Table Tennis is a fantastic sport - improve your playing skills, get to grips with the rules, uncover the facts or just have a fun time. Join us on Sunday at 2.30. This year there will be a badminton ECA at Uptown, everyone from grade 3 to 5 are welcome to join. During the ECA the student will learn more and enjoy themselves at the same time, they will understand the rules of badminton and will improve their skills. We’ll e o ki g o asi skills, passi g, shooti g, keepi g lose o t ol… a d some fun games.

Students will have the opportunity to work with a variety of media including oil pastels, clay, paint etc. We will be working on self-portraits, silhouettes and other exciting pieces of work. It will be another opportunity for students to showcase their creative talents. For students who enjoy football and would like to have fun while improving their skills, knowledge and understanding of the game.

Last yea p o ed to e a eally e o a le yea fo PYP gi ls’ foot all at Uptown for so many reasons, most notably winning the Dubai Football League Championship, as well as finished in finishing first and second place at the Taaleem Indoor Football Tournament with our U10 and U11 teams! With the Under-11 league season not beginning again until January (and a league title to defend!) this ECA provides an opportunity for any girls in Grades 4 and 5 to attend training ahead of squad selection in January.

PYP students will be part of a small group where they will be read to and read with their buddies. Each language group will have 1 reading mentor (MYP student) and 3 PYP students max for each language to start with. Mention what language are you interested in. At book club, you will get the chance to relax and read some of your favourite books. I will be there to help you if you get stuck on tricky words. When you

finish a book, we can talk about your favourite part, character etc. It's going to be a lot of fun! This fun Maths club will encourage children to use their thinking skills while engaging in recreational Mathematics. Maths isn't only about numbers - math skills are found in puzzles and games too. Playing these strategy games will help develop children's logical thinking skills. Some games take some serious planning, thinking and figuring. Students will go out on the field and learn some of the rules, skills and strategies of the game, as well as engage in some friendly competitions. An ECA for students who have already taken Grade 3 violin lessons and are interested in learning some fun tunes and improving their technique at the same time. They will also be listening and responding to various fiddle music from traditions around the Globe, including Chinese, Celtic and Bluegrass fiddle. This is a yearlong ECA- a little progress can be made in 10 weeks. A lot of progress can be made in a year. Students must bring a violin with them to this ECA. Violins can be loaned from the school on a contract basis, similar to Grade 3 arrangement. Handwriting is an important part of the visual side of communication. This ECA is a fun way to support students with the formation of letters with guided instructions. The aim is to help students develop a handwriting style that is legile, fluent and quick.

Spreading joy one fold at a time! Your child will have the opportunity to develop many skills while exploring the traditional Japanese art of paper folding. Transforming a piece of plain paper into something else is an experience that children can truly appreciate. In fun games we will play a variety of different games such as capture the flag, octopus, tag, dodge ball and many others. Be prepared to be active and a cooperative team player. Please remember to bring a water bottle. Have great fun with paint using all kinds of ingredients! Pudding, Corn Syrup, Kool-Aid, Yogurt, Soap, Powdered Milk, Shaving Cream, and more! What to expect: learn about 20 different recipes to make paint and colors.

To improve physical and mental health, come and join me for some breathing and stretching exercises that will help you relax and increase strength and flexibility. After that, we will have fun dancing at the rhythm of the music!!! Do you love writing? Do you like writing imaginative stories? In the Creative Writing Club we will develop our writing skills using different writing prompts and writing styles featuring all kinds of characters and settings and then celebrate our stories with our class. Creativity, friendship, fun and a whole lot of building blocks are the ingredients needed for Uptown School's Construction Club. We will use Lego, Knex, Polydron shapes and a wide array of materials to create fantastic models and interesting designs. The multicolored Lego plastic bricks give the

students a nearly limitless opportunity to express their creativity as they build people, vehicles, houses and buildings, animals and even entire scenes. Construction Club provides the students with the opportunity to design and construct models in a collaborative manner with plenty of interaction. It is great fun and all students from grade 1, 2 & 3 are welcome. Make a different shapes and sculpting by clay, plaster and cardboard. Use water colors and Arts tools. Paint a picture of human, some animals and plants. Make decoration at home with simple and available materials. Learn the methods of calligraphy writing and its relationship with the Arab civilizations in Arab world through the old Islamic centuries; so they can understand the forms of mosques and homes in the United Arab Emirates and all Arab countries. This Activity aims to teach students G 4-5 the correct way (Tajweed) part 30 of the Quran and give them the chance to memorize some surahs (optional)

In the Club will be the development of special skills of basketball and the ability to control the ball and work on the development of children's fitness.

Home Work Club Gr. 1-3

After a tiring day at school, homework can be a stressful time for both parents and children. In this ECA, students are provided with a structured time, within a school setting, in which to complete their assigned tasks with teacher support. Zumba is a dance fitness program involves dance and aerobic elements. It combines a lot of fun elements, like music and those energetic movements with exercising. Zumba combats boredom by making exercise upbeat and fun.

This activity is an opportunity to give your children enough experience to learn the Embroidery. Embroidery is the handicraft of decorating fabric or other materials with needle and thread or yarn. It is the art of sophisticated features with patience and precision. The idea of embroidery is very simple and amusing, especially for girls, in order to occupy their free time with something useful and practical. Cost: 50 AED/ child

Scrabble Club Gr. 1-3

Come and join my Scrabble Club. It's a great way to make new friends and learn new words at the same time. Playing Scrabble will give you all an opportunity to sharpen your skills including spellings, vocabulary, math and even your social and personal skills. It will also strengthen your curiosity, strategic thinking, time management and attention span. It is loads of fun!! Educational Games is a ten-week after school program designed to foster a love of math and language. Through the use of ICT, learning is exciting and engaging. The games we will play will reinforce skills and facilitate the understanding of various concepts. Using well known cartoon movies, learn the art of cartooning and bring your own cartoon book home at the end of the term. This term we will be learning all the basic skills of Volleyball. You will learn how to pass, set up, smash, block, dive and roll and more. We will be playing against each other to learn the rules of the game and you will learn the basics of being a referee. Fun is the main ingredient of this activity.
