The majority of the food that we eat today contains toxic substances, IE. preservatives or pesticides (fruit and vegetables). The body's response to these toxic substances is to either first, flush them out, or second, lock them away and store them as fat. If you don’t drink enough water, then your body cannot flush out the toxicity remaining in the body from the food we eat. If the body cant protect itself from the toxins by getting rid of them, then the next best thing it will do is to sort of quarantine them from the rest of the system and lock them away inside the body as... Constant Stress without a physical release of that stress will make you fat. Here's how... Cortisol. Cortisol is a hormone that is released by our bodies whenever we encounter a stressful situation. Our body is programmed to prepare us for a physical response to an outside stressor, difference is that back in the day, that physical response was hunting, lifting up something, or fighting, or running for your life. Today that stress is more like a horrible boss, an abundance of financial responsibilities, being a caregiver to a sick or disabled family member, a midterm cram session, etc... Things that are for the most part of a much more mental and emotional nature, and therefore not as easily accompanied by a physical exertion or release. But the body doesn’t know the difference, it just releases the cortisol into our system. Only problem with that is, cortisol breaks down muscle tissue for use as a quick energy supply, for immediate use. The moral of the story is, if you are under constant stress, you need to find a way to exercise, no matter how light, just find a way to break a sweat doing exercise. If your body is constantly breaking down your muscle tissue, not only will you lose muscle over the long run, you will store more fat, because you're

When you skip meals for long spaces of time, your body begins to adapt. It starts to shift your metabolism into a slower state to account for the hours and hours on end with no new fuel coming into the body.
