Fashion for 2011: Authentic Gucci Handbag Fall 2011 Collection Take note fashionistas! The Gucci Handbags for Fall 2011 are exquisite and among the best designs of the whole year by any label. It seems Gucci is returning to its’ roots of class and sophistication. We actually like their handbags from the past couple of collections, but this one is by far, the best. For a few years after Tom Ford left the company, it seemed the new head designer, Frida Giannini, wanted to shift the brand towards the young and rich, dumbing down the designs in the process (anyone remember the cartoons). Well this collection is far from that.
With clothes offering an abundance of texture and color for fall, Frida Giannini made the right move by keeping her accessories subtle and, for the most part, understated. The majority of the collection shown on the runway was small and restrained. The idea, it would seem, is that theluxury handbags are meant to complement, not dominate, the outfits. Evident in the crocodile and snakeskin candy color coated bags above.
Remember when designers back in the 1980s showed big mama bags with little bags piggybacking? It would appear that Gucci is bringing that concept back! Above we see large and small croc combinations with metal clasps, buckles and straps. Actually these bags look kind of heavy, but definitely durable and perfect for Fall 2011.
Plenty of models at the Gucci show sported oversized Jackie-O bags with a smaller framed handbag, some of them featuring contrast piping, hanging off their fingertips. I love the silhouette! This being the company’s 90th anniversary year, Giannini paid homage to the late Guccio Gucci with the ever-present double GG buckle logo in a fluid shape. We also have taken notice of some suede hobo designs making an appearance in the collection, nice for Fall as well.
Wrapping up the collection we admire Gucci for taking a walk on the wild side with their use of exotic animal skin, lively colors and luxurious buckle detailing.
