The article on ‘a young man is a man with a young body’will inspire many who have been slack in looking after their physical self.Experience shows that we are more devoted to our bodies till the age of thirty but then as we cross this barrier ,laziness takes over and for no particular reason the physical excellence is made to recede and gets taken over by a clumsy look.Fat around the belly has its own drawbacks and this has to be avoided at all costs. P1 GTR Car Design Concept

Remember the Ferrari FXX? The track-only hyper car based on the Enzo which was famously tested by Top Gear’s Stig to do a lap of 1:10 around their track. The owners of the Ferrari FXX who paid a whopping $3.3million are only allowed to drive the car on special track days which are approved by Ferrari, but then it is the most hardcore racing car ever to go on sale. However, now it has a worthy adversary threatening to snatch its crown and become the king of race tracks. Introducing the McLaren P1 GTR: the track-only 986bhp monster of a machine that McLaren claims will soon become the “best driver’s car in the world”.

Announced several months back, McLaren finally unveiled it at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance giving the world a peak of the brand’s ultimate driving machine. The road-going McLaren P1 is already one of the best cars money can buy, but with the GTR McLaren aims to push boundaries even further. The track-only version of the British Super Car will be built in an extremely limited run and offered only to original owners of the P1 road car. The car come with a host of equipment more usually found on its Formula One cars, such as slick tires, a DRS-style opening rear wing, and a KERS system.

Slick tires, a DRSstyle opening rear wing, and a KERS system.

It also features race-spec suspension with an 80mm wider front track, an on-board air-powered jacking system, and motorsport alloy wheels with quick-release centre-locking nuts. The British automaker announced that it’s to start its own driver training program alongside the new car, to ensure buyers can get the best out of hardcore track cars. The delivery dates have not been confirmed but McLaren says it’s aiming to start production in just under a year.

A Young Man is a Man with a Young Body

Men need to keep up with their male ego. They need to keep the self-esteem boosted. Middle age men hit the gym to bulk up some muscles and to show the world that they are young and still in the game. What is it that builds up the bodybuilding craze for middle-aged men? This question can be answered by highlighting some reasons for which they urge to build up the body.

Know your Body: Make sure you know your body and how much weight your body can lift. Are your muscles strong enough for heavy weight lifting? If yes then build up the momentum. If no then lift what you can. You can get your body in shape and get it adapted to the weight lifting by starting with less weight and then increasing it gradually.

Middle age men opt for it and do it to keep the body young and also feel young. There is no fun in having a big beer belly and getting comfortable in that lounge couch of yours. The need is to exercise and there by keep the body healthy and stunning.

Physical Health Maintenance: It is a known fact that working out four times a week or more keeps men healthy. Especially if men maintain their gym routine they also maintain a positive mental attitude. Men who exercise regularly can avoid many health realted issues such as back pain, arthritis, heart diseases and diabetes. Exercise keeps the body in shape and the muscles once built keeps getting stronger. Muscle building activity by middle age men not only maintains their muscles but it also stimulates the bone formation. The bones become denser when a regular weight is lifted and muscles are built. Human beings have a body like a machine if they stop exercising the bones and the muscles will rust like an unused machine. As the body gets used to the weight and exercise on daily basis the muscles and the bones performance improves resulting in increased strength and better ability to cope up with any injury possibility.

Warm up: If you are a man reaching your 40’s or crossed 40’s and you still hit the gym like you used to in your 20’s, you have to be careful when you work out.

Make sure you warm up. Warm up is a low-intensity exercise at a quick pace to increase the blood flow to the muscles. Warm up will help raise the temperature of the body to increase the blood flow for the mobility and flexibility of the muscles.

Mental Health Maintenance: It is perhaps another known fact that besides improving the physical abilities a man’s mental health also improves. Middle-age men have passed the age when their self-esteem was at the peak so now there is a need to get that back by making your body feel it through exercise. Although training and exercise at the age of 40 can help maintain the body posture and muscle tone but the impact it has on the mind is commendable. The daily stress release is one factor that should motivate all middle-age men to boost up the motivation and exercise. While men exercise and look at the positive aspects they need to know where they have to be cautious during the exercise.

Get the entire Body Working:

If you exercise make sure each and every muscle is involved in the work out. The exercises should be making multiple muscle groups to work so that the exercise is useful. Make a proper routine to get the entire body in shape rather than exhausting just a few muscles on daily basis. If you don’t know how to go about it make sure you get the help of your trainer to get your body in shape.

Life would be so simple if there weren’t so many holidays (and office parties, and potlucks, and gift exchanges, etc.) squeezed into such a short period of time. Of course, it’s not a celebration without loads of booze and copious amounts of dessert, and your fridge practically stocks itself with leftovers. To avoid leftover weight come January, use these tricks to keep your diet on track.

to – it was amazing!) Treat the day after as just another day of eating healthy and staying active.

up, and lean protein (leftover turkey breast counts!) to keep you satisfied.

