Of all the amazing legacies in the bible, my personal favorite is the parable of the prodigal son’s father. (Luke 15:11-32) For sake of space, I will paraphrase. A certain man had two sons. One son decided he knew more than his father so he (the son) wanted his inheritance. His father divided to his two sons, his livelihood. As expected, the son wasted all his possessions on…let’s just say...prodigal living. Life got real when things got bad and he found himself eating with pigs. All the sudden, in the stench and lack, the son came to himself. He decided to go home to dad, ask forgiveness, and ask his father if he could be a servant. But his father, having the heart of a father, saw his son while he was still a great way off. His father had compassion, ran and fell on his son’s neck and kissed him. (Luke 15:20) And gave his son, his best! (Luke 15:22-24) I am very blessed. I have many earthly heroes: My earthly daddy, my husband, my spiritual daddy, and several spiritual fathers. God has truly blessed me with the best of His very best! My greatest hero of all, is my Heavenly Father! Thank You Father for having compassion on me when I came to myself! Seeing me while I was still a great way off! Having compassion on me! Running to me, falling on my neck, kissing me, and giving me Your best! I was dead and lost, but because of Your precious Son, I am alive and I am found! Thank You for calling me out of darkness and into Your marvelous light! You are my number one hero!

My mother suddenly suffered a seizure and collapsed on October 7. By the time I flew home, we learned that she had a large brain tumor. Because of what I'd learned in the class, I'd already been praying more aggressively, rebuking death and illness. It was clear to me that I had to use what I had learned to push back against the enemy's attack.

Once in the hospital all my tears somehow dried up. I kissed my mother, laid hands on her and prayed. I then went about comforting my father who was understandably beside himself. At one point he looked at me and quietly said "We're going to go down fighting," LIMIT ONE FREE COURSE PER STUDENT to which I replied, "That's fine, Dad, but you know what? We're not going down." By: Dr. Bill Hanshew Hebrews 11:8 says, “By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.” When it comes to heroes, the greatest will always be Jesus, who loved us and gave His life for us (Ephesians 5:2). But other than Jesus, what is a hero of faith? I believe the description would be something like this: Ordinary men and women, who because of their faith in God, do extraordinary things. So, who comes to mind when you think of a Hero of Faith. While we are inspired by the stories of these patriarchs listed in Hebrews 11, I want to share with you about one particular man who has always influenced and inspired me. This verse about him simply starts like this; “By faith Abraham obeyed…” Have you ever wondered about the possibility of God telling you to do something completely impossible in your own understanding, yet you had already decided that no matter what God asked of you, you were determined to obey? The simple truth is, Abraham obeyed God. It is important to understand the magnitude of what God asked of

Abraham, who at that time was named Abram. In Genesis 12:1 God says to Abram, “Get out of your country, from your family And from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you.” Even with God telling Abram to leave his country, his family and from living at home in his father’s house, I think the hardest part was when God says, “To a land that I will show you.”

Dr. Bill Hanshew

Just because you have a Bible doesn’t mean it will say, go to this street, turn left, then right, then another left and stop at house number 123. Every time we are following or obeying a word from God, faith will be required.

inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.” Abram had no idea where, how, or even when he would arrive at the place of God’s promised word manifesting. And it really does not matter if it is a land, such as for Abraham, in being the land God promised, or if it is the promised written word of God’s healing power manifesting in your body.

Hebrews 11:8 says, “By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an

Yet we know that Hebrews 11 continues with a synopsis of the story in V.9-10 saying, “9By faith he dwelt in the land of promise

Not everything God tells us to do will always come with a detailed set of instructions.

as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; 10for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.” Many interpret this as heaven; some say it means the promised land God gave to Israel. But whatever your view is, know this: When God makes a promise; He is faithful to see it come to pass in your life. All He asks is that you follow Him by faith. Hebrews 10:23 says, “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.” In other words, when we embrace God’s promises, we must also commit to keeping our conversation in line with that promise. All Abraham knew is that God said go, and when you get there, I’ll tell you to stop. God changed Abram’s talk by changing his name. God had already promised to make Abram’s name great. He went from the name Abram, meaning “exalted father,” who at this time had no children, to

