FASHION REVOLUTION WEEK IS HAPPENING 19-26 APRIL, 2022 SIGN UP
Fashion Revolution Week is the time when we come together as a global community to create a better fashion industry. It centres around the anniversary of the Rana Plaza factory collapse, which killed 1,138 people and injured many more on 24 April 2013. This year, as we mark 8 years since the tragedy, Fashion Revolution Week will focus on the interconnectedness of human rights and the rights of nature. Our campaign will amplify unheard voices across the fashion supply chain and harness the creativity of our community to explore innovative and interconnected solutions.

Fashion Revolution is a global movement with a collective vision for a fashion industry that conserves and restores the environment and values people over growth and profit. Fashion Revolution Week is our annual campaign bringing together the world’s largest fashion activism movement for seven days of action surrounding the anniversary of the Rana Plaza factory collapse on 24th April 2013.

MONEY FASHION POWER The mainstream fashion industry is built upon the exploitation of labour and natural resources. Wealth and power are concentrated in the hands of a few, and growth and profit are rewarded above all else. Big brands and retailers produce too much too fast, and manipulate us into a toxic cycle of overconsumption. Meanwhile, the majority of people that make our clothes are not paid enough to meet their basic needs, and already feel the impacts of the climate crisis - which the fashion industry fuels. As global citizens, we all have the power to take action. This Fashion Revolution Week, join us in reimagining a just and equitable fashion system for people and the planet. Now is the time to rise up together for a regenerative, restorative and revolutionary new fashion system. Now is the time for a Fashion Revolution.

THERE IS NO SUSTAINABLE FASHION WITHOUT FAIR PAY. Throughout the pandemic, fashion brands have made billions, while the majority of workers in their supply chains remain trapped in poverty. To address this, we are calling for new laws that require businesses to conduct due diligence on living wages. This will transform the lives and livelihoods of the people that make our clothes, and help redistribute money and power in the global fashion industry.

DO SOMETHING
Post a picture or video holding one of our posters on Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, Facebook or whatever platform you use. Tag the brand you’re wearing and ask them #WhoMadeMyClothes? One of the simplest ways we can push for industry change is by using social media to challenge brands and hold them accountable to the people in their supply chain during Fashion Revolution Week. We know from our research that they are paying close attention to the demands of their customers - and that these simple pleas for transparency can effect major changes in even the biggest fashion brands. Some brands won’t answer at all. Some might tell you where your clothes were made but not who made them. Some will direct you to their corporate social responsibility policy. Only a few pioneers will show that they are doing fashion in a way that empowers workers and respects nature. Let us know how they respond by tagging us at @fash_rev. If a brand doesn’t respond, keep asking. Our power is in persistence.

DO SOMETHING
Ask brands #WhoMadeMyFabric on social media Global garment and textile supply chains are long, complex and opaque. We demand justice for the people at every stage of the production process. This includes people who make the fabrics in our clothes. Use your social media channels to ask brands #WhoMadeMyFabric, encouraging them to disclose their textile production sites and take accountability for the working conditions of the people that spin, weave and dye their fabrics.

Who pays living wages?
Dear _______ [Policymaker], I am your constituent and I care about the people who make my clothes. It is important to me that fashion companies pay their garment and textile workers a living wage and that policymakers hold them accountable. Fashon Revolution’s 2021 Fashion Transparency Index found that only 1% of the world’s largest fashion brands and retailers publish the number of workers in their supply chain being paid a living wage. Only 4% publish a time-bound roadmap to acheive living wages. Right now, the majority of textile and garment workers cannot afford to live in decent housing, eat healthy food or go to the doctor. They even struggle to send their kids to school. A living wage is not a luxury, it is a fundamental human right. I would like you to tell me what you are doing to address the lack of living wages in the fashion industry.
Sincerely, YOUR NAME

Demand a living wage for the people who make our clothes. Help us get to one million signatures for #GoodClothesFairPay Wearing good clothes means the people who made them receive fair pay for their work. But right now, the majority of textile and garment workers cannot afford to live in decent housing, eat healthy food or go to the doctor. They even struggle to send their kids to school. A living wage is not a luxury, it is a fundamental human right. We demand laws that protect the human right to fair pay. We want to see a living wage for the people who make our clothes around the world. The EU has the power to change this.

I care, I repair When we wear clothes we adore again and again, they can start to show signs of wear and tear. A rip, a missing button or a stain should never stand in the way of you and a good outfit. From now on, don’t throw them out, try your hand at repairing. Make your clothes last longer by repairing them when they need it. Get creative; make your broken seams, holes and tears into a fashion statement.

WE NEED BRANDS TO RADICALLY REDUCE THEIR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT. We know that both people and nature are paying the price of the fashion industry’s unregulated exploitation and waste. Brands are avoiding the realities of climate breakdown by continuing to pursue extractive business models and greenwashing their way to sustainability. In 2022, we need brands to radically reduce their environmental impact by shifting their focus away from growth. Small businesses and independent creatives around the world are already enacting these ideals; their courage and wisdom will lead the charge. org

Ask brands #WhatsInMyClothes on social media We believe everyone can use their voice and power to encourage change. Asking brands #WhatsInMyClothes starts a conversation about the demand for materials which don’t generate massive environmental impacts, leak microfibres into our oceans and compromise human health and nature’s ecosystems. This should always include the impact on people who make the fabrics and the clothes we wear.