2. Stock up on healthy foods.

Those holiday cookies might look festive on the counter top, but they’re more likely to tempt you if you can see them. Accessible food makes, harder to resist, says Beth Vallen, Ph.D., assistant professor of marketing at Villanova University and environmental food cues researcher. Your best bet is to keep food in the cupboard or fridge below eye level, so you don’t see treats every time you walk by the kitchen or swing open the fridge door for a snack.

Yes, your fridge contains half a pecan pie and enough petit fours to feed an army. While it might sound crazy to buy more food, a fridge full of tempting treats won’t help you get back on track. Of course, you shouldn’t trash 1. Don’t beat yourself the good stuff (that would be up. a serious shame), but a slice of pie will do less damage You can’t take back the dewhen it tops off a meal that’s bauchery that happened at last night’s dessert table. (And full of healthy stuff. Go for truthfully, you wouldn’t want high-fiber veggies to fill you

3. Put food away.

Tips to Get Your Diet Back on Track During the Holidays 4.Organize your fridge strategically.

Put leftovers in the fridge towards the back and keep fruit and veggies in front. This way you’ll have to work to get the good stuff, and have easy access to the healthiest foods.

5.Use silver foil instead of plastic containers:

When you can’t see the delicious pie, it won’t tempt you until you crack into it with a fork.

6.Eat leftovers sitting down.

Sneak a few bites out of the fridge, and your body won’t register it as a meal – no matter how many bites you take. That’s because it’s hard to process how much you eat when you mindlessly shovel food down. If you crave Thanksgiving leftovers, get in there and do it up. Just put your portion on a plate, and take

that plate to the table so you can really be thankful for each bite.

7.When you do eat those leftovers, use smaller plates. Overeating on a holiday won’t kill you or drastically tip the scale. But feast like that every day for a week, and you will notice a difference.

8.Avoid the “What the Hell” effect.

This well-documented phenomena occurs when you slip up on your diet and instead of accepting it and going back to healthy eating, you completely throw in the towel. It’s when eating a piece of peanut butter fudge turns into eating the entire tin (and polishing off the fruitcake, too). Needless to say, this mindset can be disastrous. If you violate your diet rules, do say “what the hell” then make your next bite a healthier one.

9. Don’t try to lose weight. It’s just not realistic – especially overnight. Set out to maintain your pre-holiday season weight through the New Year, so you can enjoy the holidays without deprivation and guilt.

While you can’t control external stress factors, don’t let the packed schedule keep you from your regular skin care routine, and always remember to remove your makeup before bed.

Hair products:

Are you rocking this season’s latest fringe trend (perhaps blunt and short à la Beyoncé)? Well, that cute cut could be causing pomade acne. “People don’t want to get their bangs wet. So they just move them to the side and won’t really wipe or cleanse their forehead properly,” Wall said. “Or it could be something that you’re using on your hair that’s too greasy — deep moisturizing shampoos and conditioners are an overkill of oils on your skin where it doesn’t need it.” Make sure to pin back your bangs with a headband or shower cap so that you thoroughly wash your hairline and forehead.

Why You Keep Getting the Same

Pimple Over & Over Again

Digestive system:

The forehead area is the place that coincides with the digestive system in Chinese medicine, so pimples in this area can be caused by an intestinal imbalance (read: you eat too much junk food). Plan for a week-long detox if the problem persists.

Have you ever wondered why every two weeks you always seem to get a breakout on your cheeks or forehead like in the exact same spot? Well, the truth is that dirt isn’t the only thing causing pimples. There are other factors that have nothing to do with your skin care regimen. Things like your hairstyling products, waxing schedule, and hormones can initiate a breakout. You can often pinpoint the problem by the location of the pimples. The ancient art of Chinese face mapping connected areas of the complexion with internal issues. For example, a pimple between the brows could have been a sign of an ailing liver. Now, we’re not taking things that far, but those same blackheads between your arches could mean you need to rethink your brow waxing appointments. We spoke with Kerry Wall, the brand manager and esthetician for The Organic Pharmacy in NYC, to get a better look at acne culprits (and solutions) based on where it’s happening. That way when hormone-induced pimples pop up on your chin every month, you’ll have a plan of attack prepared.

EYEBROWS: Makeup:

“A lot of people avoid exfoliating their brows because there’s hair there, but your arches still accumulate the same dirt,” Wall explains. Make sure that your brow area gets the same treatment your entire face receives, meaning extend masks and peels over the hair. If you fill in your brows with product.

Glasses:

It’s not necessarily your frames cau- Eyebrows sing the breakouts between the brows (even though dirty glasses do carry bacteria to the area); it’s more about the constant contact. “They’re rubbing and putting pressure on that area, and that stimulation is causing oil production,” Wall said.

Wax:

“When you wax an area, you’re pulling out the hair follicles and that leaves that open to infection,” Wall said. “You can very easily get spots and pimples in that area because it gets blocked a lot quicker.” She suggests planning your next brow touch-up appointment in the evening.