Abraham, which means, “father of many.” So Abraham had to start thinking of himself beyond his ordinary mindset to do extraordinary things for God. Wow, can you imagine what must have gone through Abram’s mind, and how the enemy must have attacked his thoughts, trying to bring confusion about the accuracy of what God said to Abram in the first place? Yet in this story, Abram moved forward, even making many mistakes along the way. But he continued toward the end result of what God had told him. I think what has impressed me for years now is how Abraham simply believed God. Abraham took God at His Word and put faith in it. For me, this is why Abraham is one of my Heroes of Faith, because “By faith Abraham obeyed… And he went out, not knowing where he was going,” but simply believing that God would get him there. As Hebrews chapter 11 continues, V.13 says, “These all

died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.” Some of them did not even see the end result with their earthly eyes, yet they still believed God. One who can stay in faith about the promises of God, no matter what comes or goes, makes them a Hero of Faith in my book. If God gives you an assignment that even sounds absurd to your family and friends, and even if they try to talk you out of it, beware of whose voice you listen to, their voice or God’s voice. Just because you are an ordinary individual, does not mean that God could not call you to do something extraordinary for Him. You could be the next Billy Graham, Oral Roberts or the next individual to win thousands to Jesus Christ. Are you ready to obey? … Think about it!

By: Dr. Alice Bennett Regally appearing in a stiff white starched dress with her glowingly white hair Sister Alice Smith was a striking presence. She always wore a crisp white dress symbolizing the holiness that Jesus gives freely to all believers. She was known throughout our city Phoenix, Arizona as a great prayer warrior with a prophetic voice. She was frequently honored when she entered various churches in the city as they knew her as a great spokeswoman for God, and everyone desired a prophecy from her. She had a humble home in downtown Phoenix, with a huge sign above her house that read, "House of Prayer." I was moved by her boldness to post such a large statement sign above her door that prayer goes on in this house. She held prayer meetings in the house and ministered the word of God with many signs following. Many people called her and depended on her for prayer and miracles. The church I attended was pastored by an excellent man of God, Pastor Don Price. He held Sister Smith in great esteem and never objected to people praying at her "House of Prayer". It was in her

Dr. Alice Bennett home I preached my first message and had my first exposure to the holy laughter. Sister Smith shared with me some intimate details of her life as I came to take care of her near the close of her life. She had broken her hip so I was close by her side, allowing me to have that time to lovingly question her about many aspects of her life. I enjoyed listening to her stories. Her love life was deeply private to her, but during this multi-week stay she shared how she had met her husband. Her family picked fruit in the nearby fields at a time of economic depression. Her future husband had come looking for any available work. He was

willing to work in the fields, just a traveling field-hand looking for room and board. She had never had a beau, as she was very young. She was washing her red hair as she came out of the single bathroom that was shared by all, with a towel wrapped around her wet head. As she came around the corner, he caught her in his arms and brushed the single curl from her forehead. She looked up at him and fell madly in love, and I think he felt the same. This began a whirlwind romance. She giggled like a young schoolgirl recounting the story from over sixty years past of her great and only love. One night late, as I slept on the floor beside her

bed, she relayed to me one of her most painful life memories. After a wonderful experience with God, she had the joy of being filled with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. When she told her husband she now spoke in tongues he thought that she had had a mental breakdown and forced her into the mental ward. In the state mental hospital she cried out desperately to God as she was broken hearted and afraid. One night the Lord gave her a spiritual dream. In the dream Jesus appeared to her. Jesus was lovingly holding a little lamb in his arms and there were twelve little lambs surrounding Him at his feet. She did not understand what the dream meant, but the dream encouraged her to hold on and to trust Him. The days were lonely and hard. There was an old piano on the floor of the ward, and since she could play piano and sing, they requested for her to lead in song to cheer up all the patients. She was very

shy, but she sang to Jesus for them. She just loved Him so much so she sang out her love for Him. The music ministered deeply to the doctors and the nurses often moving them to cry and to repent. Sister Smith would pray for them and explain to them about Jesus and the Holy Spirit. One of the nurses was the first to accept Christ. Then one by one the other nurses and doctors got born again and filled with the Holy Spirit. Eventually, every nurse and doctor was saved, all twelve of them! She now understood the meaning of the dream. She had to go into that place to bring the gospel to these twelve nurses and doctors. She talked with The Lord about the dream, and He explained to her that she was the additional lamb in his arms, and that she should continue to preach and worship. They soon released Sister Smith as sane and well. The doctors said she was the sanest person they knew. She went on to evangelize in Jamaica and in Arizona, spreading

the good news of Jesus and the power of His Holy Spirit. For decades she prophesied, preached and prayed wherever the Lord opened the door. Even in the last days of her life, she made herself available to pray for all those who called her. There were many who still came to her door pleading for help. I remember one woman, who had been involved in witchcraft coming to the front door of the "House of Prayer" begging for relief. Her lipstick was smeared all over her face and she looked very frightening. Sister Smith was lying on her sick bed, unable to walk from her broken hip, but she said, "Bring her to me." At that point, she rose up from her sick bed loudly praying in tongues. She laid hands on her, and the pitiful woman was delivered from witchcraft that day. I learned a great deal about true power from Sister Smith. She taught on operating in authority and she demonstrated real authority. Sister Alice Smith an unknown but great hero of the faith!

