Furniture detailing includes the bookshelves , the niche wall, metal mesh mashrabiya screen and shoe shelved area.
Local, biodegradable and repurposed materials were all taken into consideration. The goal was to keep the invasion to a minimum so the existing structure was maintained. RETAIL POP-UP
This project emphasizes on a sustainable approach at designing a pop-up retail stores that focuses on multifunctional modular units. It focuses multifunctionality, flexibility, and the use of eco-friendly materials. I have chosen Alserkal Avenue as my site for the project because it corresponds with sustainability objectives.
The design solutions use modular furniture and flexibility to transform retail stores into art galleries and workshop spaces while reducing interior invasion using zoning, mind maps, functions, design concepts, 3D renders.
The objective was to create a concept retail store that featured unique and limited clothing and target environmentally conscious customers who wanted to buy sustainable apparel in a green setting.
To complement the industrial mood, create a style with salvaged or repurposed furniture and accessories. My strategy was to prioritize quality over quantity. To keep the display to a bare minimum while improving the space’s experiential quality by incorporating social spaces, a café bar, and workspaces/ seating for social interaction.
FEATURE WALL DESIGN
This is a multifunctional feature wall. It is a wall storage space saving solution. It consists of shelves, green features(terrarium), mirrors and stoage shelves that hold the stools. This feature wall helps to blend some earthly tones to the industrial feel of the warehouse. It is a freestanding wall with foliage wallpaper.
STOOL DESIGN
These stools are placed on the feature as a space optimizing solution. Two stools are placed back to back in sync optimizing space .When the stools are removed it , it acts as a shelf. It is placed on upcycled metal barrel, which is light weight and sturdy and helps reduce the overall load.
RETRACTABLE CHANGING ROOMS
This is a foldable structure that may be used as a retail changing room and can also be used as a show closet or storage. This storage is ideal for storing equipment like painting easels in workshop spaces, and it can also serve as a partition wall in an art gallery setting. Another space-saving option that works nicely with the three options.
PEG-WALL DESIGN
Key emphasis was for wall display that works well to hang clothing and paintings. The challenge was to incorporate a function for workshop. Pegboard is a very versatile design element and works well for all three settings. Using wooden pegs to create shelves and displays that could be moved around very flexibly.
The material used is FSC certified wood peg board panels with a standard size of 600mmx1200mm fixed to the wall
FREESTANDING DISPLAY
The essential functions were seating and display. A rotating louver system with a wooden hinge was created. It might also be used to display apparel and more.
It had a sturdy, substantial base that also served as storage for stools.A hydraulic hinge was explored to retrieve the table inside when needed.
