HOLE #10

GOLF COURSE MASTER PLAN | PHASE FIVE

Hole #10 is closed for Phase Five golf course master plan renovation work. The primary goals for the work on Hole #10 are as follows:

• Relocate the green to the right to reduce the risk of golf balls landing on Farmington Drive

• Install all-new greenside and fairway bunkers

• Renovate and shift the Orange and Blue tees further to the left

• Convert the remaining tees from cool-season grass to warm-season grass while maintaining their current locations

• Adjust the cart path routing to accommodate the new green location

Why is the green being moved?

When the decision was made not to rebuild the green on Hole #18, it created opportunities to address other issues, one of which is improving the safety of Hole #10. Currently, the hole’s configuration frequently results in golf balls landing on Farmington Drive and the Front Circle. Even a slightly off-target shot can cause balls to bounce along the road and into the Front Circle, leading to occasional hits on cars and people, along with numerous close calls over the years.

The architect’s plan is to shift the green to the right and align the tees in the new direction. By adjusting the tee angle by 15–20 degrees, this change will significantly reduce the number of stray golf balls entering this area. The length of the hole will remain essentially the same, though final details of the new green are still being worked out. The overall goal is to maintain the current challenge of the hole while enhancing safety.