By: Kim Miller The Bible talks about "Heroes of Faith." Did you know that you can be a Hero of Faith too? A Hero of Faith is not just those we read about in God's Word. 1 Peter 2:9 says, "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light." We are His precious people, called to give Him glory and honor. One of the ways we do this is by walking in Faith. When we walk in Faith, we see His Word fulfilled in our lives. Our lives will testify of His goodness and faithfulness. The word Hero means a person of distinguished courage or ability; someone regarded as a model for others. Joseph is one of my favorite people written about in the Bible. He truly was a young man of courage and a good model for us to follow in our walk of Faith. He had a dream given to Him by God. It took years to be fulfilled, and his experiences seemed to be opposite of his dream. He was also let down by people. We all have experienced "let down" at one time, or another. Joseph maintained a good attitude, did what was right, forgave those who mistreated him, and didn't give up. Doing things God's way and taking Him at His word certainly paid off, but then it always does!

Genesis 37:9 talks about Joseph's dream to be a ruler. He was just a teenager, seventeen years old and tending to his father's sheep. With Joseph sold into slavery, (Genesis 39:1) it made it look pretty impossible, right? It may look impossible, but we must see the fulfillment of our Godgiven dreams through the eyes of our powerful God! Mark 10:27 But Jesus looked at them and said, "With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible." Joseph refused to give into his flesh and have sexual relations with Potiphar's wife. Verse 9 of Genesis 39 tells us of Joseph's respect for God. Nobody might have found out if he was with Potiphar's wife, but God would have known about it. Joseph was falsely accused and thrown into prison. If we are going to be a Hero of Faith, we must have reverence for God. We won't be able to have total victory in our lives until we get serious in our commitment to Him. Genesis 39:3 says, "And his master saw that the Lord was with Joseph and that the Lord made all he did to prosper in his hand." Deuteronomy 28 says that the

Kim Miller blessing of the Lord always comes when we are obedient. He wants us to live in the blessing, but we must do our part. God will continue to take care of us as we stand in Faith with patience when the devil uses others to come against us. It took years before Joseph's dream was fulfilled. He was 30 years old when it came to pass! As modern day Heroes of Faith, we cannot allow time to affect our Faith in a negative way. The Bible says that through Faith and patience we inherit God's promises. If Joseph would have

given up on his dream, he would not have only missed out on what God had for His life, but others would have missed out on God's provision, too. Joseph became a ruler and provided food during the famine. He was used by God to help those who mistreated him! He didn't allow himself to have bitterness against his brothers. Our God-given dreams are not only for us, but are given to us to be used to touch the lives of others too! Let us not be selfish with our destiny! We have to decide that we will not let go of our dreams

no matter how difficult things get, or how long they take to manifest; because there are many lives waiting to be touched! Genesis 40:23 tells us that the chief butler even forgot about Joseph. A Hero of Faith continues to stand and doesn't allow people to affect his destiny. His trust is in God, not in man. Our trust should not be in the arm of flesh. Man is limited in what he can do for

us, but God can do so much more! Ephesians 3:20 says, "Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us." Brothers and sisters continue to stand in Faith, have patience, and stick with His Word! You will be a Hero of Faith, and your lives will bring Him glory, testify of His goodness, and touch those around you!

By: Pastor Richard Hanshew As I sit at my computer and contemplate my choices for whom to write about I'm challenged with many possibilities. You see, I come from a family of ministers, evangelists, gospel singers and pastors. I could easily look to the Bible, but we all do that. I could easily have looked to forefathers of the Pentecostal movement. But after much consideration honestly my choice is clear. You see, my grandmother, Mary Dorene Smith and my father Rev. Fred L. Hanshew are the reasons my wife and I are in ministry and I am who I am today. Mary D. Smith was born in Oklahoma and her family migrated out to California where she met my grandfather Lowell H. Smith. Her mother was a faithful church goer who raised her children to know God. Her example of prayer was passed on to her children. My grandmother was a prayer warrior and intercessor after her mother. My grandmother loved people and you would find her at the alters before church crying out to God on behalf of many, many people. Romans 8:26 speaks of the Holy Spirit pleading on our behalf with GROANINGS. Many times I would come into the church and see Grandma at the alter travailing in spiritual warfare. Likewise I would enter her home and hear her locked in her bedroom travailing and crying out to God on behalf of her family, church, ministry, church organization, leadership and her community. Grandma was a lover. She was constantly sharing with them the love of God. It was funny, she was able to be so emboldened to tell friends of her children and grandchildren that they needed to stop different things and give their hearts to God. They needed Jesus. I watched her many years, this grandmother who I knew from being the oldest grandchild as the one who spoiled me. She loved her family. Grandma was a fundraiser. Her and my grandfather went into full-time ministry when I was about 5 or 6 years old. God would give Grandpa Smith a vision for development and Grandma would stir the women and raise the money for the projects. I never saw anyone raise money like she did. She had people calling her from far and wide asking what fund raiser she was

