ASK THE ATTORNEY
Regardless of what the Dr. tells you, it is imperative that although you may be receiving care for one body part, if you are experiencing pain in other areas, you explain this to whoever you are seeing. The failure to do so, is often seized upon by the insurance company’s attorneys and will be used against you if litigation commences.
By: Lee D. Gaber, Esquire
1-888-CYCLE-LAW . LeeGaber@cycleattorney.com
If you ever find yourself in need of medical care as a result of an accident, either through an E.R., a specialist, or family doctor, it is vitally important to advise the medical personnel of every body part that has been injured and is causing pain.
Receiving fair compensation has unfortunately become a battlefield and I urge each of you to understand that any statement you make, or fail to make, to a medical provider, can and will be used against you if it will help the other side minimize your recovery. While this may seem incredulous, after 21 years litigating personal injury cases, it has become more about winning and losing than fair compensation.
Depending on the individual, you may encounter resistance because they are the “arm”, “neck” or “back” Dr., however, regardless of the specialty, you must advise of each and every ailment you are having on that day. Why is this important? Unfortunately, if there are several visits to a Dr. to check on a specific body part, but you also experience pain in other areas, believe it or not, if these other complaints are not in the doctor’s notes, the adverse insurance company or attorney will argue that if those complaints are not in the medical records, then you must not have been experiencing pain in those other areas on those dates. As absurd as this sounds, this is a phenomenon that we are encountering on a daily basis, especially when a client has multiple injuries but the majority of their care involves a specific body part.
On another note, I just saw a T.V. commercial wherein an insurance company is suggesting that if you place some sort of computer drive into your car which monitors the way you drive, this may lower your premiums if you are a safe driver. While on its face this may seem like a good idea, please understand that insurance companies generally do not come out with new innovations such as this, unless they believe it is going to benefit their bottom line. There is always a flip side, what if in their opinion, you are an “unsafe” driver? Will they raise your premiums or potentially drop you? I don’t want anyone monitoring my driving every second of every day….. do you!
In some cases, the physician may legitimately treat only one specific body part, but a refusal to treat different body parts on one visit may be because they will only be reimbursed for that one visit. Although this may sound cynical, as I am writing this column, I am reading an article from CNNMoney.com titled “Doctors Going Broke”, which advises that although inconvenient, many Dr.’s will force clients to come back on different days so they can be reimbursed for treating various body parts. Sadly, this financial reality is now forcing some physicians to practice this way in order to keep their practices afloat.
I hope you find this information informative and if you would like additional information on this topic, or any other, I can always be reached at LeeGaber@cycleattorney.com or 1-888-CYCLE-LAW (1-888-292-5352).

Anthony Rodriguez (aka ‘Tattoo Tony’) 1. Who is “Tattoo Tony”? I am a tattoo artist, bodyguard, personal assistant and also good friends with Bret Michaels. 2. Where is home? I was born in Neptune, NJ and lived there most of my life. Even though I’ve traveled a lot over the years I consider NJ my home. 3. What do you like most about yourself? Being clean for 8 years and being a single father with full-time, sole custody of my son. 4. What would you change about yourself? Everyone wishes they could change something about themselves but I wouldn’t change a thing. My life has been a tremendous learning experience. I’ve overcome so much and I’m happy to be here as I am today. 5. What is your greatest extravagance? Life itself has been my greatest extravagance. I spent lots over the years but my most favored extravagance is my journey with my son. 6. If you could choose one area to live, where would that be? I love living in NJ. It’s my home and as much traveling as I’ve done over the years it’s still the place I call home. 7.
Who is your favorite fictional hero? I really don’t have a fictional hero!
8. Who is your real life hero? That would be my father. He has always been there for us kids even though he has been through so much. He truly is my hero. 9.
What is the best thing you own? A clean and sober life that I can spend with my son.
10. What question do you get asked the most? That question I’m asked most is about the tattoo on my face and if it hurt. The tattoo on my face is a rite of passage in my life. 11. If you could do anything else as an occupation, what would that be? I’m not sure I’d want to do anything else other than be a tattoo artist and working for my dear friend Bret Michaels. 12.
Is there anyone you would switch places with for a day if you could? Not that I can imagine. Everyone has life issues no matter who you are. 13. What do you want to do after you retire? I don’t see that happening any time soon but my dream would be to just tattoo and ride with my son. That’s all I could ever ask for. Look for Tattoo Tony’s work on Facebook at www.facebook.com/pages/ Under-My-Skin-Tattoo-Studio/201770662051.
Editor’s note: Thank you, Tony. I liked you before. I love you now! You owe me one for making me get all misty!! – Caroline

