Latest products displayed during three-week roadshow
An opportunity for dealers and customers to view and find out about all the latest products during the Massey Ferguson Experience Tour in October attracted large numbers of visitors. David Williams joined farmers and contractors at one of the events.
The Massey Ferguson tour visited three locations including North Yorkshire, Hertfordshire, and Powys. Presentation sessions on four days at each venue were allocated to different dealers and their customers. Models from each product range were on show – including tractors, combines, grass harvesting machinery, balers, and telehandlers.
First look at 7S
Star attractions included the new 5S- and 6S-series tractors as well as the first 7S-series tractor to arrive in the UK. A Massey Ferguson Ideal combine generated many enquiries for dealers and the grass harvesting machinery also proved popular. Latest generation TH-series telehandlers with new cabs offering even better all-around vision than their predecessors were also attracting lots of attention.
Useful event
During Farmers Guide’s visit, sales teams and customers of East Anglia-based dealer Thurlow Nunn Standen also attended the event. “It was a great opportunity to show customers all the product lines in one location, and feedback from everyone who attended was very positive,” explained Thurlow Nunn Standen Massey Ferguson brand manager, Matt Boardley. “The grassland product line-up is excellent and generated a lot of interest, while we were also very pleased to be able to show potential users around the new 7S-190 Dyna-VT. That will be a key tractor for us in future as it replaces the current 7719S which is a particularly popular model across our trading area.
“As well as seeing all the latest products, our customers also enjoyed meeting so many of the Massey Ferguson team members. It was a wellorganised and useful event.” FG

Tyre presentation
A presentation by Trelleborg tyre specialists highlighted benefits of the latest tyres and explained the relevance of tyre markings in relation to use and operating pressures. Trelleborg’s TLC Plus app was also demonstrated – allowing users to quickly determine optimum operating pressures for tyres for specific applications.
Good dealer back-up
Bucher Farms Ltd, based at Knettishall, Norfolk operates ve Massey Ferguson tractors including a 5710 used within a duck enterprise, a 7718 for general farm tasks, a 7720S which is the main drilling tractor and does cultivations, and a 7726 for primary cultivations. “We have an excellent relationship with the team at Thurlow Nunn Standen’s Attleborough depot,” explained foreman Sam Baker, who is pictured (right) with machinery operator Stuart Flatman and Massey Ferguson area sales manager Mike Foyle. “We are considering replacing the 7720S with an 8S-series model and have arranged a demonstration for later this autumn when we are drilling winter wheat after lifting the sugar beet.
“We nd the brand reliable and back-up from the dealer is always very good whether it is regarding precision farming issues or mechanical problems. As well as the tractors we run a Massey Ferguson round baler which we bought this year following a successful demonstration. It replaced our previous Lely Welger model with similar features. The Experience Day was useful, allowing us to view all the latest products and we enjoyed spending time with both the dealer and manufacturer teams.”
Specialist advice
Andrew Fairley farms at Great Bromley near Colchester and attended the event with his son Alex (pictured on the right). Trading as Henry Fairley & Son Ltd, the farm operates two Massey Ferguson tractors supplied by Thurlow Nunn Standen. Cropping on soils which are mainly Tendring loams includes potatoes, cereals for seed, and grass turf. Andrew said the Massey Ferguson event was very interesting, and that he had taken advantage of the opportunity to ask the Trelleborg team for advice regarding his own tyres following their presentation.