Pastor Richard Hanshew

Pastor Richard Hanshew doing because they wanted to buy from her. She would sell homemade quits, those quilted by hand! She would make cakes, peanut brittle, and other crafts. She didn't know that any amount was impossible. She pushed until the amount was met and project completed. But for me, my grandmother was my greatest fan. She believed in me. No matter what I've faced in my life my grandmother always believed in me. Taught me to love God and trust in Jesus and all He had done for me. She showed me how to love people who seemed unloveable. She showed me the love of Christ. Till this day I wish she could see what she has impacted in my life. I had gone through devastating divorces and practically gave up hope yet she still believed. About 5 years before she went to be with Jesus my Grandmother told me that God wasn't

confused when he called me to be a preacher. I just needed to stop looking at my failures and trust in God. She would remind me that the "Gifts and callings were irrevocable." She told prophetically before she passed that one day I would pastor a church that due to my past was impossible. I was blessed her last 18-24 months to help take care of her. She had her right mind all the way to the end. When she seemed overwhelmed she would have whoever was around to call me. They would say, "Richie, grandma needs you to come pray with her." With great pride and humbleness, a desire to repay knowing it could never really match what she had given, I would go and pray with her. I would post scriptures around her house for her to read for strength in knowing who she was. I would come and we would sit and pray and within a short time she was at peace and I would leave. God blessed me to be able to love on her, repaying just a small portion of the Love of God that she'd shown me my whole life.

Yesterday I was called and yet again grandma's prophetic voice called out even in death. I was offered and accepted the Pastorate of a church that according to man should never be mine. Once again, sitting in my home weeping as I was overwhelmed by God's love for me, I was reminded of her words. I would pastor. God would fulfill what he had said. He was ever faithful. My heart leaps at the opportunity to give away a portion of the love she shown me. My prayer is that God would help me to love like she did. That when I died, like her, my home going service would be attended by so many people the building couldn't contain them all. See, all those who were ruffians and rejects, misfits and sinners found love from the heart of my grandmother. I've learned many things from the authors of the Bible. God is surely great. But I thank Him that he loved me so much he gave me a legacy of AMAZING servants of God, but namely Mary D. Smith. See, it was through her I learned what it was to pray, intercede, travail, work and Love. My grandmother is my Hero of the Faith, a great example and guide on the True Love of Christ!

HEROES OF FAITH ARE GREAT EXAMPLES OF THE TRUE LOVE OF CHRIST!

By: Pastor Jimmie Lewis Webster's defines Heroes as a man of great strength and courage, any man admired for his courage, nobility, or exploits, any person regarded as an ideal or model or a person or central figure that played an admirable role in any important event or period. When I read this from Webster's, scriptures started coming to me. Hebrews 11 has a whole host of these kinds of men and women as well. It's hard to pick out just one of them, as all of them are Heroes. Maybe we can find our hero in one of them or in all of them. When the writer runs out of words to describe them, then what shall I say further? For time would fail me to tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel or the prophets. All of these are very important for sure. And here is a list of some of the things they did. Who by the help of faith subdued kingdoms, administered justice, obtained promised blessings, closed the mouths of lions, extinguished the power of raging fire, escaped the devouring’s of the sword, out of frailly and weakness won strength and became stalwart, even mighty and resistless in battle, routing alien hosts. Some women received again their dead by a resurrection. Others were tortured

Pastor Jimmie and Sarah Lewis to death with clubs, refusing to accept release offered on the terms of denying their faith, so that they might be resurrected to a better life. The list goes on. And ALL of these, though they won divine approval by means of their faith, did not receive the fulfillment of what was promised. Because God had US in mind and had something better and greater in view for us, so that they (these heroes and heroines of faith should not come to perfection apart from us. When we look at these, it's hard for us to believe there are any of these kinds of people today. But we must understand we are in a better day than they were. We have because of what Jesus did at the Cross, a better Covenant, better blood,

better nature, better life, better Promises, standing in finishers’ faith. We do not just want to live a life after them, as great as they were. The Bible says in Hebrews 12:2, “Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection]. He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set before Him, endured the Cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” After I read and looked, our men and women in the earth today are just as powerful or even more so. They are people of nobility,

