Artist Bio: My love for art transcends the process of creation, and extends as far back as the first documented renderings of pre-historic humans who left their marks in countless caves without any notion that those marks would one day become the birth of the artistic legacy. I am as passionate about art history as I am about the act of making my own marks, because I believe all artists are a part of a collective linked through time to create one monumental work. I attended Parsons School of design in New York, The Art Institute of Boston, and FIU in Miami, but I strive to learn new things relating to my craft every day, because I am keenly aware that the possibilities are endless. I worked at Hill Holiday and Associates in Boston as an in-house storyboard and comp illustrator; as well as freelanced for several large companies. For some time I have dedicated myself to experimenting with fine arts in traditional and digital media, but am eager to once again share my knowledge through teaching art, as well as enrich my learning by interacting with art students. My art is my contribution to the collective. I was born in Cuba, moved to Miami in 1961, and have lived in New York, Vermont, and Massachusetts. I now reside in Miami, Florida where I work alongside my artist wife Ileana at Collazo Art Studio. I have extensive knowledge in collage, drawing, color mixing, and creating digital art with Procreate on the IPad Pro; as well as a strong knowledge base in painting and art history. Sharing knowledge and learning are two of my passions. I also wholeheartedly believe in a personalized teaching approach that allows plenty of leeway for unique self-expression.