Upper Lip: Makeup:

We’re not saying you should give up your favorite lipstick, but the pigments could be causing inflammation. “A lot of lip colors have F, D, and C dyes, which are linked to causing blackheads and blockages,” Wall said. Make sure when you rock that bold lip color that you’re removing the shade fully before bed.

Wax:

Not only can you get unwanted breakouts from waxing the upper-lip area but you can start getting pimples before your mustache even appears! Women in their late 30s may begin to get whiteheads on the lip.

CHIN: Hormones:

“When you’re on your period your body is on natural detox,” Wall said. “You tend to get the hormonal acne, which is where you get breakouts across the chin, and it’s where the skin’s oil glands are overstimulated.” In preparation for that time of the month, double up on your clay mask regimen to keep the area extra clean.

Chin CHEEKS: Cell phone:

It’s time to go hands-free because your handheld is ruining your complexion. “Cell phones will hold bacteria, and bacteria can cause an infection within the pores and the sebaceous glands, which results in pimples,” Wall said. “When you put something hot on your face for a really long time, you’re going to get sweat and stimulate your oil-producing glands.” To prevent your electronics from causing a breakout, go wireless with a bluetooth headpiece.

NOSE: Diet:

Ever notice how pimples around your nose seem to pop up right after you’ve binged on fried foods? Cysts and blackheads around the nose can also be a sign of high blood pressure. Up your vitamin B intake, eat foods high in omega fatty acids, and exercise regularly to give your cardiovascular system a boost.

Smoking:

The Chinese face-mapping technique links the center of the face to the respiratory system. So, in that vein a cigarette habit could lead to increased acne due to impaired lung function. Not to mention the constant touching of the face that lighting up requires.

Places to Visit in 2015 GALLIPOLI, Turkey:

The Gallipoli Peninsula in north-western Turkey, about 300km from the capital Istanbul, has long been a place of pilgrimage for Australians and New Zealanders. But interest in the destination is expected to increase this year with the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the April 25 Anzac landing. More than 50,000 Aussies and Kiwis are expected to attend official Anzac Day celebrations at Gallipoli but those who do not have a ticket are advised to avoid travelling to Gallipoli around that time. However a range of coach tours and special centenary trips make it possible for visitors to see Gallipoli’s memorials and battlefields all year long.

FAROE ISLANDS:

Winner of the National Geographic reader’s choice award for the best trip to take in 2015, the Faroe Islands are a group of 18 islands situated about halfway between Iceland and Norway. On March 20 they will become one of only two places in the world (the other is Svalbard) where it will be possible to witness a total solar eclipse. On that day at precisely 9.41am the Islands will be plunged into total darkness as people from across the world gather together with Faroese locals to witness the rare event. After the eclipse there will be a variety of cultural- and musical events, as well as opportunities to try local Faroese foods.

SINGAPORE:

Singapore, a favourite stopover for Australian travellers, celebrates fifty years of independence in 2015, and was voted the top country to visit in 2015 by Lonely Planet. Its heritage buildings, hawker centres, green spaces and glitzy shopping malls have been luring travellers for decades, the travel guide publisher says. But a slew of new developments, including the Marina Bay entertainment precinct and a crop of swanky new hotels, is taking Singapore to a whole new level for visitors. Singapore is opening a number of new attractions in 2015, including the National Art Gallery and the Singapore Sports Hub, which will host the 28th Southeast Asian Games. While tucking into a plate of chilli crab at Lau Pa Sat will never go out of style, Singapore’s fine dining scene is taking off, with local restaurants beginning to get international recognition.

BOSNIA AND HERZOGOVINA:

Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of the most picturesque countries off the beaten path but thanks to the war that ended in 1995 it’s still flying very much under the radar – which makes now the perfect time to visit. Here you’ll find lush green landscapes, unspoilt nature, incredible views, and enchanting forests that are home to wolves and wild animals. In the south there’s a small stretch of coastline with crystal clear waters. Another bonus for travellers to Bosnia and Herzegovina is that food and living costs are incredibly cheap. The village of Blagaj southern Bosnia and Herzogovina also provides easy access to Mostar, Dubrovnik (Croatia), and Budva (Montenegro).

SAMOA: Along with its neighbours Tonga and Vanuatu, this climate-change-challenged South Pacific nation has been named among the top ten ethical destinations by Ethical Traveler. The list includes destinations that are doing the most to promote human rights, preserve their environment and support social welfare as well as offering natural beauty, outdoor activities and meaningful interaction with the locals. Visitors to the ten islands that make up Samoa will also experience picture postcard beauty including volcanic mountain peaks, cascading waterfalls, pristine beaches, blue lagoons and people proud of their cultural heritage. The markets of Apia, Samoa’s capital and largest town, offer a colourful slice of everyday life.

SANTIAGO, Chile: According to an analysis by Flight Centre, which compiled a list of hotspots based on booking data, customer inquiries and travel industry offers, the Chilean capital is set to be one of the most in-demand destinations of 2015. Santiago, which is now accessible by direct flights from Australia on Qantas, may not have the party vibe of Rio or Buenos Aires but it has something to offer the whole family. With the Andes to the east and Pacific to the west, visitors can hike, swim, sip coffee in a funky cafe and dance all in one day. Santiago is also a hub for museums, theatres and a flourishing arts scene.

