MOBILE CART DESIGN

A MOVING BOX Design of a Mobile Coffee Shop

The goal of this project was to design a mobile cart within the dimensions of 10ft x 10ft. In this limited space we tried to design the most compact coffee shop with the inclusion of all the neccessary features. We tried to include seating for a single person as well (as per requirement) and also takeaway services which would be the main method of business. The overall form of the cart was kept as a solid cylinder. The cylinder form appears very stable when kept on the flat circular sides but when its resting on its curved surface, it becomes very mobile and active. So we went with this form to attract the mobile and active people of the urban streets to come and grab a cup of coffee. We all know some music always goes hand in hand with coffee. The patterns on the glass elevations of the cart were inspired from the waveforms of music. To further make the cart even more compact and mobile, we designed the cart in such a way that it could be closed and brought down to a length of 7 feet. So when on the go, we opted to compress the cart to reduce its required space in traffic. When the car is in its compact state with all the windows closed as well it appears as a totally pure solid cylinder.

RESIDENCE DESIGN

ABODE Design of a Residence for a Businessman

Residence is a place where a person (usually with his/her) resides. But a “home” is more than that. Home is a place where a person feels most secure, comfortable and at peace. It carries the identities of the users, two houses maybe the same but two homes can never be the same. So the goal for my design was to make this residence a “home” for the client A businessman is busy person. He has to work long hours and even at home, he cannot escape the thoughts and stress regarding his work. He needs to be distracted in order to relax. He needs to spend more time with his family and enjoy the leisure times. Besides all these, a businessman must always hold up his status, his class and his home must reflect his hard works. Keeping all these in mind, i have incorporated my design with huge double height glass walls to provide distracting views of nature to relax the mind and a central Atrium to connect all the floors visually and increase family interaction. A private gym on the top floor as well to keep him in shape and healthy.

PARAMETRIC

ENVIRONMENT RESPONSIVE SPACE Design of a Parametric facade for Admin Building, Dept. Of Arch, BUET

For our project, we were required to design such a facade for the Administration building of the Architecture Dept, BUET. This building has its major facades on the east and west side and so they have minimal openings on these sides to prevent heat gain. Our goal was to design a parametric facade using grasshopper plugin which will respond to the various conditions of the environment. My objective for this design was to make a parametric facade which will operate in a way to provide proper shade from the heat and prevent heat-gain while also keep the air flow and light access from those sides. To achieve this, i went with a facade inspired from the sails of a ship. This facade may open and close depending on the amount of heat, light, weather etc and this form will allow the windflow and light from the north-south direction and redirect it inwards while also providing shade from the heat of the sun. HIGH RISE

A VERTICAL UNIVERSITY Design of a Zero Emissions High Rise University

Typically universities in our country tend to be spread out over a vast area with low rise buildings as separate departments, functions and activities. But due to the present condition of the world, where land is fewer and fewer, an university in a High rise building seems to be the future. So the challange for this project was to arrange all the functions and essentials of an ideal university, which are typically spread out over vast areas, into a compact high rise while also keeping the essense of a campus. On top of this, we were aiming for a sustainable Net Zero building with high energy efficiency.

PVC coated Polyester fabric is installed on the facade. It is coded via Grasshopper and will Respond to the environment (Sunlight, weather conditions) by varying the gap between the panels and letting in more or less light/Heat depending on various readings from Sensors.

URBAN DESIGN

A POST-COVID CAMPUS Reimagining BUET University Campus for Post-Covid Era

In 2019, The whole world was affected by the Pandemic known as Covid-19. The Corona virus responsible for this terrible pandemic is an airborne virus which means it is very highly contagious. So to stop the spread of this disease, people have to maintain strict heigiene policies like maintaining a distance of 6 feet, not gathering in large groups and also frequent sanitization of hands. As we have (hopefully) gotten through the worst of it, we must move back to our typical lives. But to avoid another outbreak of the pandemic, we must still maintain those health policies. To implement these policies in our BUET campus, we must bring about some fundamental chnages and incorporate the new post-covid lifestyle into our design. Our goal for this project was to identify the problems of the current BUET campus in respect to covid and reimagine the campus for use in the post covid era maintaining all the safety measures required to minimise further spread of Covid.

Re-constructing Landscape For our 2nd Design Concept, We have Sub-divided the Green spaces into Small Social bubbles. This has been done respecting the existing Vegetation Layer

Indroducing Skywalks As for our 3rd Design Concept, we have identified some of the key points of the campus and connected them via skywalk to encourage distribution of crowd between those places more evenly.

PLACE MAKING MEETS PRESERVATION Heritage Conservation in Mymensingh City

Mymensignh is Rich in Heritage sites from time of the British Rule and the Jamidars. But due to lack of maintanance, Public Misuse and Ignorance of the Authority and General public these heritage structures are losing their identity, and with them Mymensighn is losing its identity as well. Our goal for this project was to Preserve that identity back through Place Making.
