CLUB RISQUE HOSTS 2ND ANNUAL BIKES AND BABES BIKE SHOW On June 26th, Club Risqué in Northeast Philly held its Second Annual Bikes and Babes Bike Show and it was a tremendous success! Bikes from Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania came out en force to be entertained and have lots of fun! In addition to a fabulous free bike show, dozens of gorgeous women, rockin’ vendors and Delmarva Motorcycle Hearse’s traffic-stopping carriage (a fitting final ride tribute for any biker), the amazing Huffy the Biker Clown entertained guests with balloon sculptures that you have to see to believe (OMG!). Riders posed on bikes with the Club Risqué ladies for photo ops and there were several impromptu photo shoots going on at any given moment. Club Risqué provided bikers with tempting sausage and pepper, roasted pork, Philly cheesesteak sandwiches and cold beer at the outside beer garden. Inside the club, the lovely ladies of Club Risqué performed in their usual upscale, sensuous style. Although a third annual event hasn’t been planned yet, you may want to keep that last Sunday in June open for what promises to be bigger, better and sexier!! Be sure to visit Club Risqué at www.ClubRisque.com for their entertainment and event schedule!

we invite any bike with LEDs to meet in Dead Freddies’ parking lot to register for our Parade of Lighted Bikes and Bike Show. Parade will begin promptly at 9 p.m. Friday night is the Miss Fast Lane Biker Babe Bikini Contest and women over 21 are invited to participate for cash prizes and possible cover/centerfold photo shoot that will appear in a future issue of FLBD. Ladies – be sure to bring your bikini! Saturday night is the now notorious Leather & Lace Ball. Ladies are encouraged to wear their most tastefully tawdry biker apparel (FLBD understands that most guys feel “dressed up” in a clean pair of jeans and fresh t- shirt). We will also be holding our annual Hot Cougar Contest. Women over 35 are encouraged to strut their stuff. This is not a bikini event but sexy attire is encouraged. Winner will be photographed for a future issue of FLBD. We’d like to welcome our special guest bike builder this year - Strip Club Choppers VA. An SSC stripper pole bike will be on display throughout the weekend and may be the center of some impromptu contests. Don’t forget the mechanical bull riding, Huffy the Biker Clown and perhaps a visit by the Diamond State Roller Girls. Anything is possible! The live music line up this year includes: Thursday/ Saturday night is Great Train Robbery and Friday night is Reckoning. We still have a couple of vendor spots available at our booty-shaking good time weekend. Please contact walt@flbdelmarva.com if interested. Until then keep the shiny side up and the rubber side down.
an you feel the excitement? We can! The entire FLBD crew is preparing for our 3rd annual biker bash at Dead Freddies On The Bay, 64th & Coastal Highway, during Bike Week in Ocean City, MD, September 15th thru 18th. But first let’s take a look at the very interesting differences in this year’s bike week celebration because, as many of you are aware, there will actually be two separate and distinct bike week events running simultaneously. Delmarva Bike Week® will be held at four locations: Seaford Harley-Davidson, Winter Place Park in Salisbury, Arthur W. Perdue Stadium in Salisbury and Seacrets in Ocean City. This is the traditional celebration with a proven track record of being a very good event. You can find more information and schedule of events at www. delmarvabikeweek.com. Bike week attendees will also have the option of attending a new bike week celebration, OC Bikefest. This event is being held at the Inlet in the town of Ocean City, MD and it looks as though this will be a good time as well. For more information and event schedule, visit www. ocbikefest.com. FLBD wishes much success to both events and appreciates that both entities recognize the value of advertising in Fast Lane Biker Magazine. With an expected 200,000 motorcyclists joining the festivities all we can say is “WOW!” – this will be one awesome party!! Speaking of parties, let’s get back to FLBD’s plans for an incredible time. As we mentioned, our home base will be Dead Freddie’s On The Bay. Beginning on Thursday, September 15th at 10 a.m. and continuing thru noon on Sunday, September 18th, FLBD is inviting all of you to come on out and Party Like A Pirate… ARRRRRR!!! There will be vendors, beer garden, great food, music, games and activities during the day. Once the sun sets over the yard arm (that’s 7 p.m. to you landlubbers) the adult fun begins. Don’t want to wait? You can always stop for happy hour at 4 p.m. and settle in for dinner while you wait for the festivities to begin. Thursday night’s activities include a “Pirate & Wenches” – themed biker meet and greet hosted by MDBunny and welcoming members of BON and other adult biker social networking sites. Pirate attire is encouraged, but optional. There will also be adult themed games, contests and lots of impromptu fun. Got LEDs? Thursday night at dusk

