OCTOBER IS CLERGY APPRECIATION MONTH! Set aside a Sunday, better if early in the month and show your Pastors (both husband and wife) and the other clergy of your church your appreciation for what they do for you. As a suggestion, we were the newest on staff at a particular church, and we took over an entire Sunday morning service. I was the MC, and I had some of the congregation (some who were new members and some who had been there a long time to stand and say a word about a member of the staff and how they had been a blessing to them. My husband preached the service, and then we handed out gifts to all the staff. In particular, we sent the Pastors and Associate Pastors on a 3 day 2 night get-a-way. The rest of the staff, we gave physical gifts like gift certificates for a nice meal. Whatever you do, if your church is large or small, just do something. Maybe it can’t be this extravagant, but do something to let them know you love and appreciate them. (Remember to get the entire congregation involved in giving toward the gifts.) God will bless all those who participate, and it will do a world of good for the Pastors and staff.

Pastors and Staff – We call you Blessed. Go and enjoy doing the work God has called you to do with a Happy Heart! God Bless You! And We LOVE YOU! Also, Dr. Bill and I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all the Writing Staff of Faith Unlimited. Without you, we would not have a magazine! We love and appreciate the time you take out of your busy schedule to hear from God and write an article. Also those who have contributed testimonies, ads, and recipes. From Dr. Bill and Faye, Thank you for everything! May God richly bless you!

WORSHIP REVEALED By: Pastor Jeremy LaBorde

Worship today, in many cases, is portrayed as an experience rather than an expression rooted in a true relationship with God our Father. I can't help but start with my own testimony of when true worship began in my life. I began to realize love should be the base and foundation of everything that I do. In 1Corinthians translation says:

13:1-7,

the

Message

1 If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don't love, I'm nothing but a creaking of a Rusty gate. 2 If I speak God’s word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, "Jump,"and it jumps, but I don't love, I'm nothing. 3-7 If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don't love, I've gotten nowhere. So no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I'm bankrupt without love. I began to see that any outward action means absolutely nothing to God unless it is birthed from that which is of Love. And God is Love! Worship is the communication Highway of the Spirit realm! In order for me to truly be able to worship God the way He

required, it would mean I would have to receive what I needed from Him. Only God can give me the ability to truly worship Him. God is the Pastor Jeremy LaBorde creator of everything. He is the genesis of all things good. He is the beginning and the end, the Alpha and Omega. I also realized that worship is a way of life. It is sincerely loving God with all your heart, with all your soul, and all of your strength. Deuteronomy 6: 4-5 KJV 4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord: 5 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

Being a true worshipper also required my receiving the Good News of God’s Plan- a supernatural gift that came from Him- being born again! With this new birth, God gave me a new heart and a new Spirit. Daily, He is renewing my mind with His thoughts by the washing of the water of His Word. He has become my strength- my everything! Ephesians 5: 25-27 25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

The foundation of true worship is birthed in the heart of man by the giver of life and the creator Himself. There is a passage in the scriptures that says the father is searching for those who will worship him in Spirit and in truth. John 4:19-24 shares a testimony of what I call the Great Invitation! Jesus met a woman at a well who was drawing water. Jesus revealed to her God’s plan for man. He told the woman that he was the water that could quench the thirst of a man’s soul! I believe it's in every person to desire to worship because we were created by God, the one who is worthy of all worship. Of course, the mind of the woman related to the physical realm of the senses, and she began to discuss the outward acts of worship and opinions of man with which she was familiar. Jesus let the woman know that God the Father had the answer. The true answer to true worship would be revealed by man’s Creator.

Pastor Jeremy LaBorde

John 4: 23-24 23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. Like the woman at the well, I found myself thirsty for more of God. As I emptied the

glass of every lust, my glass filled to overflowing with God’s love. When we are able to see and receive the magnificent love that God has toward us, John 3:16 KJV-For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life- we will be able to express the Greatness of our Father God. It is His overwhelming, saturating love revealed in us that will cultivate into a life of worship. Every song we sing will be to sing His song. Every breath we breathe will to breathe His breath. Our Life will be True Worship!

