2020 Graduates Marketing
To the Marketing Graduates of 2020: Congratulations to you all as you reach the culmination of your undergraduate experience at Miami University and the Farmer School of Business. You, and those who have supported you on your journey, should take great pride in this achievement. While you have achieved a great deal in your time here, you are only at the very beginning of what will be a great many more adventures and achievements in the years to come. As graduates of Miami’s marketing program, you join thousands of other Miami alums who are leading the success of their companies and organizations around the world. I urge you to remain connected with your fellow Miami 2020 graduates in the years to come. The time it will take to keep these relationships going will be one of the most important and rewarding investments you make in your professional and personal growth. I also urge you to reach out, beyond your classmates, to take every opportunity to connect with Miami alums in your companies and communities. The shared experience of having spent this time in your lives here at Miami will create bonds transcending any differences in age, occupation, or lifestyle. In addition, please remember your experience here and the future success you build upon it, is due, in large measure, to the ongoing support of those who came before you. The continued involvement of our loyal and committed alums has been, and will continue to be, a significant part of the success of our graduates. Please remain in touch with those professors who you feel have made the greatest contribution to your Miami experience and, when the opportunity presents itself, ask them how you might contribute to the success of the future generations of Miami students. In closing, I again offer you my congratulations and my sincere best wishes for your future personal and professional success on whatever path your life takes. Love and Honor, Mike McCarthy
Congratulations to the Class of 2020! I wish you all well and will miss seeing you regularly. Please stay in touch. Terri
Congratulations graduates! I wish you the best of luck in your future plans, and look forward to hearing and reading about the places you go. It’s an exciting time, to be sure. Despite the uncertainty, I am confident that you will find your way to a great career and a satisfying life. You’ve already learned to survive on your own without your parents, to interact with a wide range of people and to balance hard work with a social life. During this next chapter of your life, you will take these lessons to the next level as you figure out how to support yourself, get along with your coworkers and succeed in your careers. The world has changed quite a bit since I graduated from college. I remember feeling both anxious and excited about the prospect of finishing college. After a while, though, I realized that despite all that I learned in college, I would need to eventually return to school for more education. Continuous learning is now the norm for our world so don’t be surprised if you end up getting another degree or taking some evening classes while you work full time. For now, though, enjoy some time away from school and bask in the knowledge that you earned a great degree. Be sure to stay in touch. It’s always a thrill to get an e-mail or call from you to catch up.

Dear Miami Graduates of 2020, I miss you being on campus and wish we could be together to celebrate your accomplishments at Miami the past 4 years at graduation! Please know that you are well prepared to go into your careers or grad school and you can overcome many obstacles. Change our world for the better and be proud of all of your accomplishments. I hope our paths cross again and we can discuss all of the wonderful things you did between now and then that have made life better! Best wishes! Helen Koons
Dear Class of 2020, Allow me to be one of many to salute you for all of your amazing academic accomplishments. All of you have proven your incredible abilities from MKT 291 all the way to Senior Capstone and we salute you! We are so proud of you and excited to (virtually) share in this victorious moment. This past semester, the world we assumed would welcome graduates with open arms has changed in ways we could have never imagined or adequately prepared for. The sudden switch to remote learning to close this academic year has created a new reality that we must all continue to adjust to. In the midst of this global change, it is very important to pause as we acknowledge your resilience, intellect, and grit. You have met all the academic requirements of your program AND were forced to immediately learn the larger life lessons of “nothing is promised” and the “uncertainty of tomorrow.” Like your academic life at Miami, the journey of life will bring both challenges and chances. May you carry your spirit to snatch the chances and beat the challenges. We believe in you. Happy Graduation! Love and Honor, Hannah Lee
Dear Graduating Seniors, Congrats on your college careers and all that you’ve accomplish here at Miami! To everyone that I’ve had the privilege of having in class and/or in the research lab, it’s been an absolute pleasure working with such smart, hard-working, engaged, creative, and often hilarious students. Good luck in your future careers. Stay hungry, curious, and agile. Keep trusting your talents, letting your passions drive you, and following your moral compass. Keep in touch, and I look forward to hearing about all the amazing things you’ve achieved in years to come. Cheers! Eric
To the Class of 2020 Marketing Graduates: Congratulations and best wishes to all the 2020 Marketing graduates. And most especially, to those who took the MKT 461 or the MKT 499B class with me! I feel fortunate to have spent time with such talented, engaged, fun, and energetic students. It has truly been a pleasure. I wish each of you great success in your careers and in life. Be curious! Keep learning! Get some exercise every day. Eat some veggies every day. Be willing to speak up, whether to correct things that are wrong or to commend people who did something great. Continue to practice the FSB Honor Code – Integrity, Responsibility and Respect! And most importantly, have fun with your work and your life! Lastly, I look forward to seeing/interacting with each of you in the future as you engage with Miami students and faculty in whatever way is meaningful to you. Love and Honor, Leslie Stoel, Professor