SENIOR MOMENT Name: Florian ‘Raven’ Ducote Age: 68 Location: Smyrna, DE Florian “Raven” Ducote was born on September 1, 1942 in Alexandria, Louisiana where he resided until moving to Delaware at age 10. Raven now resides in Smyrna, he is single and the proud father of three boys and two stepdaughters. Raven purchased his first bike in 1960. It was a 1948 Harley Davidson and it was green or, as Raven put it, “the color of baby poo.” Over the years he has owned seven Harley Davidsons and currently owns a 2006 Street Bob painted black cherry with red flames. His son BJ works with Randy Connell and painted the pin stripes on the bike. Raven does a lot of the work on his bike but for major jobs he takes his bike to Mike’s Famous. Raven’s first job was at Kelly’s Hamburgers where burgers sold for 15 cents, with or without cheese. He enjoyed a career as a welder but is now enjoying retirement even more. His favorite movies are The Wild One and Easy Rider. He is also a fan of the Sons of Anarchy. At home, he enjoys playing with his back hoe and shooting guns. He has a self-made shooting range in his back yard where he fires his Smith & Wesson 22 and his automatic Walther 380. After a big day of riding, digging and shooting, it’s off to bed at 8 p.m. Raven is a member of the Moose and has been an officer for the past five years. He enjoys going to local bike nights and meeting women - especially the younger variety. One of his favorite motorcycle events is BiketoberFest in Daytona Beach. His longest rides were to the Poconos and from Daytona Beach to Key West. He enjoys riding “but not the sore ass.” Raven respects ALL veterans and is willing to help when he can to cut through the government benefits red tape with help from the Vietnam Veterans MC. His brother-in-law was awarded the Purple Heart but was unable to get benefits through the government until Raven directed him to the Vietnam Veterans. Raven “thanks” all men and women that have served, and are serving, our country today. Best wishes to his friend Sir J who is heading out to serve our country. When asked what he has learned over his lifetime, Raven sends this message to the younger generation: “Don’t get caught!”. Raven hopes to be remembered as a good person and has planned to be cremated, cast into a cement anchor, and placed at sea to serve his country as an artificial reef and will never stop riding the waves.

1-888-CYCLE-LAW . LeeGaber@cycleattorney.com Even though it has been many years since the helmet law in PA has been repealed, this issue isn’t going away any time soon. The current law allows a licensed operator who is over 21 and has 2 years of riding experience and/or has completed the motorcycle safety course, to ride without a helmet. The law is once again under attack in PA, as several congressmen are in the process of preparing a bill to rescind the law. Truthfully, I am not familiar enough with the current crop of legislators to know whether this bill will pass, but given the conservative nature of the legislature, I would not be surprised if PA will once again require all motorcyclists to wear a helmet. For more information on this I suggest you contact your local A.B.A.T.E. Chapter.
I Love Biker Events!
Adding fuel to the fire, I just read an article about a rider, who while participating in a helmet law protest ride in New York, was killed when he was involved in a one-motorcycle accident. Apparently he died from a fractured skull and according to the emergency room physicians, had he been wearing a helmet, he would have survived. Given the irony of this situation, I am sure that all of the states trying to re-enact helmet laws will get a lot of mileage out of this sad turn of events.
I have entertained Willie “G”, Michele Smith, Bike Builders and just plain old bikers with or without their kids. I’m a true biker clown and have been riding for almost 40 years. I make balloon creations (my specialty is a motorcycle of course) and I DJ for all ages.

On another note, although most of the conversations about injuries involve helmets, most of my clients do not suffer head injuries, but more commonly suffer from broken bones in addition to “road rash”. Although road rash is not life threatening, it is often described as the most painful type of injury suffered. Anyone who has ever had to endure the pain involved in the debridement process (scrubbing of the wound with a wire-like brush to clean out gravel, dirt etc.) and dressing and re-dressing of the wounds often say it is the most painful situation they have been through. I recently witnessed this first-hand as I was with a client who was having her bandages peeled off in order have her wounds cleaned and re-dressed. The pain she experienced during this procedure must have excruciating based upon her sobbing and cries of distress as this was taking place.

I mention this because as the weather turns warmer, many riders wear nothing more than a tank or t-shirt and some even where shorts and sneakers. However tempting this may be, at a bare minimum, no matter the weather, everyone should have on boots, jeans and at least a long-sleeve t-shirt and some type of gloves. There are also many light-weight mesh jackets that can be worn with minimal discomfort. This clothing, while perhaps slightly uncomfortable, will protect you from a great deal of pain if you are ever involved in an accident. So while the helmet issue may grab the headlines, I would suggest that whether you chose to wear a helmet or not, at a minimum you should wear as much protective gear as possible. Although I have been fortunate not to have personally experienced road rash, I have experienced first hand the horror these burn-type injuries can cause if you are ever forced to slide across the roadway for any distance. I hope you find this information informative and if you would like additional information on this topic, or any other, I can always be reached at LeeGaber@cycleattorney.com or 1-888CYCLE-LAW (1-888-292-5352).