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana US: A decade on from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans is back and on the list as one of the top ten cities to visit in 2015 by travel book publisher Rough Guides. And it’s being recognised not just as a tourist destination, but one of the world’s most exciting places for music and Creole cuisine. There are now more than 1400 restaurants in the city and the music scene is back in the swing of things, especially in the Upper Ninth Wards Musicians Village, which was built to rehouse performers displaced by the storm. But while you can still party in the French Quarter and the Marigny till dawn, just minutes away are neighbourhoods that are still struggling to rebuild. New Orleans might have been let down by nature and the government after Katrina, but its vibrant heart remains strong.

HAITI: Five years ago on January 12 a devastating earthquake rocked Haiti, with destructive aftershocks rippling out for weeks after. Recovery has been slow but tourism is starting to return to this fragile fragment of the Caribbean, described by its tourism ambassador as “Latin America with an African twist”. Several tour operators have introduced small-group tours to the world’s largest Creole country, including companies specialising in adventure tourism. Classic Caribbean beaches, dazzling birdlife, rum distilleries, voodoo folklore are all drawcards, as well as the remains of the early 19th-century Sans Souci Palace and the World Heritage listed Citadelle Laferriere – the largest fortress in the Americas.

CORSICA:

National Geographic Traveler includes the soulful island home of Napoleon Bonaparte in its list of must-see places for 2015. Two hundred years after Napoleon suffered his final military defeat, his birthplace of Corsica – also called “Island of beauty” — is stubbornly resisting its own cultural Waterloo. Though this Mediterranean island has deep, historic ties to Italy and has been part of France since 1769, its 300,000 inhabitants retain a fierce pride in their own unique culture, including the Corsican tongue. Corsica has numerous walking trails, including the 17-day GR20, the best known of Europe’s long-distance footpaths. May-June and September-October is the best time for hiking, biking and horse riding, but book your holiday for July-August if lazing around on beaches and water sports are more your thing.

GALAPAGOS ISLANDS: No list of top travel destinations is complete without a perennial bucket list location. Lying some 950 kilometres off South America’s coast, this Ecuadorian archipelago has been drawing nature-lovers to its remote shores ever since Charles Darwin set foot on the islands in 1835. Once a haven for pirates, the Galapagos Islands are home to an astonishingly diverse collection of flora and fauna, including the famous Galapagos giant tortoise and other species that are found nowhere else on the planet. Today, 97 per cent of the archipelago’s land area is protected by a national park but visitors can get close to wildlife on guided boat tours, scuba expeditions and hikes.

Victoria's Secret

Fashion Show

In 1977 Roy Raymond and his wife introduced to the world the largest and now most renowned lingerie brand: Victoria’s Secret. With only 40,000$ in their bank account they opened their very first store in California. In just the first year the shop was already on the road to success. And by 1980 Raymond and his wife had two more stores lined up, now in San Francisco. By 82 they had six stores and an annual income of a good six million dollars. By 2012 the brand sales were up to a rough six billion dollars. It is safe to say that over the years not only did it become a trademark but people could know a Victoria’s Secret product from afar. It is now an international franchise with stores all over the world not ready to stop any time soon. In December 2014, 37 years after it first came out the brand showcased its new collections. New and improved themes were demonstrated:

Gilded Angels:

Showcased lingerie drenched in gold accompanied with color coordinated embroidery and beadings.

Exotic Traveler:

This particular theme explored and showcased a wilder and exotic side of the brand with jewels and vibrancy of colors.

Dream Girl:

These were absolutely gorgeous and state of the art silhouettes with palates and laces giving a more funky and fun look to the concept of lingerie.

Fairy Tale:

These were princess like frocks with transcendental use of jewels and beads.

Angel ball:

This was a more sultry and seductive side of the brand with darker colors and glamorous use of cloth.

VPL

Pre-Fall 2015 Collection

V

ictoria Bartlett made a subtle but significant change to her collection for Pre-Fall: The signature “VPL” metal tag attached to each garment is now made of latex. “People can’t work out wearing metal,” Bartlett reasoned during a preview. There were always bits of the designer’s contemporary loungewear that could be worn to the gym, but now it’s all workout ready. This season the idea was to “reinforce the VPL DNA,” as Bartlett put it, by doing lots of color and fabric blocking. Stretch denim insets made you look twice at a pair of running leggings, while a draped sweatshirt and matching sweatpants with accents of hot orange offered the perfect wear all Saturday look. Bartlett designed a square neck halter sports bra for her friends who need extra support, although the silhouette was appealing regardless. And her take on a classic activewear look a trompe l’oeil marl stretch fabric was subtler than most, done in soft brown and charcoal. Many activewear fanatics like to wear their pieces long after the sweat evaporates, and Bartlett has made that an easy thing to do.