people of great faith, who model kingdom living. They are a people of a high calling. And we have been like Enoch taken by God, or translated, without dying. As Elijah was, 2 Kings 2:9. He, Enoch did not see death; he refused to look at death, and did so by faith. 9Genesis 5:24 & Hebrews 11:5) New Testament, Colossians 1:12-13 and Colossians 3:10. In closing, please remember the word “Hebrews” means a crossing over. They were moving from an Old Testament into a New Testament, which was totally different from the Old, because everything was New! Even after I looked at Enoch, as great as he was, Jesus is greater in every way! Yes, "Jesus is my Hero!”

I Had Two Choices By: Jonas Sikes Looking around and hoping to figure out how I was going to get thru this horrible storm, I knew I only had two options from which to choose. I would either continue to trust in myself and go down the path of destruction in complete darkness; or, fall to my knees broken hearted and teary eyed. I could fall to my knees and lookup to God. I lacked confidence, I had no hope, I was scared and confused! If this is what they call rock bottom, then my goodness, I was there! Looking back on that day, I can see so much deception and hatred from the devil. I saw how he operated, so clever and convincing! See, my problem was this: I was in love with the world and all the things of this world. Exactly what John warns us not to become, John in the Bible that is! I was full of pride. I was a selfseeker. My life was all about me. Well, It all came crashing down on me one night! The lies of the devil came out and attacked me viciously, aggressively, and very concise! It was well orchestrated, well planned out, and if things went the devils way, well I’m not sure if I would even be alive today! Like I said, I had two options, I had two choices, and I had many tears, many fears, and no direction! Choice number one was not looking good at all. Like I said, I lacked confidence and this is all the devil needs to get us where he wants us. I also lacked hope, and this is also exactly what he needs to get us where he wants us! "Where does he want us,” you ask? If he can get us to doubt God and doubt ourselves, then he can have his way with us! If he can

get us to hate God and blame God, then he can have his way with us. If he can get us to hate others, and become impatient and unkind, he can have his way with us! Temptation comes in many forms, and many fall in different ways. Each person has at least one weakness, and the devil knows Jonas Sikes and his daughter, it. He seeks it, Carolina Bleu Sikes and if he finds it, he will expose it and will destroy understanding is sometimes so you with deception! This is why hard for so many people to do, there is a very long list of sins via and it was that way for me as many forms of temptations well. Like I said, I had two because his arsenal comes with a options from which to choose. fierce blow! If he can't get you with one, he has so many others But actually, I had no choice. I from which to choose. It all starts knew it was God calling me back with selfishness and it all ends to Him. I knew that I just had to with selfishness. We are our own scream out with all my might, worst enemies, and most are not "Please Jesus help me!" I cried! I aware of it! I can give you a better yelled! I shouted! I begged! So description of who the (We) are many tears were just falling from by saying our flesh. Our flesh is my eyes along with my broken our own worst enemy. Now I heart! It was that moment of understand, I have spent a few surrender which was so beautiful, minutes talking about the devil so memorable and so peaceful. and his deception. To me, it’s Finally, I could breathe! Finally, I very important to realize who is was able to let go of the very against you, why he is against thing that was destroying me, you, and what he is trying to which was and who was myself! accomplish! Learning is the Key! Yes, Finally I understood the Knowledge is the Key! calm and content in which Understanding is the Key! Getting choosing Jesus instantly to the point of really provided! It was true what they

said. You know how when one chooses to give his or her burdens to God, then God will give them rest! I learned a bit later that this very statement comes from the Bible. It is actually found in the Book of Matthew, Chapter 11, Verse 28, and it says, "Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." (KJV). What an Incredible quote from an Incredible Man! This Man is named Jesus, and I was so happy to call on His Name. Total surrender is the key!! Humility is the Key! Admitting & acknowledging that we just cannot make it on our own, and we desperately need Jesus even to take another breath; yea, this is the key! I had two choices to choose from which had two different destinations, and had two different outcomes. One was a path of destruction, and broad is the way and many travel on this

road. It’s the most popular deception ever. The other choice is a self-denial, total surrendered life in which one actually loses his so-called worldly life in order to find a new life. This is the narrow path which few travel on because the proud, the mean, the selfishness, the cruel, and the unloving do not take this route! This is a road where the world and the things of this world mean nothing to them who are traveling on it! It’s a very tight fit at times. It’s a very rough ride at times. It’s a constant battle, a nonstop spiritual battle against the evil forces. This is where we choose no longer to lean on our own understanding. "What does that mean?” You Ask!! Funny You

Should Ask...

