2020 Graduates Economics
Dear 2020 Economics Graduates, Congratulations on all your achievements! We wholeheartedly wish we could celebrate your accomplishments in person. It has been amazing to watch you all build friendships, learn new skills, overcome disappointments, and triumph in so many things during your time at Miami. It has been a sincere privilege to interact with so many of you and to watch you progress through different stages of your academic journey. You are all wellprepared to face life’s challenges, and I look forward to hearing about your successes! Please take the time to keep in touch with each other and with us, and be sure to connect with our broad alumni group for networking and other opportunities. Follow us on twitter @Miami_Econ, or through our Miami Econ group on LinkedIn. Definitely look us up when you are back on campus. Again, thank you for sharing part of your journey with us. Best of luck and congratulations! Love and honor, Melissa Thomasson

To our spring and summer 2020 ECO graduates -- This picture was taken from my FSB office window at 2pm on an April Wednesday afternoon. It is noteworthy both for what is present -- open parking spaces, and what is absent -- you, and the rest of Miami's students. We missed being physically with you as you closed your Miami student chapter, and we know that your sudden departure from campus was not the ending you would have written. I'll choose to interpret it as sign that you are indeed ready: ready to successfully meet the many new and unexpected challenges that await you in your careers and in your communities. And we are thankful that you will be out there making a positive difference in our world and leading us to brighter days ahead. Sincere congratulations and best wishes to each of you. Please keep in touch, and come back and see us. We know you will make us proud. Love and honor, and Godspeed. Mike Curme
Congratulations on weathering the pandemic storm and emerging as a Miami Econ alum! Life will continue to present unexpected problems and unexpected opportunities to you, and I trust that your experience at Miami will help you to continue to solve the problems and pursue the opportunities. Good luck! Please reach back to us now and again to let us know how you are doing. George Davis
I am so sorry, especially for the seniors, that we are all having to spend the last half of this spring semester away from Miami’s amazing campus and our close friends and colleagues. I taught some of you in Fall 2016, and a number of you in multiple classes. Even if I never had you in class, though, I hope that you will take the following to heart. Like many things in life, this situation was largely out of our control. A big part of success and happiness, though, involves adapting to whatever life throws at you, and doing so with a positive attitude. I hope that each of you makes time to come back to campus to be with friends and your university family again. And note that dropping in on old professors is a much-loved and time-honored tradition. I congratulate you on your wonderful college careers! Best, Chuck Moul
Dear Class of 2020, Congratulations to each of you on attaining this important milestone. I have enjoyed teaching you, getting to know you, and seeing your impressive contributions to the campus community! In uncertain times, your ability to think critically and apply tools to new contexts is crucial. Your skillset is diverse, adaptable, and most importantly – it is in high demand! I am confident that you are ready to rise to any challenge you may face.I wish you the best in all your future endeavors. Remember to stop by and say hello when you are back in Oxford. Austin Smith
Congratulations! I wish you all the best as you start your careers. Keep in touch, and know that you'll always have a home here in Oxford. Best wishes, Wolff