Giorgio Armani reworked some of his signature micrographic patterns in pre-fall in suits cut with new architectural proportions. These fabrics lent a sculptural element to several looks, in particular the technical polyester and silk fitted waist jacket with wide side slits that was paired with matching slim pants done with a faux-wrap drape to create the impression of an overskirt.

85 Singer / songwriter NAS was born and raised in Lahore, Pakistan. The Spellz, as he’s otherwise known, is currently residing in Toronto, Canada. A multi-talented artist, The Spellz writes, composes and sings his own songs. With a strong vision to become an international musician, the influence of various cultures is visible through his music. The essence of The Spellz is in Sufism. Their message of hope which is not restricted to one genre of music or language. This message transcends on various genres of music ranging from rock/fusion/electronic etc. In these ever changing times, the music of The Spellz incorporates various elements of cultures around the world. Incorporating poetries of great poets such as Baba Bulle Shah, Waris Shah, Ahmad Faraz, William Ernest and Langston Hughes as a part of his meaningful lyrics, The Spellz strives to make music which goes beyond being just entertaining. He would like to inspire the English, Urdu and Punjabi speaking populations globally, through strong inspirational and motivational messages in his songs.

M

usic:

A passionate musician, The Spellz started his musical journey in Lahore in 1999, with an underground band. After moving to Toronto in 2004, NAS took a break from music and shifted his focus on settling down in a new country. In 2012, Nas quit his job at a multinational corporation in New York, to pursue his passion for music. After connecting with Hassan Bokhari as lead guitarist and producer in Toronto, he finally laid down the foundations for The Spellz. To improve his skills as a vocalist, he has been taking vocal coaching lessons and has been learning other aspects including composition & production. Hassan started his journey as a producer/guitarist over 10 years ago. Recording and producing underground bands in Rawalpindi Pakistan. He moved to Toronto in 2006. Over the years produced full original albums, soundscapes for short films and numerous collaborations/sessions with various artists.

Hassan feels that the music of Spellz is all based on the experimentation with the fusion of various genres, which makes it ever exciting and fresh. Before making every song we start fresh on the drawing board and start from ground zero. Regardless of the popular demand we believe to make our own identity which caters to listeners who prefer quality music.

1. Let’s start off with yourselves. Please tell us how the duo was formed and what inspired the name The Spellz? The Spellz has two members with Nas (lead vocals and compositions) and Hassan (guitars and audio production). It was formed in late 2013 when I composed a song Bara Ishq and I was looking for a guitarist/producer.

I came across Hassan’s past work and was really impressed. We started jamming on Bara Ishq and later we started working on Life is Fine and Master of my fate songs. As we spent more time and got to work with each other more, we realized that we make a really formidable team and our songs are being loved so we should unite.

He got inspired and decided to join hands with us. A lot of effort went behind the scenes in making it happen but at the end of the day we are all happy that it was well received by the audience.

3. What was the experience like of working with an international star like Daniel Weber?

It was phenomenal. Daniel is an extremely kind hearted, hard working, passionate and humble artist. All qualities of a real and true artist. He understands the true emotions in music. When I spent time with in studio, I could see and feel immediately that he goes into a zone as well where it’s nothing else but just him and music. I am lucky to have met him and learn about the art and industry from him.

I named us “The Spellz” because when ever I compose songs, I go into a special zone where 4. Are there any specific genres, nothing else matters. It’s where true music overcomes every other noise. In that moment, which you are comfortable making I am not making music but music is making music in? Our main influence is rock music and even if me as an artist and person. It simply casts a we are trying to touch, other genres there will spell on me. So, I name us The Spellz. be a natural touch of rock music in our sound.

2. Your latest collaboration Sayonee/Turn The Page has received a 5. Since you are both Pakistanis great response in Pakistan. How did living abroad, have the different cultures you witnessed influenced this song come together? We love to try new ideas, concepts and genres. your music in any way? Monotony bores us. We felt that no one has ever tried to combine the East and Western rock songs. Sayonee by Junoon and Turn The Page by Bob Seager were two songs that we both loved from our teens and they had very similar ideologies by obviously treated differently by the original composers. Daniel heard our original song Life is Fine and he really liked our work, passion and quality. We rolled out the idea to him about doing this collaboration.

Absolutely and we are very lucky to have seen the golden age of Pakistan’s music industry. The time of Nusrat Fateh, Abida Perveen, Mehdi Hassan and bands like Junoon, Vital Signs, Strings, Awaz, Fringe Benefits, Najam, Yatagaan (if anyone remembers them) lol etc. We also got to hear a lot of good Bollywood music as well. At the same time, we listened to western music like Metallica, Guns and Roses, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Led Zeplin etc. So yes, I think listening to more styles and genres definitely is helping us now with compositions and styles.

6. Which musicians do you look up 9. Do you think Pakistanis have beto? come more open to collaborations I think we look up to the classics more than now? the new artists. In eastern music, Nusrat Fateh, Abida Perveen, Reshma, Mehdi Hassan and in west GnR, Sabbath, Floyd, Zeplin, Nirvana etc.