CORPORATE

WORSHIP 2 Chronicles 5:13-14 says, “13indeed it came to pass, when the trumpeters and singers were a s one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD, and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the LORD, saying: “For He is good, For His mercy endures forever,” that the house, the house of the LORD, was filled with a cloud, 14so that the priests could not continue ministering because of the cloud; for the glory of the LORD filled the house of God.” I was raised in and around the days of great Pentecostal revivals. In the 1960’s and 70’s we experienced powerful moves of God, with great manifestations of the Shekinah glory of God. Today it seems that many have forgotten about true worship, about entertaining His presence with our praise, or even waiting in His glory as we

By: Dr. Bill Hanshew

worship. It is absolutely scriptural and necessary that we, the church both as the individual and the corporate body of Christ give ourselves to God in our worship. We must take time for Him and give opportunity for God’s presence to manifest in a greater dimension than what we’ve ever known. The body of Christ (the church) is identified both as the individual and the corporate body of Christ. And although God’s presence dwells within us, there are times as we worship when the Holy Spirit manifests Himself in a greater way or a greater dimension than we are used to. God’s house of worship (individually and corporately) should be filled with continuous manifestations of His glory. Yet in this day and time, we attend a house of worship and yet at the same time, we are a house of worship. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 says, “19Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God and you are not your own? 20For

you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” Therefore, our body and spirit were created to worship God. And we express our worship by singing, with dancing and in lifting holy hands to exalt His name. In the Old Testament, when the worshippers came together, the glory of God was ushered in because of their purity of heart and their worship. Believers today desires the glory of God to come down or to manifest, but many are not interested in any artificial glory. When there is no glory manifesting in the church, leaders will often attempt to improvise and try to create programs or gadgets that keep folks entertained with something to replace God’s glory. Even at creation, the first thing God did was clothe man in His glory. Genesis 2:25 says, “And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.” Adam and his wife were naked physically, yet they were clothed supernaturally with “the glory of God.” But when they sinned, Genesis 3:7 says, “Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together

and made themselves coverings.” The covering of God’s glory was lifted, so they made for themselves, imitation or artificial coverings because their supernatural covering or glory was removed. In 2 Chronicles 5:11 it says, “And it came to pass when the priests came out of the Most Holy Place (for all the priests who were present had sanctified themselves, without keeping to their divisions).” There is something to be said about faithful church attendance, especially when the minister shows up…right? Yet the minister cannot do corporate worship alone. 12 Verses 12-13 says, “ and the Levites who were the singers {the praise & worship team}, all those of Asaph and Heman

and Jeduthun, with their sons and their brethren, stood at the east end of the altar, clothed in white linen, having cymbals, stringed instruments and harps, and with them one hundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets—13indeed it came to pass, when the trumpeters and singers were as one {which speaks of unity}, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD, and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the LORD, saying: “For He is good, For His mercy endures forever,” that the house, the house of the LORD, was filled with a cloud,” It is ok for the music or the worship to be heard. It is absolutely necessary for the singers to be in their place as well as the musicians to be tuned up, prayed up, in unity and ready to worship as they make some noise up in His house.

Again, we are the house or temple of the Lord. But the place we meet at each week is also the corporate meeting place or house of the Lord. Then the church should sing and declare, “For He is good, For His mercy endures forever.” In the New Covenant, the glory of God lives inside each individual believer. And Jesus has washed us clean by His own blood, so that we can offer up praise and worship with a pure heart. Hebrews 13:15 says, “Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.” God’s people should worship Him with everything that is within them, and they should bless the Lord through praise & worship, using every available resource God has given them. The church today (individually and corporately) cannot survive without God’s Shekinah glory manifesting among us on a regular basis. We need greater

visitations from the presence of the Lord. Adam & Eve had regular visitations from God. Genesis 3:8 says, “And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.” They knew the sound of God approaching for a daily visit with His creation. Yet they purposely “hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God.” It is time to once again, entertain the glory of God with our worship and not just rush to get it done. This is one reason why the church (individually) must worship together (corporately) in God’s

presence. It is because of His Shekinah glory manifesting in our worship, in our preaching and in our fellowship with Him that causes the church to be the church today. 2 Chronicles 5:14 says that as they worshipped, “…the priests could not continue ministering because of the cloud; for the glory of the LORD filled the house of God.” …Think about it!

John 3:16 (Amplified Bible)

16

For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His [a] only begotten ( unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life.