KIDZ SECTION Hey kids! How was your Fourth of July? Mine was pretty cool! I went to a carnival, watched fireworks, and played games! I had a good time with my family too! As much as I love summer, I’m afraid it is coming to an end. August is coming up which means school will be here soon. Just because summer is coming to an end doesn’t mean that you can’t have fun! Want a few outdoor activities to do during August? Read below: 1: Play games outside such as ‘Red Rover, Red Rover’* 2: Camp out in your front or backyard 3: Take a walk** I love to take walks! Not only do they help me with exercise, but they also help me keep my body ** When you are taking a walk, make healthy and ready for school! sure you have at least one other person Things to pray about: Having a good rest of the summer Having a good school year The wounded/sick people The healing of nonbelievers The casting out of demons AND  Pray to know God better     

with you. When you are walking together, try to say the different sounds you hear and what you think they are. Or, talk about things that happened today. Make the walk a game or a time to chat! Just because it is a walk does not mean that it can’t be fun!

*To play ‘Red Rover, Red Rover’, get about 10 people and split into two teams. Line up each team facing each other. Have team one hold hands really tight, then say, “Red Rover, Red Rover, send _____ right over” (The blank space is where you say the name of the person you want to come over to your team.) The person you called over then sprints to your side and tries to crash through the joined hands. If they crash through, they go back to their team. If they DON’T crash through, they stay on your side. Just keep doing this until there are two people on team one OR team two. The team with the most people wins!

By: Leon Gosiewski An indisputable fact of Bible prophecy is that Jesus is going to return for His bride, the church. There will be a wonderful and glorious marriage supper for the Lamb where we read on the invitation, ‘Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready’ (Revelation 19: 7). Did you notice the proclamation of that key message, ‘his Bride has made herself ready’? When we think about attending a wedding we can draw a number of parallels with the message of making ourselves ready for Jesus. We first receive the invitation to attend the wedding. At this point we, of course, make a personal decision to either attend or not to attend, and we then make this decision known to the invitee.. Before the day of the marriage and its celebration we spend time thinking about how we will suitably present ourselves and the gift we can give. We go in search of that gift, and a cost is involved. The closer we are to and the higher we esteem the couple getting married, the more we invest in them. There are clear equivalents between an earthly wedding celebration and the spiritual wedding celebration. We receive an invitation to accept Jesus or reject his offer. Those that have

accepted the invitation undertake spiritual preparation as they think about what can possibly be given through faith and spiritual service. The more we love and esteem the Lord, the more we give of ourselves in realization that taking up the cross of Jesus brings with it a price, the price of denial of self and giving all to Jesus (Luke 9: 23). As we continue thinking about the wedding invitation parallels there is a period of getting ready for the big occasion and this takes time. It is not something we can rush. We need to make sure we have everything needed and we are ‘spotlessly clean’ and perfectly presentable, arrayed in our best finery. If on the day of the wedding we over sleep, and we’ve left everything to the last moment, trying, on that day to get the gift and everything else we need, the chances are the door of the church will have closed and the service be already underway before we get there!

Leon Gosiewski Just as we need to awake, take time to ready ourselves and look the best we can for an earthly marriage, how much more time and effort will our spiritual marriage need? This is why we should live lives of readiness, alertness and expectancy; expectant of the total fulfilment of God’s promise that Jesus will return. Being ready therefore means we are awake, we are suitably attired, we have what we need, and we are alert and watching for the moment to arrive. In all honesty, I do not know what the specifics are of God’s intentions for the next couple of years. I do know that we must stand fully prepared and ready. I do know that God

provides signs for us to watch and heed. Part of our spiritual preparation starts with repentance and clearing the debris of sin that is why Paul said, ‘examine yourselves, to see whether you are holding to your faith. Test yourselves. Do you not realize that Jesus Christ is in you? – unless indeed you fail to meet the test’ (2 Corinthians 13: 5, 6)! If we do not look at ourselves and put ourselves to the test we do not know where we stand. Why is this so important? Because Jesus is coming for those, ‘without spot

or wrinkle or any such thing, that she [the church, each Christian believer] might be holy and without blemish’ (Ephesians 5: 27). The question should surely be, ‘what must I do’? And having answered this we must of course do what is necessary. The tragic reality however is that few will look to themselves and perhaps even fewer will act to do whatever is actually needed.

rapture. This situation, if it is one that any of us hold is spiritually dangerous for at least two reasons: a) A lack of urgency leads to complacency and carelessness. In short, it leaves us off guard and open to attack and deception b) As we see from the parable of the ten maidens being unready is foolish to the extreme. Jesus left us with a warning to watch and remain ready.