A drunk in a bar pukes all over his own shirt, which was brand new before he came in. “Damn,” he says. “I puked on my shirt again. If the wife finds out, she’s gonna kill me.” “Not to worry,” says the bartender as he sticks a $20 bill in the drunk’s pocket. “Just tell her someone puked on you and gave you some cash to cover the cleaning bill.” So the drunk goes home and tells his wife about the guy who puked on him. She reaches into his pocket and finds two twenties. “Why are there two twenties?” she asks. The drunk replies, “Oh, yeah, he crapped in my pants, too.” ☼☺☼☺☼☺☼☺☼☺☼☺☼ Bubba and Junior were standing at the base of a flagpole, looking up. A woman walked by and asked what they were doing. “We’re supposed to find the height of the flagpole,” said Bubba, “but we don’t have a ladder.” The woman took a wrench from her purse, loosened a few bolts, and laid the pole down. Then she took a tape measure from her pocket, took a measurement and announced, “Eighteen feet, six inches,” and walked away. Junior shook his head and laughed. “Ain’t that just like a dumb blonde! We ask for the height, and she gives us the length!” ☼☺☼☺☼☺☼☺☼☺☼☺☼ As a blonde crawls out of her wrecked car, the local sheriff asks her what happened. The blonde began, “It was the strangest thing! I looked up and saw a tree, so I swerved to the right. Then I saw another tree, so I swerved to left. Then there was another tree, and another and another ...” The sheriff thought for a minute and then said, “Mam ... I don’t know how to tell you this, but the only thing even resembling a tree on this road for thirty miles is your air freshener.” ☼☺☼☺☼☺☼☺☼☺☼☺☼ On reaching his plane seat a man is surprised to see a parrot strapped in next to him. He asks the stewardess for a coffee where upon the parrot squawks “And get me a whisky you cow!” The stewardess, flustered, brings back a whisky for the parrot and forgets the coffee. When this omission is pointed out to her the parrot drains its glass and bawls “And get me another whisky you idiot”. Quite upset, the girl comes back shaking with another whisky but still no coffee. Unaccustomed to such slackness the man tries the parrot’s approach “I’ve asked you twice for a coffee, go and get it now or I’ll kick you”. The next moment, both he and the parrot have been wrenched up and thrown out of the emergency exit by two burly stewards. Plunging downwards the parrot turns to him and says “For someone who can’t fly, you complain too much!” 9

DATING IN THE FAST LANE A View From The Curb By Terri Faust
I started riding in 2010 and since I’m not a big fan of riding in large groups, most of my time on two wheels is spent solo. In my travels I occasionally come across a fellow solo rider, or guys riding in twos. I’ve noted something curious - when I meet a guy riding by himself, he usually strikes up a conversation, compliments me on the bike and is amicable and friendly towards me. I’ve even been invited spur of the moment to ride with a guy who pulls up alongside me in traffic. However, when I come upon two guys riding together, they ignore me completely. I asked biker friends what they thought of this. What I was told by more than one person, is that the shunning most likely had to do with the fact that despite guys thinking biker chics are “hot” and they love seeing us on the road (preferably in front of them), they do not accept women as “true” bikers. It’s the philosophy equivalent of women in sports – “knock yourself out babe but you’ll never be part of our (boy’s) club.” I was shocked. It wasn’t meant to insult me, or dissuade me from my new love of riding; it was merely a statement of fact. Being a biker was not something I considered until 2009. I had no clue how to ride and had nearly killed myself years ago when I attempted to ride a dirt bike. I was raised around bikes, and bikers - my father is a Harley guy through and through. I’ve sat on the back of bikes for years, enjoying the ride (and lack of responsibility aside from “leaning into the turns” and following proper passenger etiquette). But I never gave much thought to having my own bike. Buying the Rebel was a spur of the moment thing and one that I will never regret. I learned the ropes on “Fo” (my nickname for the 450), and then spent the summer of 2010 riding “OJ” a 1200 Nightster, and this spring I upgraded from the Rebel to an Intruder 1400. I didn’t learn to ride in order to be part of the boy’s club; I did it because it challenges me in ways that I hadn’t been challenged before. It is, at once, one of the most thrilling and yet calming pastimes and I do it for ME. But my buddies’ comments stick in the back of my mind, and I ponder whether female bikers are admired to a degree, but more so snubbed by their male counterparts. Is there REALLY an exclusive boy’s club going on that we girls will never be accepted into? Then again, does it really matter if we’re doing what we truly love to do? The love of riding is what keeps me on two wheels, and whether I’m accepted or snubbed doesn’t deter me from heading out on a beautiful day and enjoying the wind in my face. But if I pull up alongside of you guys, it would sure be nice if you at least said “hi.” After all, we wave at each other in passing, so I KNOW you see me! Be safe and enjoy the ride everyone!