RIDE TO EAT . .EAT TO RIDE MURPH’S IRISH PUB WILMINGTON, DE By Jay Kuch, Mystery Food Critique
Well I survived the holidays and I hope you did too. There isn’t much riding to be done lately. The days are shorter and it seems like no matter what time I get out of work, it’s freezing and dark. Not that I wouldn’t ride in the cold; I just prefer not to ride when it’s cold AND dark. So without riding to be done, I turn most of my attention to other projects, projects that can be done in the warmth of my garage or home. In doing this, parts were needed. I searched the internet, found what I wanted and then it was time to head out to Claymont to pick up those aforementioned parts. A friend accompanied me and we decided to stop into a little place called Murph’s Irish Pub, a quaint, comfy hole in the wall that you’d pass by if weren’t looking for it. I walked in and gave the establishment the once over. There was a large bar, half dozen pool tables and a back room with a variety of pinball games to keep customers busy while tossing back a few cold ones. I took a seat at the bar and was greeted by a friendly bartender who offered me a menu. I spotted a sign offering $3 Twisted Teas. I broke from the norm and decided to make that my drink of choice for the evening.
for me, my friend provided a helping hand. By the time I finished the fries and another drink, my meatball parm arrived on a nicely toasted roll with sauce, melted cheese and more fries. The meatballs were cooked just right, the sauce had a slight spice to it and you can never go wrong with Provolone cheese. I barley finished the sandwich because of the mountain of fries I consumed just moments before but somehow I did manage to clean my plate.
I looked over the menu and there were plenty of offerings. I decided on the loaded fries to start and a meatball parm for dinner. My order arrived promptly and the fries overflowed from my plate. They were crispy, cooked to perfection and topped with cheese, bacon, and a side of ranch dressing. They would have been plenty for me as my meal but, lucky
Until next time, remember - It’s just another day in paradise!
Murph’s Irish Pub is a great stop when you want a good sandwich and a beer after a hard day of work or riding. There are plenty of food options including a jalapeno infused BBQ sauce atop their beef sandwich. I will have to make it back for that because it looked amazing and I was told the taste was as good as the presentation. Murph’s also seems like a good place to just hang out. I had a great time enjoying the food, booze and other amenities offered. So I’ll be back during a future parts run or maybe just because I just don’t feel like cooking.
Murph’s Irish Pub is located at 401 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, DE 19808. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, or if you would like to suggest a biker-friendly eatery, please email me at Jay@flbdelmarva.com.

While at the Progressive International Motorcycle Show in Washington, DC, we were introduced to what Lee Conn, President of Motus Motorcycles, believes will be the next generation of American motorcycles for die-hard riding enthusiasts. Motus’ goal is to design the ultimate street bike – fast, lightweight and comfortable. Motus promises to deliver an all new machine that combines legendary racing technology with the practical needs of serious sport riders. Both are exhilarating, charismatic machines powered by the mighty V4 Baby Block engine and both will be offered with various accessories and upgrade options. Final pricing, options, and full production specifications for the MST will be announced this spring. Motus motorcycles are sold exclusively through existing, high quality dealerships taking reservations now for midlate 2012 delivery. DATING IN THE FAST LANE
By Mike Ginocchi
While bartending at Harrah’s Cherokee, I noticed one of the cocktail servers coming into work in her street clothes. She was wearing a Harley shirt and I commented, “Nice shirt!” She asked if I had a Harley. “Yup, an Ultra,” I replied. A couple of days later she came to me and asked when I was taking her for a ride while handling me her telephone number on cocktail napkin. She then said “You better call me!” I was living in Western, NC in self-imposed Bimbo Rehab clearing my head after years of bad romances. I preferred just me and my Harley, dragon slaying on a regular basis. She didn’t outweigh me so I called and made a date for a ride. I picked her up at 10 a.m. and she came MC ready with her own gear. She had to go to work at 2:30 so it had to be a short ride for some lunch; no 318 curves in 11 miles on the first date. I didn’t want to scare her off too soon. After we finished lunch, the plan was to take her home in time for work. She asked what I would be doing the rest of the day. I told her that once I dropped her off, I was heading to the Dragon. “I’m calling in sick and going with you,” she said. As I laid over my Geezer Glide into the third of 318 curves, I dragged my floorboard all the way through the curve. She didn’t even flinch and I knew I had a keeper. A few months later she bought me a 2011 Ultra Limited and we went on a 10 day 2500 mile road trip together. She never complained once and we were married shortly after. Now that’s love in the FAST LANE! Tell us your biker dating stories!! Submit your dating adventure to submissions@flbdelmarva. com.

