SWIMMING SWIMMING LESSONS POOLS
SWIMMING LESSONS Fargo Park District offers swimming lessons during the summer season for ages 4-14.  Participants must be 5 years old to begin in level 1. EXCEPTION: If a 4 year old has passed all requirements for Preschool Level, they may register for Level 1.
Swimming Lesson Overview: Children progress through a series of seven levels designed to teach the fundamentals of swimming and encourage aquatic exploration with guided instruction. In doing so, the Fargo Park District works to ensure a high level of competency is acquired by participants in both aquatic safety and swimming skills. FP Pre-level (ages 4-5): Participants will learn how to be safe around water and begin working on floating, arm and leg movements, and confidence in the water where they can touch. FP Level 1: Students will continue building confidence by learning the basic swimming kicks and arm strokes (whip and flutter kicks, and the front and back crawl) with support from floatation devices and the instructor. FP Level 2: Students will focus on practicing the skill sets learned in level one and build the confidence to complete the skills without support from the instructor and/or floatation devices. FP Level 3: Students will begin working on their swimming endurance along with more intermediate swimming skills such as the breaststroke and diving. FP Level 4: Students will continue developing their swimming endurance and begin working on more advanced swimming strokes, such as the side stroke and butterfly. Basic lifesaving practices, such as a reach-throw technique, will be introduced that focus specifically on staying safe around pools, lakes, and rivers. FP Level 5: Students will continue to work on their basic, intermediate, and advanced swimming strokes, focusing on endurance, refinement, and mastery. Various forms of diving, such as surface dives and diving from the starting blocks, will be introduced FP Level 6/Pre-lifeguarding: Students will continue to develop their swimming endurance and begin learning intermediate life-saving skills. Pre-lifeguarding skills will be taught in order to prepare students to be good babysitters/nannies and/or future lifeguards. This level will be a benefit to any student who spends time around water during the summer months and will ensure student are prepared to pass the water skills requirements for lifeguarding certifications.

COURTS PLUS TENNIS PROGRAM TENNIS
STAR JUNIOR TENNIS AND MXP TENNIS
Whether your child is just starting the game or is trying to make a local school team, we have lessons designed to take them to the next level. Register for the tennis program at CourtsPlus.org/programs/tennis
PARK LOCATION:
Our Star Junior Tennis and MXP Tennis program uses a progressive court system that uses 36’, 60’ and 78’ (regular size) tennis court. Coupled with ensuring the proper racquet length and using different types of tennis balls based on age and ability, our goal is to get your child playing tennis as soon as possible. This system gives your child a visible progression to maximize their improvement. Each of our lessons will be divided up into three critical phases beginning with a warmup emphasizing tennis specific movement and coordination. This is followed by a skill-building phase. Then, skills are practiced “live” in a competitive phase, where rallying and game conditions are experienced. REGISTRATION SESSION 1: June 3-27 (4 weeks) SESSION 2: July 8-Aug 2 (4 weeks) fee: $50/session/participant All participants will receive a T-shirt (one/ summer). Student to instructor ratio of 10:1. Youth racquets are for sale at Courts Plus for $20. HOW TO REGISTER: Level 1: Beginner Introduction of basic strokes, court positioning, parts of the court & scoring. Level 2: Intermediate In this level we will emphasize consistency of the basic strokes. Level 3: Advanced This level will begin to learn basic strategy and direction.

GREEN UP with FARGO PARKS
ADOPT-A-PARK The Fargo Park District invites you to help keep your parks clean by joining our Adopt-A-Park Program. This is a great way for an individual, service club or group to help keep our parks clean along with having your own sense of pride in our community. For more information, please call at 499-7778. FargoParks.com
ADOPT-THE-RED The greatest threat to the Red River today is from non-point source pollution. Keeping the banks of the Red River litter-free is one way to reduce non-point source pollution. The Adopt-the-Red program stresses prevention of litter accumulation and rubbish removal by recruiting people to “adopt” reaches of the river. Cleanups remove trash and litter while increasing community pride. For more information, please call 499-7778.
MEMORIALS & TRIBUTES Commemorate significant people and note-worthy events with a tribute tree or bench within the park system. A tribute bench or tree provides lasting recognition of the significant people and occasions in your life while serving as a great enhancement to many people’s quality of life in Fargo. For more information, please call 499-7778.
RIVER KEEPERS OF THE RED RIVER OF THE NORTH River Keepers, a non-profit organization dedicated to advocating sustainable use of the Red River of the North in the Fargo-Moorhead area, was formed to: increase safety on and by the Red; promote the Red as a recreational resource including canoeing, kayaking and pedestrian/bike trails; educate youth and adults about the Red and its watershed; connect the Red to downtown urban development; develop cooperative relationships with dozens of agencies and organizations, effectively expanding what it does.
