Re-Spire is an approach to transforming the shopping experience into a seamless, and engaging experiecne that would act as the town’s cultural hub and celebrates local businesses. The project was designed with two qualities in mind. The first is making the experience through the building to be effortless and streamlined for a convenient shopping experience. Movement
The Project represents the heritage of Saudi Arabia harmonizing with the advancement of our contemporary living, and Saudi Arabia’s approach towoard the future. The design starts with our heritage as living beings withing the confines of our universe and the cosmic connection with all everything from the smallest atom to the largest galaxy. The mountain represents the core of our univers, still, strong, and surviving thus it is the only logical approach to treat it as the center of this project. The environment around the mountain revolve and magnetize around it, influenced by mountain’s strength the design creates spaces of movement, and interconnection between interior and exterior. The design references cultural vernacular of Najd and Saudi arabia with its use of local flora, bodies of water, wind catchers, building materials, and the typology of courtyard to adabt within the climate of its location. The use of these elements avoid blatant references to the aesthetics of historical forms avoiding shallow representation of architectural tradition, and historicist approach in design.

OP Arc: Plastic Play Date: Spring 2019 Program: Fashion + Architecture Studios Locaation: Kent, OH Fabrication: CNC Milling ; Foam Carving, Lasercut Acrylic | Instructor: Jon Yoder
Plastic Play is an exploration of plasticity, projection, and movement that drives interactions between color and form, creating an effect of visual displacement. The design plays with “ocular” and optical ambiguity. It implies continuity among voids, creating a sense of intrigue for passing viewers by inviting them to connect the pieces and solve the “puzzle” using sight. The vivid, reflective colors break the rigidity of the Neo-Brutalist apparatus by insinuating visual buoyancy and contrasting with the muted, rough surface of the plastic mass. The apparatus is an obelisk (or toy) penetrated by distorted extrusions that create moments of potential interaction with different mega-graphic colors. Its form appears to stretch the projection of colored lights along the twisting axes of figural voids. The synthesis of form and color evokes sensual dynamism, acting along viewers’ mobile vectors of vision. Apparatus and image conspire to arrest animation in sublime moments of stillness.
