What I look forward to every year is wearing my vintage Burberry trench coat, because some things never, ever go out of style and only look better with time. I also have a new jacket by Thom Brown that I have been waiting to wear. It was part of the Neiman Marcus collection for Target. I want to take it into a non-traditional direction even though it seems like classic prep school. Pattern mixing is also an obsession not only in spring, but year round!

Tomik Dash

Editor-In-Chief - www.vagrantmag.com

Tomik is 28 years old and was born in Brooklyn, NY. Growing up, he had the privilege of living in some great cities such as Chicago, Los Angeles, and Atlanta where he currently resides. He always knew he wanted to be involved in something creative and he dabbled around in several things including dance and acting before he seemingly fell into hairdressing, which he did for 7 years. Being on photo shoot sets as a hairstylist opened his eyes to the beauty that lies in the process of creating image. He started a fashion blog where he would post his favorite editorials and thought that it would be cool to create his own blog-exclusive photo shoots. The photo shoots were well received and his blog gained quite a bit of popularity. He tried his hand at applying for credentials to go to New York Fashion Week and to his surprise, got a bevy of invites. That is where he really got bitten by the bug. After returning to Atlanta from Fashion Week, he felt like he was ready to take things to the next level. Atlanta had no dedicated fashion magazine and he wanted to provide an outlet for under-the-radar creatives to display their talents to the masses. 48

This past summer I went to New York for a fash was located in SOHO, I had to make sure and do wandered into an Aldo shoe store just to see if i in Milwaukee and was instantly attracted to a pa electric blue, but better yet had no real heel. The and then gracefully angled up to the top of the sho I knew I didn't have a thing to wear with them nor but it didn't matter. They were unique and beaut would come in time. Fifteen minutes later, they

hion blogger's conference. Since it o some shopping on my breaks. I it was any different from the ones air of pumps. They were a brilliant e platform in front stopped mid way oe. Sort of a asymmetrical wedge. any special occasions coming up, tiful and the right outfit and places y were mine.

There's such a thing as a functionally practical shoe. That great pair of running shoes that provides support for your arches is a necessity when running distance. There's also a fashionably practical shoe. That's the perfect pair of black booties that goes with almost anything you own. Both are needs for your body. But you also need a shoe that fulfills the needs of your soul. The shoe that's so beautiful it calls to you and says "Let's dance". I don’t mean the shoes you want to wear dancing, but the shoes you want to dance with because they're cuter than any guy in the room. The right pair of shoes can add life to the most drab outfit and can set the tone of how others perceive you. Whether it’s the “don’t mess with me” spiky platforms, the sexy cutout booties, or the free spirited fringe sandals they all have a statement to say. This is art through fashion and the window into your soul. We all need to have things that are about enjoyment for the sake of enjoyment. Free from judgment about whether they were a good investment or what others think of them. We all work hard and are responsible much of our lives, so there also needs to be a time to cut loose and indulge. For some, that’s a sleek sports car, others a lush tropical vacation, and for me - it’s shoes.

Everyday we wake up is a miracle. Today, in particular, I thought I was witnessing a sign of a very pleasant apocalypse. I mustered up enough nerve to stand on the scale, and to my surprise…I WEIGHED ZERO POUNDS!

BIG...

…by Design?!

I’ve been a semi-big guy all my life; never warranting my own reality show but never taking my shirt off in public. Was this a lovely parting gift from the Pope? (I’m not Catholic, so maybe this will get lost in the shuffle of his departure.) It dawned on me that this immaculate weigh-in was the opposite of what I hoped. Not only was I over zero pounds, but the scale had gone ALL THE WAY AROUND, bringing me back to zero! Remembering what math I could from high school, I learned that this meant I had reached a milestone I was never aiming for. I was 300lbs! I was on the gentle side of 40, meaning my body would damn near stop metabolizing. If I was gonna grind to a halt, I wanted to do it at a lighter weight, even though it would be funny to see how many friend/pall bearers it would take to lower my fat-ass into the ground! Some people own their size, and I’m not mad at them, but I had a journey ahead of me that involved crunches other than Nestle and Cap’n. I’m motivated, so I will attack this issue head-on…tomorrow. (To Be Continued!) ~ Roi Evans 56
