FARGO PARK DISTRICT FOUNDATION
The Fargo Park District Foundation enhances the quality of life in the metro area by developing modernized facilities, new programs, and it offers great opportunities for the community. The Matching Grant Program, formed in January 2019, encourages partnerships between the Fargo Park District Foundation and organizations in the community to provide means to sponsor projects with the Fargo Park District. The purpose of the Matching Grant Program is advancing recreational opportunities in the City of Fargo.
WHO CAN APPLY: Associations, organizations, clubs, or
individuals in the Fargo Park District who are interested in applying for a grant to sponsor a project. Projects must be facility improvements and may include the purchase of recreation equipment.
MATCHING GRANT APPLICATION DEADLINES: Matching Grant Program applications are due
twice a year on January 1 and July 1.
IMPACT ON THE COMMUNITY The Matching Grant Program helps fund multiple projects in the Fargo community, like the Northern Plains Botanic Garden Society. Northern Plains Botanic Garden Society received a $15,000 match grant to partially fund their project: Laying the foundation for an Edible Forest. The Edible Forest project fosters and promotes community through gardening, it provides educational opportunities on local food and horticulture, connects nearby garden trails for walkers and bikers, and is a haven for birds and native pollinators. This project started the first development phase of their planned arboretum in summer 2019 at the Northern Plains Botanic Garden in Yunker Farm Park. For more information about the Fargo Park District Foundation, visit FargoParks.com or email foundation@fargoparks.com The Fargo Park District Foundation board is different from the Fargo Park District Board. The board members are various members of the Fargo community serving on a volunteer basis.

SWIMMING SWIMMING LESSONS POOLS
*Only register for one swimming session at a time. You can sign up for additional swimming sessions once your current session ends, then register for the next level. Changes/refunds are not issued for registrations made in advance for the wrong classes.
Swimming Lesson Overview: Children progress through a series of seven levels designed to teach the fundamentals of swimming and encourage aquatic exploration with guided instruction. In doing so, the Fargo Park District works to ensure a high level of competency is acquired by participants in both aquatic safety and swimming skills. FP Pre-level (ages 4-5): Participants learn how to be safe around water and begin working on floating, arm and leg movements, and confidence in the water where they can touch. FP Level 1: Students continue building confidence by learning the basic swimming kicks and arm strokes (whip and flutter kicks, and the front and back crawl) with support from floatation devices and the instructor. FP Level 2: Students focus on practicing the skill sets learned in level one and build the confidence to complete the skills without support from the instructor and/or floatation devices. FP Level 3: Students begin working on their swimming endurance along with more intermediate swimming skills such as the breaststroke and diving. FP Level 4: Students continue developing their swimming endurance and begin working on more advanced swimming strokes, such as the side stroke and butterfly. Basic lifesaving practices, such as a reach-throw technique, are introduced that focus specifically on staying safe around pools, lakes, and rivers. FP Level 5: Students continue to work on their basic, intermediate, and advanced swimming strokes, focusing on endurance, refinement, and mastery. Various forms of diving, such as surface dives and diving from the starting blocks, are introduced. FP Level 6/Pre-lifeguarding: Students continue to develop their swimming endurance and begin learning intermediate life-saving skills. Pre-lifeguarding skills are taught in order to prepare students to be good babysitters/nannies and/or future lifeguards. This level is a benefit to any student who spends time around water during the summer months and ensures student are prepared to pass the water skills requirements for lifeguarding certifications.

TENNIS
COURTS PLUS TENNIS PROGRAM Whether your child is just starting the game or is trying to make a local school team, we have lessons designed to take them to the next level. Register for the tennis program at CourtsPlus.org
STAR JUNIOR TENNIS AND MXP TENNIS Our Star Junior Tennis and MXP Tennis program uses a progressive court system that uses 36’, 60’ and 78’ (regular size) tennis court. Coupled with ensuring the proper racquet length and using different types of tennis balls based on age and ability, our goal is to get your child playing tennis as soon as possible. This system gives your child a visible progression to maximize their improvement. Each of our lessons are divided up into three critical phases beginning with a warm-up emphasizing tennis specific movement and coordination. This is followed by a skill-building phase. Then, skills are practiced “live” in a competitive phase, where rallying and game conditions are experienced. REGISTRATION SESSION 1: June 1-25 (4 weeks) SESSION 2: July 6-31 (4 weeks) fee: $50.00/session/participant Student to instructor ratio of 10:1. Youth racquets are for sale at Courts Plus for $20.00. HOW TO REGISTER:
