Congratulations Class of 2022! ‘Start where you are’ To the Class of 2022: I would like to extend my congratulations to the Randolph-Henry High School graduates. These past four years have been an incredible journey for you and your families. On May 21, 2022, you will graduate and become part of a longstanding tradition of excellence. Being a Randolph-Henry High School alumni is something that I hope you will always be proud of. As you look ahead to your future, I can imagine that you are filled with many uncertainties. Do not be afraid to take that first step out into the world. I say with confidence that as a Statesmen you are well prepared to spread your wings and seek your next adventure. As I imagine our seniors facing their next step, whether that is college, the work-
force, or the military, I am reminded of a quote by Arthur Ashe. He said, “Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.” I think we can all agree that regardless of where the future takes us, this is indeed good advice. As far as your starting place, I cannot think of a better place to grow up than Charlotte County. Statesmen, you were fortunate enough to be raised in a strong, loving community surrounded by people who wish only the best for you. I hope you recognize how influential this foundation will prove to be for the rest of your life. Moving on to the next part of the quote, Mr. Ashe tells us to use what we have. Over the last four years, Statesmen, you have acquired so many skills that you will carry with you into your future. We

Erin Davis could talk about your impressive GPAs, your test scores, and even all of the many certifications you earned. These are incredible feats indeed. But even more impressive are the skills you’ve learned in becoming young leaders and role models within our school and community. The students I encounter every day in the halls show empathy, stand up for others, demonstrate
acceptance, and extend compassion. Graduates, never underestimate how far these skills will take you in life. Whether you were a member of a student organization, participated in sports, or simply challenged yourself to join a new club, you were practicing being a part of something bigger than yourself. Those endeavors carve out new experiences and unveil hidden talents. Lastly, Statesmen don’t forget to do what you can. Whether it’s helping someone less fortunate, joining in on a team project, assisting an elderly person to their car, or simply picking up a piece of trash from the ground, always be the person who does what they can. Hard workers are in high demand in virtually every arena. People will always take notice