Unfortunately the passage of time has made many complacent and few are truly living in the eager expectancy of an imminent

By: Faye Hanshew Wow! The articles this month on the different Heroes of Faith are magnificent! God truly has gifted many writers the ability to put His Word on paper! Isn’t it amazing how God can get his Word out to people? Through articles, testimonies, ads, plays, sermons, or just by reading His Word! And not just those of Bible days, but yet today, He is still using His people. I remember watching a movie one time where God was trying to talk to a specific person, who was trying NOT to listen. God went as far as to put his Word on a billboard, “THINK God!” What an awesome Word. Not “Thank” but “Think.”

listened to God and wrote the Bible as our road man, or set of instructions…BIBLE….Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth! We have John the Baptist, Luke, Matthew, Mark not discounting the many more. And of course there were people like Paul and Timothy! Paul knew that Timothy was young, and may have those who would not listen to him, so Paul told Timothy, “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” 1 Timothy 4:12.

Abraham was probably the oldest Hero of Faith in Bible days, and of course, Jesus, who was the most important Hero of Faith. I am so very proud of our writers who have given Jesus the credit for being the Hero above all Heroes! Jesus not only came to earth, gave His life for our sins, took the stripes for our healing, but then He rose again giving us the total package we need. Not just for salvation in the religious terms, but salvation according to the Greek language, which is “Sozo” or salvation for every area of your life. This means if you have a physical ailment, if you are in financial need, if you lack friends, or whatever you need, he paid the price that you might receive the answer.

I Timothy 4:12 has meant so much to us. I remember the first church my husband and I pastored not too long after we were married. Bill was only 20 years old and still wet behind the ears as some say. But he loved God, he studied God’s Word and we stood on Faith during our time there. One lady quit our church because she said we were not old enough to be pastoring, and one Sunday the deacons came and told us that they would have to take the tithes to pay the church bills. Well, that particular Sunday, the tithes was $0.35! But he never let any of this set him back from following God’s call on his life. I used to tell him, “Honey, please don’t preach on Faith today, because if you do, we surely will have to stand on it!”

After Jesus, we have plenty of New Testament Heroes who

As we moved from California to Missouri, we took another church.

Faye Hanshew You must understand that even though in the same organization, California and Missouri churches were quite different. Missouri did not allow their ladies to wear pants, jewelry, get perms….and so much more! I remember our first winter there. It snowed, and my little Kindergarten sweetheart wore dresses in the snow! Her little legs, although covered with tights, were so cold. I cried so much because people were allowing a dress code to dictate who they were in God. We prayed and studied. Bill would stay up late watching preachers on TV, and then crying out to God, “God, there must be more.” My parents were pastors and my in-laws were pastors, but I saw Bill study more than I have seen anyone else. He was determined to know the “TRUE” Word of God. I remember one time I stood up in church and proclaimed, “Thank you Jesus that I am healed from

allergies!” Although at that time, I could not even go outside without wheezing! It was not too much longer and my husband was called before the district board and ask, “Why are you preaching that Hagan and Copeland stuff?” He asked, “What is a Hagan and Copeland?” At that time, we had no idea who Kenneth Hagan or Kenneth Copeland was, nor did we know anyone else who was teaching the Faith message that God was revealing to us! Thank God, we met a pastor, Darryl Rhodes, who also knew the Faith message and taught us about Galatians and not living under the law! He gave us tapes by Kenneth Hagan, Kenneth Copeland, Marilyn Hickey, Fred Price, and many other great men and women of God. We listened and studied hard to understand all the truth that we had already seen in God’s Word, and soon it all came to light! Praise God we no longer live in bondage! Praise God, we soon learned that we did not have to be sick for His glory! We now stand and live by John 10:10, which says: “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” KJV In the AMP, it says, “The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).” So, now we know that anything that is bad, is from satan, no questions ask. When sickness tries to come in, it is from satan, when financial struggles try to hold us back, it is satan again trying to cause us to quit. When bad storms come, it is satan. Did

you know you have the power or authority, to command those storms to dissipate back into the atmosphere just as Jesus did the storm on the sea? So that is exactly what we do. Does that mean satan will quit harassing you? No, but it does mean that we do not listen to him any longer! Is there anywhere in the Bible that says you will die of cancer? NO! Then don’t accept it. Only accept what the Word says…1 Peter 2:24 and Isaiah 53:5 takes care of that…You ARE and you WERE healed! Because we chose not to quit teaching faith, we were asked to resign from the organization, so we did. Not long after, we started an independent church. We started from scratch, and it was not long we were running 125. But there was a very charismatic minister was in the next town, and people started going over there. I won’t get into that story, but he was sent to prison for hurting some of his young people. At our church, a lady who was visiting her daughter came up to my husband and told him, I was praying about sending you $10,000 for your ministry. Did she know just how much that would have helped our little church? But instead, later, we heard that she decided to send it to a TV preacher, who not long after that, made some decisions without God’s integrity. We wondered why this happened like this…but we continued. Then, our church started to fill and we did not know why at first. We were happy to see so many coming, but a new book had come out that we had not yet heard of. It was called, “88 Reasons why Jesus will come back in1988!” Some may remember it. Our church was packed, until January

