About the Fair and Venue:
During Tokyo Art Week 2023, the Tokyo Tower Art Fair – the largest fair in Japan and the oldest fair in Asia, will present its first Tokyo edition, showcasing works by leading national and international emerging independent artists and galleries presenting digital art, installations, live performances, paintings, photography, and sculptures.
The fair will be located at the observation deck of the Iconic Tokyo Tower, a communication and observation tower in the Minato, Tokyo, Japan district. The tower, built in 1958, stands at 339.2 meters and is the second tallest structure in Japan.
About the Artist:
During the 8 years Rajul called Japan home, she was transfixed by the beauty of the Japanese art of Kintsugi, which uses gold splicing to mend broken pottery. A physical manifestation of resilience, Kintsugi is the art of embracing flaws and repairing imperfections. A soulful artist, Shah translated this concept into 2D representations depicting the body's chakras (our energy centers) and our planet. Her work has been showcased in Canada, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Singapore, Spain, and the United States; and featured in multiple publications. She took art courses at the Tokyo Tyler Temple School of Art and the Singapore LaSalle College, and Nihonga and oil painting instruction for 8 years in Tokyo from two renowned Masters. Her art affiliations include Artling, New York-based The Healing Power of Art, New York-based Manhattan Arts International, UK-based Circle Foundation for the Arts, and United States-based Purple Octopus Art.
