s the editor in chief, working for this magazine is not an easy thing. There is so much more to fashion than just fancy or expensive clothing. Fashion is about how you express yourself through your clothing, be it a ten dollar sandal or a five thousand dollar Louis Vuitton. These clothing will never be relevant without the sole purpose of expressing one-self. It is not about what you are wearing, it is about how and why you wear them.

ASHION needs variety of ideas to colour and cherish contents in magazine. Same goes with fashion. It was so challenging though in terms of choosing, designing and editing because as seniors for this project, it is my responsibility to make sure that everything is on track and most important is it catches attention.

here is a mutual bond between fashion and music. As much as people want to hear the latest music, they will definitely love to have the current insight on the fashion industry. For example, people would go crazy for Kanye’s Yeezy as much as they would when Kanye drops a single overnight. This is how powerful fashion is. It is very influential.

always love this quote by Coco Chanel which goes ‘A girl should be two things; classy and fabulous.’ It explains enough about what fashion is. I would say that magazine and women need fashion. That is how one’s life feels complete. Never feel afraid to mix everything as it is a source of creativity.

ana Tajima was a fashion student who studied at Somerset College of Arts and Technology. She has collaborated with Uniqlo and it was the most exciting stage of career for her. Her passion in fashion grew when she converted to Islam at the age of 17 years old as she believes in “a different take on modest fashion.” From that moment, she has helped herself to create an identity for herself through fashion by combining the Japanese and Western fashion as a nod to her heritage. Hana Tajima used to have a dream to produce a cool and comfortable hijab especially for girls who love sports. She came out with hijab innerwear headscarves and headbands that are made from breathable fabric. Her first range of hijab has become one of the

top selling points. Besides that, she has also managed to start off with her collection on modest clothings. These include long dresses, pleated skirts and trousers that made from AIRism fabrics by UNIQLO. This material can quickly absorb and dissipate sweat. The outfits are perfect as office appropriate and casual as well. They are basically inspired by Hana Tajima’s personal taste and also focused on international appeal while keeping the concept of modest wear. Hana Tajima was amazed by the reaction shown in public. She never thought that people would be very open upon towards the idea and tolerate with different aesthetic and take on the beauty. Her inspirations are very meaningful for everyone especially for Muslim women.
How was the design processes with UNIQLO like?
Why do you want to take the hijab to the masses?
“The processes were incredibly personal. Usually, I will shut myself for couple of weeks in my studio and just dive in. I will feel like, sort of disappear from the world and enter another. After seeing the ideas are make sense to me, I will share it with my wonderful team in UNIQLO.”
“In my opinion, it is important to recognise each other on a human level because we would want to understand the variety of complexities in other life. It is also about offering a different aesthetic regardless of culture or religion and giving an alternative voice in fashion as clothing is something that we relate to. Due to that, I’m sure it could help us to find connections with each other.”
Did you face any challenges along the way? If so, how did you overcome it? “There was a day where something happen when I get back to the studio. I started draping and after four to five hours it will gone by. As soon as I explore a new thing, it will make me feel not able to stop. It’s a sort of meditation for me actually.”

BAG versus OUTFIT
HOW TO MATCH YOUR HANDBAG & OUTFIT by Nur Hasnida Fazira binti Waili
W
omen getting dressed up, it is one of our chores. Sometimes, you don’t even bother to put all together the good outfits on you especially when you are in rush. This may be influenced by women’s basic knowledge about the need for a bag that serves it purpose; lots of pockets, a nice comfortable carrying mechanism, ample room and many more. Well, it is still called as fashion as there is no rule in matching and mixing the outfits and bags. However, there is an easy way to work on your over-all look that is by matchy your outfit and bag. Tips: To have a look, you have to style your outfit and handbag accordingly that is by knowing your plan or event on that particular day. Keep in mind that there are several things that you still need to consider in choosing handbag such as colour, pattern, size and shape. Generally, your bag should carry the theme of your outfit. Try
7

to not match the bag and outfit identically in print or colour because it will cause clashes. Pick only one or two colours that displayed on your shoes or clothes or vice versa. Matching time! Utilitarian chic and on-the-go style For this occasion, you can put your tote handbag on with tailored trouser suits for the office or match it with a bit of glamour yet casual outfit such as tunic and skinny jeans. Plus, the shape of tote handbag is suitable for carrying paper, laptops or folders. Besides that, a bright colour tote handbag can be used as a striking addition to a smart black suit or for a shopping trip as it will help to lift up your outfit from the shadows. Fun and quirky It is more advisable to get a bright coloured and printed bag for this purpose as it is a great
choice to have fun with your outfit. A simple sling bag perhaps can goes in with a flowy skirt, a hat and a pair of booties. If you got a printed piece and printed bags on you, you can mix it similarly or complementarily in materials or tones for an easy match. A bold coloured bag with equally bold prints will make you stands out easily too. Evening wear Gorgeous faces and dress up are not enough to embrace the elegance or ooze glamour. You would probably need a clutches or tube clutches to avoid from headache of discomfort and over-sized bag as well. Clutches is always a good choice for you to show off that sexy back via a backless gown so that you can play with the style and will never go unnoticed in a crowd. A quick tip, if you put on a plain dress then match it with metallic materials or jewelled clutches.
