From the Director’s Chair

hat an amazing season we have planned for you! We started planning this season over a year ago and have put an enormous amount of effort into bringing you entertainment, education and art that will engage and enrich the lives of our patrons. We are especially thankful for the assistance we have received from the Minnesota State Arts Board, SEMAC and the generous gifts of businesses and individuals that allow us to bring the ‘transformative power of the arts’ to our community.

As the 2022/2023 season comes to an end, I would like to recap some of the goals that we accomplished.

• We installed acoustic panels in our auditorium and what a difference it has made to the sound quality of the theater performances and the live concerts! We hope you have a chance to experience it. Thank you donors!

• Our digital marquee means no more executive director on the ladder, and no more only being able to advertise only one show or gallery opening at a time! Thank you donors!

• By the time this goes to print the new seats for the auditorium will be under construction and by the time the summer ends we hope to have all of the fancy, comfortable, cup-holder laden seats installed! Again, thank you to our donors!

• We finally have a true endowment for the longevity and sustainability of the Paradise Center for the Arts. Thank you to our generous donors for realizing that the gift given to our endowment fund is a gift for our future and the future of the arts in our community.

• If you are interested in making a tax deductible donation to the PCA, please contact me at: director@paradisecenterforthearts.org, or call me at: 507-332-7372.

What a difference the past three years have made to the Paradise Center for the Arts! I couldn’t have done any of it without such an amazing staff, dedicated volunteers, our students, teachers, artists and patrons! Thank you and…

Bad Bad Hats is an indie rock band from Minneapolis, Minnesota. The band consists of Kerry Alexander, Chris Hoge, and Connor Davison. Named for a trouble-making character from the Madeline children’s books, Bad Bad Hats is defined by a balance of sweet and sour. Their music

honors classic pop songwriting, with nods to nineties rock simplicity and pop-punk frivolity. Through it all, Alexander’s unflinchingly sincere lyrics cut to the emotional heart of things.

He comes back in his dream where he’s visited by folk legend, Sven Yorgensen, who plays the ghost of Christmas past, present, and future.
