Hope Theater presents ‘Beauty and the Beast’

Building on the success of last spring’s production of Godspell, Hope Theater will present nine performances of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast,” starting this Friday, June 2.

For nearly 300 years, the tale of “Beauty and the Beast” captured the imaginations of people around the world. In 1991, Disney produced its own take on this “tale as old as time” in its 30th animated feature. In 1994, they brought the story to Broadway where it enjoyed a 13-year run.

“Hope Theater is excited to share Disney’s ‘Beauty and the Beast’ with all the favorite songs and characters the world has come to love, incorporating unique and creative imagery that draws from the rich romance and dark environment of the original tale,” said producer Hilary Pierce. “We stage this remarkable fable for the whole family, with a fresh vision you’ve likely not seen before.”

The cast is full of talented performers from all over Northern Virginia, including Rebekah Raze as Belle; Billy Valentine as Beast; Spencer Pilcher as Gaston; Josh Carias as Lefou; Rich Pinson as Maurice; Katy Benko-Miner as Mrs. Potts; Bill Barnes as Lumiere; Andrew Harasty as Cogsworth; and an ensemble of performers that bring this show to life.