FAREWELL TO THE ROAD
When I started Strip Club Choppers in 2004 I did every rally I could no matter how far away, how big or small. This philosophy allowed me to attend rally’s all over North America. I attended the Wharf Rat Rally in Nova Scotia, Canada while watching the whales and meeting some of the friendliest people. I traveled to Mexican Bike Week in Mazatlan with some of the most beautiful women while being escorted by the federal police with AK-47’s. SECOND ANNUAL BLUE VALOR RUN WILL RIDE FROM GROUND ZERO TO NATIONAL POLICE MEMORIAL RIDE WILL HONOR LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY
NEW YORK – January 2012 - The P.O. Ken Tietjen Memorial Foundation, in cooperation with The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, proudly announces the second annual Blue Valor Run. This one day, 226-mile charity motorcycle ride will take place on Saturday, May 12, 2012, beginning from Ground Zero in New York City and ending at Police Week in Washington D.C.
the Foundation is run by volunteers, donations go directly to the children. Go to http://www.kentietjen.org to learn more. About the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund
Established in 1984, the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund is a private non-profit organization dedicated to honoring the service and sacrifice of America’s law enforcement officers and to promoting officer safety. The Memorial Fund maintains the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC, which contains the names of 18,983 officers who have died in the line of duty throughout U.S. history. The Memorial Fund is also working to create the National Law Enforcement Museum, which will tell the story of law enforcement through high-tech, interactive exhibitions, historical artifacts and extensive educational programming. For more information, visit http://www.LawMemorial.org/.
For this ride, law enforcement officers and civilian supporters from across the country will unite to honor officers who give their lives in the line of duty each year. The funds raised from this ride will go to support the P.O. Ken Tietjen Memorial Foundation and The Memorial Fund. “After last year’s tremendous success, we’re once again looking forward to uniting law enforcement officers and supporters from around the country to honor my brother Kenny and all officers who give their lives in the line of duty each year through the Blue Valor Run,” said Laurie Tietjen, President of the Kenneth Tietjen Memorial Foundation and sister of Port Authority Police Officer Kenny Tietjen. “We owe it to their families and to ourselves as a nation, to never forget what these brave men and women do to protect our safety everyday. I’m so inspired by the dedication of our volunteers and the response we’ve received from the law enforcement community.” Rider and volunteer applications are available at www. kentietjen.org or by calling (732) 887-0645. IN THE WEEDS CUSTOMS Builder, painter Wayne Nowicki served in the U.S. Navy as an operations specialist from 1972 until 1976 and then came home, seeking employment. He fibbed about his qualifications to get a job as a painter at Bendix, a company just outside Baltimore, where he squeezed the trigger for 7 hours a day for 30 years. He shot every kind of paint material imaginable and regularly consulted with paint industry reps on how their paints performed.

YOUNG RACING 185 by Dustin Young
Editor’s note: While attending the Progressive International Motorcycle Show in Washington, DC last month, I had the pleasure of meeting 23-yearold Dustin Young, 2012 AMA Rookie of the Year. He is genuine, gracious and humble. He’s also our pick for the one to watch in 2012. We hope you enjoy this newest addition to the Fast Lane Biker Delmarva series. Interested sponsors can reach Dustin at DustinYoung185@gmail.com. Motorcycles have always been my passion. I grew up in Richmond, Virginia in a loving family but my parents weren’t able to provide a vehicle for me. I fulfilled my passion from afar, looking at motorcycles as they passed on the road, reading magazines and dreaming about riding. At age 19, my father bought a used ATV to use for chores around the house. Within two weeks, I was on it every spare minute and rushing school work just so I could ride. I road it so much that I learned slow speed wheelies and great throttle control within the first month. My interest in the motorsports and high performance machines grew. I remember watching my first Live round in 2007 when Mat Maladin and Ben Spies where still running AMA. Leaving the track I knew a bike was in my future and I wanted it now! That year I went straight to the dealership and purchased a new 07’ GSX-R 750. I left the dealer and rode that bike over 100 miles and started to train myself. Within months I was learning wheelies and other technical stunt maneuvers one could accomplish as a stunt rider. I stayed in the stunting world for a while but in the back of my head I knew I had to get on the track. A brief encounter with the local law enforcement expedited that need and gave me the ingredients of op-
portunity. I did my first track day with Team Pro-Motion Sport Bike Club at Summit Point Motorsports Park in West Virginia. Team “Pro-Mo” is a track day organization based out of Pennsylvania providing great instructors and advanced training seminars. After riding with them for a full season my skills improved tremendously and soon I found myself in the instructor seat passing on the knowledge that had been given to me and learning the reward of giving back to others. It was “gentle” provoking from friends within the organization that made me decide to try my hand at racing. I started my practice in Team Pro-Mo’s mock races to obtain my license for competition. I ran my first races on the Homestead Miami circuit in December of 2010 and did okay with some top ten finishes. This season I jumped in, fully committing myself to every race I could afford until season end. It’s been a tough road this season filled with lots of Podiums, a few rouge crashes and mechanical failures as well. It’s my belief that hard things are put in our way, not to stop us, but to test our strength. My goals are to finish this season winning as many championships in as many regions possible. Next year I have big hopes of finishing well in the expert classes and also starting my first races in the AMA circuit. Dreams can be made reality. It’s always go hard or go home. If you’re good be better.