I think Nusrat Fateh showed it to us long time ago by working with western producers. I think Pakistanis artist are collaborating with in their four walls or as far as India. I haven’t seen many Pakistani artists collaborating 7. What are your future plans in with Middle Eastern, Western, Spanish, East Asian artists. I think artist feel that language terms of music? You never know what you can expect from The Spellz next but you can be assured that it will be good quality.

8. In your opinion, how important is a good music video for a song?

Videos are extremely important. A good video can cover for weaknesses in the audio department and on the other hand a bad video can really destroy a good song. Everything is visual these days and that’s why I see a lot of artists putting more time in video than audio. I personally don’t agree with that because at the end of the day we are musicians making songs. That’s why Hassan and I focus on the audio side as that’s our strength while Rehan Noorani handles all the video aspects for us. I am lucky to have him on my side as he has experienced working with Jami (Azaad Films) in Pakistan and can put things visually in perspective. So, we utilize his strength for the videos and so far the response has been phenomenal on videos as well.

10. What is your opinion about corporate sponsored music shows? I think it is great that big corporations are sponsoring local talents. Artists are generally not rich and require assistance of some sort to help promote their talents to masses. Unless you are a big name artist, new artists including The Spellz don’t have thousands of dollars to spend on marketing, social media and advertisements and all of these require monies. 9 out 10 times a new artist does not have the funds.Even if they have the funds, they do not know where/how to promote themselves. So a corporate sponsorship really helps a new artist big time and takes away the pressure from them and allows them to concentrate on the music only.

11. What would be your message for Fashion Central readers?

Love Pakistan. It is our motherland and we need to love it like it deserves. We need to do every thing possible to ensure that we bring good name to our country regardless of where we are situated.

Alone Movie Review

Audience’s one of the favourite genres ‘horror’ is here with Alone which is set to deliver some thrills and chills. So is it scary enough? Let’s find it out. Bhushan Patel who directed Ragini MMS 2 and 1920: Evil Returns has once again donned director’s hat for Alone with the most apt actress Bipasha Basu in the lead.

As a result they decide to separate through an operation despite the promise that had made of never separating from each other.

Anjana and Sanjana Is there something, which Sanjana is hiding? (played by Bipasha Basu) are twin sisters Is there something more than not keeping a

promise for which Anjana’s ghost is taking revenge? Find out in Alone, which is predictable but this is nothing to worry about. The biggest asset of the movie is horror scenes, which we had been craving to see. Over two hours horror drama doesn’t disappoint you in this department. While spook noises, dark ambiance, evil spirits are the quintessential elements in every horror flick, but are mostly incompetent to be carried with perfection, ‘Alone’ here sets these components at right place with perfect timing. It won’t spoil your mood with cheap thrills and you will be moved with the innovative ideas that are used to thrill you. Alone has already been asserted to be a horrex drama but don’t get carried away with its promos and songs which bends the movie more towards ‘sex’. Lovemaking scenes and sensual songs do occupy an appropriate chunk in the flick but without dissecting the main horror plot. Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover sizzle in these parts while their individual performances too are captivating. Bipasha Basu as a terrified lady in the beginning while as a ghost herself shines. Already expert in carrying such roles with excellence, Bipasha just takes her act to another level. Karan Singh Gorver flaunts his acting skills with same exactness that he carries while flaunting his body when required. As a caring boyfriend to Bipasha he plays his part well. Music by Ankit Tiwari and Mithoon is of top notch. Almost all the songs are beautiful and gel well with the story. With beautiful picturisation, the songs get more recall value. Awara and Katra Katra are our pick from the album. With some genuine scary moments and Bipasha-Karan’s scorching chemistry, Alone stands apart from numerous horrible horror flicks made in the past.

Alia Bhatt “I’d Like to Get Naughty With Hrithik”

She’s cool. Make that cool cube. Heck, coolness has a new definition. It’s Alia Bhatt. They say being cool is being yourself. It’s not bothering about what people have to say about you. That in effect delineates Alia Bhatt. She was cool when people laughed at her for her lack of general knowledge. She laughed at herself. That she’s laughing her way to the bank, is another story.

Are there times when you wish you weren’t an actress?

Right now, everything she touches is turning to gold. And she’s cool with that too. Her candour is endearing. She talks about wanting to be an actress since her childhood. And yet confesses that she hates having to look good every day. She has no qualms about sharing her most embarrassing moments, neither about the fact that she can burp very unladylike. She’s unapologetic about her kissing scenes or that she has kissed and regretted it. Told ya she’s kinda cool gal.

What are the three things we don’t know about you?

Did you always want to be an actress?