1, 1989! We tried to tell them not to listen, but satan had them believing a lie. So, just as fast as they came, they also left. When my parents were getting older, Bill and I felt the need to be closer to them to help care for them. I had been working for the State of MO at that time for 8 years, so I put in to transfer. A position came open in Rolla, so we prayed about it. Bill went to a church about an hour from us one evening with a friend, and the minister called him out and told him the move we were about to make was right, but there was a big devil waiting. WOW! There was no possible way he could have known that we were thinking of moving, except by God. But boy did we ever want to change our minds on that word and NOT go to Rolla! But we believed God had a plan, and we knew that He is bigger than any demon or devil! We wondered what or who that devil was. Now, we know, it was a spirit of religion. It was revealed that he has fought in this town for over 50 years destroying ministers who have tried to bring in the Word of Faith message. So, we opened a church here in Rolla. Things were going great. Bill not only pastored, but drove 100+ miles to work every day, came home and worked on the church building at night. He did this too long, and one day while on the job, hurt his back. This turned into a 5 year injury before he had surgery. During that time, he was bent over for 3 years, and couldn’t stand straight. After surgery, he developed massage blood clots in both of his legs and had to have a green field filter implanted so that the clots would not reach his lungs or heart. Even after surgery, he was in and out of

the hospital several times. One time, he couldn’t walk. They did every test imaginable, thinking that he had developed GuillainBarre, which is a problem with the nervous system. Thank God, they were wrong. The doctors sent Bill home with a hospital bed saying he may never walk again. We prayed and believed, and prayed and believed, and prayed some more. After about 30 days, he stood up, and walked! GOD IS OUR HEALER!!!! But, because the injury lasted so long, he had to let the church dissolve. The church was so new, and there were only baby Christians, and we had no one to help keep it going. In 2008, we started WWF, Worship and Word Fellowship. We just closed the building for this church the last of June, 2014. The spirit of religion is still trying to stop what God wants in this city! We are having a Bible Study now in our home, and we are planning on traveling. God has spoken to us that we are to continue with the Worship and Word Christian University, have a media ministry, and that we will be traveling to help encourage pastors. I have said all of this to say that even through all the darts satan throws, we KNOW that God has a plan. We have our trust in our Almighty Father God, His son, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit!

This is the first time I have wrote a testimony of sorts. I had the best parents a girl could have. I was raised in church, never been on drugs, never tasted alcohol or smoked. Never did anything more than go to church, and love God. But, I have seen so much during my life, and sometimes it is not easy for me to trust. Oh, don’t get me wrong, I trust my God, and have never doubted His love for me. But it is not that easy with people. Sometimes, we (people) just don’t listen when God speaks to us when He is trying to use us to help someone else, or give them a word from God. But during my married life, all the sermons I have heard, the services I have been in, and the times God has spoken to my heart, the majority of the time, has been through my husband, Bill. I doubt that I have ever told him, but he has helped me grow more in God’s Word than anyone.. So….My Hero of Faith is my Husband, Bill. You ask why? What special thing has he ever done? Well, in my single years, I traveled with a singing group, and I have traveled with a traveling evangelist and his family, I also worked in my home church. So, I have chosen Bill simply because I know he hears from God. He takes the time to study for sermons; he takes the time to pray. He lives a good clean life

for God. There has never been a time that he has not put me first, other than God! There are many times in our lives and in the lives of our children that God has spoken through him. Sometimes it is not easy to listen, but the words have always been right. Through everything he has gone through, including his health, he has stayed true to God. God has used him to help many people. He will tell you that “HE” never healed anyone, but that he only prays and speaks what God gives him. JESUS is the healer! And I am proud of him for that! But even when satan tries to tear him down, he climbs right back up to do whatever God wants him to do. Is this not what a hero does? I believe so! Thank you Bill for being the man of God you are, and for loving me, your children, and your grandchildren like you do. And thank you for giving us a heritage to hang on to! Knowing God is better than anything money could buy, better than all the fame the world can give, and better than anything else this world has to offer! I love you Bill Hanshew! You are my Hero of Faith!