RIDE TO EAT . EAT TO RIDE THE UGLY MUTT RESTAURANT & BAR . OXFORD, PA By Jay Kuch, Mystery Food Critique
We’re into mid-season and that means plenty of great weather, shiny bikes, and the need for bikerfriendly venues to hang out, have a few drinks and feed the soul – and belly. My travels this month took me to the little town of Oxford, PA where I stumbled across The Ugly Mutt Restaurant and Bar. Although the front deck seemed like the perfect place to relax and throw back a few, I wandered inside to suck up some a/c (Hey! It was hot!). It turned out to be a great choice because I was greeted by a friendly bar staff and some inviting drink specials. It was a hot Friday afternoon and I took full advantage of the $2.75 Blue Moon specials. I know what you’re thinking - I usually drink Crown and Coke but, hey, you have to mix it up once in awhile. It’s kind of like eating PB&J every day for lunch or being married. (Sorry I went there. I guess I just haven’t found the woman who can put up with me but any single ladies interested in trying can contact me at jay@flbdelmarva.com.) Anyway, back to the food... The menu was appealing. It wasn’t a four-page book but this simple one-page menu was filled with some great options. As you should know by now, I started with, that’s right, wings. I was served a generous basket of plump, crispy wings with a bit of breading and hot sauce. I decided to skip the blue cheese; I’ll let the beer cool down the heat. They didn’t last very long which was convenient since the main course arrived just as I finished licking the hot sauce from my fingers. My main course selection was the chicken parmesan sandwich with a side of fries. The sandwich was huge! The chicken completely eclipsed the bun. I had to eat some fries to find the bottom bun so I could attempt to eat my sandwich. The chicken was juicy and the breading was crispy and tasted homemade. The sauce was on the sweet side - not what I’m used to but worked very well with the melted provolone cheese atop the chicken. I needed a break from eating about half way through the sandwich. I’m not sure if it was the beer, wings, fries or the half of a huge sandwich that made me full but I wrapped what was left “to go” and forced a final beer upon myself. I sat back to relax and allow my meal to digest. I noted the tile floors, multiple TVs, nice dining area towards the back and the comfortable, clean look of the restaurant and bar in general. This venue is a great little watering hole and also somewhere you can take the wife, girlfriend or whomever to enjoy good food, drink specials, and a comfortable environment. I would recommend The Ugly Mutt as a great place to stop while out riding. It is situated amid scenic back roads to further enhance your ride experience. If you have questions or comments, or if you know of a biker-friendly restaurant or pub you’d like to recommend, feel free to email me at Jay@flbdelmarva.com. Until next month remember: It’s just another day in paradise. The Ugly Mutt Restaurant and Bar is located at 562 Lincoln Street in Oxford, PA (www.theuglymuttbar.com). 13

A couple of weeks ago, an old friend of mine contacted me and asked me if I had parts available in flat black and, without hesitation, my inner salesman kicked in and I proceeded to give him the available product inventory. We chatted for a while and I quickly learned that he was upgrading a Harley for his nephew who was currently serving his third tour in Afghanistan after two successful tours in Iraq. When I say successful, I guess that means still alive and well. I told him I had to leave town and would get him some stuff at my cost before Sturgis and didnt give it much more thought because I was so self absorbed in preparing for all the activities I have scheduled in Sturgis. Things changed dramaticlly for these young men when on July 12th, Lance Cpl. Robert S. Greninger of Greenfield Minnesota was killed conducting combat operations in Afghanistan. Cpl. Greninger served along side my friend’s nephew SSgt. Chris Shranko and saved the lives of many of his fellow soldiers with his actions which is what cost him his life. When I was informed of this, I began to think about all the young men and women who pay the ultimate price for us to enjoy all the freedoms we take for granted in this country. The freedom to take a summer vacation, the freedom to fly on an airplane, the freedom to attend a motorcycle event and, I know its cliche’ but... Freedom is not free, it cost this young man who was just begining his life his future. You may not personally know anyone who is serving but everyone over there is someone’s son or daughter, mother or father... So the next time you see someone in uniform, remember the reason you were able to go to the movies last night was because they paid the ultimate price to keep us free. You may not agree with the politics or the administration that is in office, but these young men and women don’t have time to concern themselves with that as they are too busy sacrificing their lives so you can enjoy yours. Obviously I felt the need to do something more so I will be donating all the parts for the bike, as well as sending a care package of SCC swag to Afghanastan for the entire unit which seems so inconsequential when compared to the donations of the men and women who serve in every branch of the military. I am not going to do my usual shameless self promotion at the end of this month’s article, suffice to say it just doesn’t seem appropriate.