Yeah… But sometimes I wonder why I wanted to be an actress. I remembering sitting in my room watching Karisma Kapoor and Govinda dancing in some garden, I was bobbing my head and I said yeah this is fun. I re

No. Sometimes though I don’t want to look good, I want to have a bad hair day. I’m sure girls will connect with me, when they feel she’s not always looking good, she has a day when she looks normal. I believe it’s important to connect with people.

member every Sunday I’d would perform for my nana and nani.. I would do some dance number and they’d clap. I’d perform at birthday parties, at Christmas parties. Even as a kid, I wanted people to look at me. That I guess was a sign that I wanted to become an actor. So it all started with this craze to dance in front of people.

1. I have a fear of the dark. 2. I hate flying. 3. Songs can make me cry. There’s one more thing people don’t know about me. I burp loudly without shame, I don’t care who’s around, I just burp.

What’s your most embarrassing moment?

I once went for a school race without wearing my underwear. I just went wearing my shorts and I realised only after reaching school.

One actor you would love to get naughty with?

Hrithik Roshan.

He is single now, na?

One thing you miss doing as a normal girl.

Going to malls. I liked shopping at Palladium Mall. Now I can’t do that.

What do you do when you’re not shooting?

I chill with my friends. I do normal things like I go for a movie or then watch movies at home. If I have enough time I take a holiday.

Who do you confide your secrets in? Abhishek Varman (director of 2 States).

What turns you on in a man?

A nice perfume, a good sense of humour. But a good looking man haan.

What turns you off in a man?

A MCP. Bad breath also is also a big put off. I can still deal with body odour but bad breath? No. He should have a sense of humour and I should be able to have a conversation with him. I hate people who only talk about themselves.

Do you have a type of guy you like? I like the bad boy type. I hate nice people.

Have you ever kissed and regretted?

Yeah. I am not going to tell you whom. I can’t tell you the instance. But yes I regret it very much.

One thing you want that Parineeti Chopra and Shraddha Kapoor have?

Parineeti has Aditya Chopra, YRF. Shraddha has Tum hi ho (Aashiqui 2) and Galliyan (Ek Villain).

Weirdest thing a fan has done?

I genuinely believe they can. I’ve hung out with Shraddha and Parineeti and they’re cool. I don’t see why you have to have this ‘oh we have to be like this’, just because you’re competitors. I can be friends with anyone if I hang out with them.

Directors you want to work with.

You wanted to style Parineeti at one point.

It wouldn’t be weird but creative. This fan sent me a book on my birthday called The Chronicles Of Alia. He’d written down everything from the time I was born to the present day. It was done very creatively.

Rajkumar Hirani, Ayan Mukerji and Zoya Akhtar.

Candlelight dinner or long drive?

Burger at home. If I have to choose then probably a long drive. I hate candlelight dinners.

What would your advice be to young girls and boys?

I’m the wrong person to advice anyone. I’d like every girl to love herself more than anyone else. That’s the only way they’ll never land up hurting themselves. Boys need to be honest and straightforward. Sometimes girls get attached to guys much faster than guys get attached to them. So if guys see that happening, they should tell the girl to slow down. Girls are more sensitive that’s why I say love your self more. When you love someone you forget about yourself. You become a doormat and let everyone walk over you. You stop caring about yourself. That shouldn’t happen.

What if you like someone and things don’t work out?

I am a fighter. Also I’m stubborn. I’ll fight till I can. After a while I will just give up. But I also believe if you love someone set them free. If they come back, they’re yours. If they don’t they never were.

Do you believe actresses can be friends?

She wanted me to style her; I didn’t want to style her. Who am I to style anyone? When we met, we spoke about losing weight. Huma Qureshi, Parineeti and me. We spoke about getting into shape and we were like, “Yeah! Come on we should do it.” Parineeti was like ya people should see the transformation. That’s when this came up. We were so excited that we three would change our image.

Friendships in the industry don’t really work, na?

That’s not true. I have great friendship with the guys I’ve worked with. Whether it’s Sidharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan, Arjun Kapoor or Randeep Hooda. Varun and Sidharth have a strong friendship. Ranveer Singh and Arjun are thick friends. They don’t have to talk everyday to have a strong friendship. They’re always looking out for each other. Whenever they meet it’s like two best friends meeting, there’s no animosity between them at all. It’s because they’re mature, they’re smart. Like while we were promoting 2 States, I also promoted Ek Villian and Main Tera Hero. It should be like that, it shouldn’t be a war.

Do you feel the younger lot is much more chilled out?

I am asked this question a lot. I don’t know the older lot. I don’t know the dynamics they shared. So I really don’t know whether we’re more chilled out than them.

Salman Khan

“I Want to Have Kids Without a Wife”

T

here is one unavoidable truth about Salman Khan. He possesses the kind of godly fame that only a few on the planet can enjoy. It is the kind of fame that pervades everything he attempts. Yet despite this incomprehensible degree of celebrity, he’s as unpretentious as they come. The actor somewhere personifies his charitable organisation, Being Human. Perhaps the key to Khan’s breezy navigation through the pitfalls of superstardom is some strong compartmentalisation and the fact that he doesn’t take himself too seriously.

At this stage of your career, has your criteria of choosing a film changed?