THE PROGRESSIVE INTERNATIONAL MOTORCYCLE SHOW Story by Alicia “BBA” Helfrich . Photography by Alicia Helfrich and Mike Musgrove
Washington, DC – The weather may have been cold in the historic town of Washington, DC but the Progressive International Motorcycle Show at the DC Convention Center was everything “hot” to see and learn in the motorcycle industry. Experts from leading manufacturers wowed attendees with incite and facts concerning new products, existing products upgrades and more. This family-oriented event attracted even the youngest of future riders who didn’t seem to mind being perched on hot bikes and photographed for prosperity. Of course the well-seasoned riders were in attendance and even several “newbies.” Although male riders were out in force, we are happy to report an almost equal number of women participated in the many demonstrations and seminars that were offered including: How To Buy Your First Motorcycle, Advanced Riding Techniques, What Gear To Wear and Maintaining Your Ride. A full schedule of events was published in Fast Lane Biker® Magazine Delmarva and an astounding 6,500 copies (above normal distribution) were distributed throughout the weekend. Entertainment was found in many forms and included the crowd pleasing Smage Brothers stunt show. Special recognition goes out to “Smalls” who wore our new Crabby Biker mascot costume during one of the shows (check out the video on www.flbdelmarva.com)! A free photo op of riders and “Flo” traveling from Mt. Rushmore to San Francisco was available courtesy of Progressive Insurance. Young and old were seen designing their own motorcycle with a digital spray can at the Kawasaki Design-ABike location. The hottest new bikes and custom builds filled the convention center and beckoned to attendees to straddle them. The Marketplace provided an abundance of current aftermarket accessories and parts. The bike competition was fierce and we are very happy to announce that Severn’s own C&C Cycle, award-winning custom bike builder and Maryland’s oldest and largest aftermarket shop for over 27 years, took first place for Modified Harley. Additionally, our February featured bike, Davona Marshall’s “Egyptian Queen,” took third place in Performance Custom Class.

CARBURETORS 101 Last month we looked at finding a good tuner and some common types of fuel injection tuning devices. This month I’d like to touch on some carburetor notes. I find it kind of unique that carbs have been officially removed from the curriculum in all automotive institutes but yet they are still a major part of all power sports institutes. This more likely has to do with the fact that carburetors on cars have been gone since the 80s but, although declining fast, they are still used on close to 50% of all power sports products. Carburetor tuning is very misunderstood and an operation that is done wrong more times than not. Any shop that tells you they have jetted your bike correctly is only guessing if they are not equipped with a dynamometer. While they may be very talented and able to guess closely, they are still only guessing - whether they want to admit it or not. I have set many bikes on the dyno that have had performance work done at shops that did not have a dynamometer or did not use it if they did “’cause they know what jet you need.” Some shops were aftermarket, some were dealers, but I have NEVER, EVER, found a motorcycle set up by a shop without a dynamometer that we could not make some kind of performance improvements on. I am not saying that a shop without a dyno cannot jet your carb, what I am saying is they can’t do it correctly. When I dyno tune a bike with a carb it unusual gets 15-30 dyno pulls on it just to get the jetting right. To get even close to the same results without a dynamometer, you would have to put at least 80-90 miles on the bike, one or two miles at a time, on the road with at least half of them being run at over 100MPH. A dynamometer does not lie and it is, without question, the most accurate way to set up carb jetting. If your local shop does not have a dynamometer, it may be worth your while to make the trip to one that does. Otherwise, you will be relying on the old trial and error method. You may find information on the web (so it must be true!) telling you what jet size to use on a certain bike. It may seem to work but don’t believe it. Every bike or engine can be different. The only way to be certain is to buy a handful of jets and try them. Even if your bike seems to run ok with the jet size recommended by someone with the same bike, you still want to install one size richer and one size leaner and see if it makes any difference. Ideally, you want to find the smallest main jet that gives you the highest top speed, and then richen it up one size. Rich jetting won’t burn a hole in a piston. Your bike should never foul the correct spark plug. If your bike fouls plugs, then SOMETHING IS
WRONG! Most likely the pilot jet is too big or the needle is set too rich. Also make sure everything else is right before you begin. It is impossible to correctly jet an engine that is out of time, valves out of adjustment, burns excessive oil, etc. What may seem like nothing to someone who doesn’t do it every day can greatly affect the bike’s performance. For example, if the battery in your bike is not up to par, all of your jetting is a complete waste of time. I cannot stress enough that EVERYTHING else must be right BEFORE you make any attempt to jet your bike Also keep in mind that ANY time you change the air filter or exhaust pipes, you may have to re-jet the carb.
