Fashionable Food: Go Picnic Delivered to Your Doorstep Fashionistas who are not so domestically inclined to prepare meals on a regular basis should be happy about Go Picnic products. Too often do we resort to fast food restaurants seeking refuge from tedious food preparation, only to turn around and want to fit in the latest couture designs, not so much! Wikifashionista sat down with the founder of Go Picnic, Julia Stamberger to get the scoop on this convenient product. WikiFashionista: What are the benefits of a gluten-free diet? Julia Stamberger: For celiacs, a gluten-free diet helps them to avoid the discomfort and inflammation caused by their reactions to gluten. Depending on the level of sensitivity of an individual, this can be mild to very severe discomfort, and long-term gluten exposure can cause serious health problems. The gluten-free diet is becoming popular among people looking for a healthier option in general, but unless you have a gluten sensitivity, it’s not necessarily a better one for many people over other options. Most dieticians recommend that someone be officially diagnosed as gluten intolerant before starting a gluten-free diet if they believe they’re gluten sensitive, because after one starts eliminating gluten completely from their diet, the condition is difficult to definitively diagnose. Glutenfree diets have also been used to assist with other conditions like autism, where they’ve been demonstrated to be helpful. WikiFashionista: Which are your most popular food packages? Julia Stamberger: Our hummus + crackers meal is our most popular – and not only is it really tasty, high in protein & fiber, but it’s suitable for vegan, kosher and gluten-free diets. Our salami + cheese meal a close second, though!

Hummus + Crackers: All-Natural Meal 24g Protein • 12g Fiber • 410 Calories Salmon + Crackers: All-Natural Meal 22g Protein • 11g Fiber • 410 Calories WikiFashionista: How successful has the custom meals program been? Julia Stamberger: We produce custom meal programs for many clients, including large airlines like Delta and JetBlue. We partner with these airlines to provide their meals that fit their passenger base and menu requirements. These programs get great feedback, from the very first custom shelf-stable meal program I designed for United Airlines back in 2004. Our meals help airlines to provide high quality, consistent and tasty food options inflight despite a very complicated catering supply chain for domestic flights. WikiFashionista: How do you keep the Go Picnic foods fresh for consumption?

Julia Stamberger: We work with food manufacturers who employ high technology packaging methods (like high barrier film and techniques like nitrogen flush). The processes used to package our food items are longer and more expensive than other options, but they keep high quality food fresh longer without refrigeration, just like salt curing or smoking. We also use very high quality food ingredients, which also helps with food shelf life. In fact, most items we use in GoPicnic meals contain no artificial preservatives, including everything in our All-Natural line. We strive to keep our ingredient labels short & legible, and full of food you can find in your own kitchen (not a science lab!). WikiFashionista: Where can we purchase Go Picnic products? Julia Stamberger: Online, at stores like amazon.com, gopicnic.com and costco.com, at Cost Plus World Market stores nationwide, Wegman’s grocery stores, Barnes & Noble college stores and Paradies airport shops. We’re adding lots of locations every month – check our website for up to date location information. WikiFashionista: What Go Picnic product do you recommend first time consumers must try? And why? Julia Stamberger: Pick the meal that sounds best to you – everyone has their own favorite! Mine is our salmon + crackers meals; other GoPicnic folks love tuna, peanut butter, or turkey stick, and salami is always a favorite!

We love to share this with our readers. Where are you getting married? Where did you find your dress? Julia Stamberger: We’re getting married this summer in Marfa, Texas, a small town filled with artists in the West Texas desert; it’s also known for the most amazing stars at night, and our hotel is where the cast of Giant stayed while they were filming that movie – we’ll have the Rock Hudson suite for our bridal suite (James Dean only rated a room with a double bed back then!) We have a twin Elvis/Johnny Cash theme for our wedding, and Texas’ favorite honky tonk star Dale Watson will be performing at the ceremony. The whole GoPicnic team will be there!

I found my dress at Kleinfeld’s in New York, and am actually headed there now for the 3-day fitting – this was really hard to squeeze into my schedule, but I’m taking my fiancé with me so we can finalize last-minute wedding details on the trip – and there are a ton of those left! We pretty much do everything where we find ourselves, and will continue on from NYC to trade shows in Boston and Phoenix and finish the planning somehow along the way.