When I was hearing the film, I was having a blast. I do the kind of films I’d go to the theatre to watch.

No, it’s still the first narration. It all depends on that. If I hear it and my reaction is, ‘Man, I need to do this. It’s awesome.’ I’ll do it. Anything less than that won’t do. If I have to go back to a script and think of it, it’s a no-no.

For many actors, their love for acting comes from being able to vicariously live different characters. Since you don’t do those kinds of What was the first thing about Kick movies, what is the biggest joy for you then? that made you say yes? The whole feel of the film yaar. The plot, the screenplay, the production value of it. The correctness of this plot and the humour in it. Just the whole package.

(Laughs) I find it difficult to live in my own body. When I do a film, I automatically transform. But it’s still me. Albeit a different shade of me. So there’s no character as such.

Sprawled on a chair in his mini tent at Mehboob Studio, he’s smiling from ear to ear as he says, “Best to chill out and take things as they come in life. I live by that.” That affable charm and casual demeanour sets the tone for our interview, as Salman insouciantly gives us a glimpse into his movie choices. It’s a different side of me. If you ask me about Kick, I have no character in the film. Plus, I don’t do the kind of films where I need to switch on and switch off. I am switched on all the time.

Do you ever feel the need to experiment with those films at all?

(Laughs) All the films I do are experimental.

But you’re doing Shuddhi, which is an intense film. Something people wouldn’t usually associate with you… No, it’s not an intense movie. It’s a love story.

You’ve shared a warm camaraderie with the producer Sajid Nadiadwa

la for many years now. How different was it to work with Sajid, the director?

Sajid and I go back a long time. So there’s no new role. Sajid has been a hands-on producer. And a hands-on producer is almost like a director. The fact that he signs different directors and approves scripts for most of his films and most of those films do well, means he has a good script sense. So I knew he won’t make a bad film.

How do you deal with the Friday pressure after so many years? Does it get easier with each release?

Nahin yaar. That thoda thoda is always there. Simply because we work so hard on each film and naturally want our films to be accepted by the audience every single time. So that you know you are thinking in the right direction.

Yes, your films have usually set box-office benchmarks…

Not all. Yes, it’s a nice feeling to make and break records but one shouldn’t get too used to it because it’s not going to happen every time. So no point competing with previous records. I believe we should work hard, try our best and then let people decide if they like the film or not.

When was the last time you were affected because a film of yours didn’t do well – something you strongly believed in?

Affected, pata nahin. But there are some films you don’t expect anything out of and they do so well. Like Saajan did back in the day. It became a blockbuster. And there are times when you expect so much out of a film but it fails, like Andaaz Apna Apna.

But Andaaz Apna Apna enjoys a cult status today…

Yes but what use is a cult classic if the producer doesn’t get anything out of it? We are in a money making business at the end of the day. The producer must make money.

After 26 years, is there something you don’t like about the movie business?

Yes, the promotions. Earlier we used to finish our dubbing and be done with the film. Then, the producer would go out and promote the movie. Now the game has changed. The actor has to promote the film. It’s a big traas (pain). And promotions are just getting cheaper. People are going to any limits to promote their film. It’s ridiculous. I feel the audience should see the promos and songs of the film and then decide if they want to watch the movie or not.

We should do a few interviews here and there but that’s it.

You’ve always had a set of Salman Khan loyalists, who watch your films come what may. And their numbers have only increased over the years. Must make you proud, no?

Not really. It’s a myth. If people don’t like the promo of my film, they won’t go watch it in the theatre. They may see it some other time on TV or something because they like me but they won’t pay money for it. Otherwise all my films would have been super-duper bumper hits.

You’ve constantly maintained that you’re not a very good judge of people. Have you improved over the years?

I don’t think so. But it actually doesn’t matter to me. Everybody puts their best foot forward usually. Plus, everyone has their set of negative qualities. It’s best to focus on the positives. It’s not like I have to marry the person. I have many negative qualities too. So if you like a few good qualities about someone, stick to those. Let the negatives be.

Have you learnt to deal with negativity around you better?

Positivity gives me a boost to do better. Negativity gives me a boost to try and prove people wrong. So I use both of them positively. Yes, if I see somebody reacting to me in a negative manner, it would bother me at that point of time. Initially, I may defend myself but after sitting back and thinking about it, if I’m wrong, I’ll change it. I’ll make amends. But if I am not, I will maintain my stance.

What do you do to unwind?

My life is unwound. Now from this holiday of Kick, I am going to the holiday of Sooraj Barjatya’s, Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo. I am working right now. My life is one big holiday.

This is probably your first interview where you haven’t smoked. Have you given up smoking for good?

I don’t smoke. I have never smoked. Who told you that?

You are B-town’s eternal eligible bachelor. Don’t you maybe want to change that tag? Yes, I want to have kids. But I want to have kids without a wife. Then again, I also want my kids to have a mother.

That sounds complicated. But people who know you say you’re far from complicated… (Grins) That’s why I am not doing anything about it.