By: Genice Fulton But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. (John 4:23) There was a time when I first started church that during worship service I could not enter in. I was so broken and hurt, every time I tried, my heart was pierced with His love and I knew if I continued worshipping Him the ushers would have to scrape me off the floor. If you are in a worship service and you see someone looking around instead of singing and “entering in”, pray for that person. Understand it may not necessarily mean that individual is refusing to participate or viewing worship service as a spectator sport. It may just be that person is being healed right where they stand even if their outer appearance doesn’t reflect it. If you are one who cannot yet fully participate in worship as your hear desires, that’s ok. God meets us where we’re at. Just know,

He loves us too much to leave us there. Refuse to grow weary and give up, and you will reap. (Galatians 6:9) During those early days, I prayed for freedom to worship Him. He has answered those prayers and now I freely worship Him and chains continue to be broken and I continue to be set free. And so can you. (Matthew 7:7)

Several weeks ago I was in a worship service and the worship team was amazing. Every instrument was being played with excellence. Every voice was singing in perfect harmony. Every sound was phenomenal. As odd as this may sound, it was a little distracting. I had to fight against the distraction. Everything was so beautiful I just wanted to stare at the musicians playing their instruments. I wanted to take it all in and be blessed by it. I fought against the distraction and pressed in to

worship Him. I was there to worship Him, not to be entertained. God spoke to my heart, “Every part of every worship service is critical. Worship service is worship, not entertainment. Enter further in. Minister to Me. You are not in worship service in order for the worship team to minister to you.” I pressed into worship further and He said, “Every word is critical. Every note is critical. Listen to every note. Be carried on each note.” I listened intently to every note I could distinguish. I don’t mean every chord as I couldn’t tell you a c from a d

sharp (if a d sharp even exists). I’m talking about every sound bringing me to a place of Heaven on earth and changing my life! I didn’t want to leave that place, but God said, “Open your eyes.” I opened my eyes and looked at the keyboard player’s fingers. I meditated on, “Every note is critical.” God showed me if the keyboard player had missing fingers he wouldn’t be able to play every note. Missing fingers would result in missing notes. Missing notes would result in missing ministry. Missing ministry would result in missing healings, revelation and people being set free. About two weeks later, I was in a healing service. People were being healed where they stood while worshipping God. Not one person was being prayed for and over 100 people left that service healed. Growths dissolved. People were able to physically do what they weren’t able to do when they arrived. One woman even removed her oxygen and testified she was healed! This made me further understand how every word and every note is critical. As

these people entered in and were carried upward to a place of Heaven on earth, their physical bodies were being healed! Every note and every word was obviously playing a critical part in each person’s life and the experience was life changing! A quick search of the effects of music on the brain will result in findings so enormous one cannot read it

all. It is obvious now and has been for centuries that music profoundly affects people emotionally, physically and spiritually. I’ve observed my children and the effects of music on them since they were small infants. Children move to the flow of the music. Music moves people, no pun intended. Numerous articles of research I found

during this study suggested, “Music is the pathway to the soul.” Wow, it behooves us to be watchful of what we listen to. God knew exactly what He was doing when He created music. He created the Hebrew Aleph Bet and attached over 70 layers to each letter. One of those layers is a musical note attached to each letter. The Word of God can literally be played on a musical instrument. This is why David could play his harp for King Saul and the evil spirit that was tormenting him would flee. More teachings on the Hebrew language can be found at www.faithman.org. I’ve learned every minute I spend researching the Hebrew language is valuable time spent. Over the past several weeks I’ve thought about sentences and how taking one word out changes the whole message. For example, the sentence, “I love you.” Remove “you” and we are left with, “I love.” I love what? Pizza? My car? My dog? One word missing out of that sentence makes the sentence incomplete. Every word is critical. Every word we

speak, meditate on or sing is critical. We carry the power of life and death in our mouth. One of my pastors, Dr. Larry Ollison, says it like this, “Your life and your death are in the power of your tongue.” Since every word is critical, I believe we are to make every word count towards life, healing and wholeness for ourselves and everyone who comes into contact with us. Blessings and curses are set before us, we must choose life! On another note, (grin) clapping for the worship team during worship service after every song may be a nice gesture toward the worship team; however, worship service is not a show. Worship is worship. If you are on a worship team, please consider this. Leading worship takes practice and

preparation not only experience and/or education. Since every note and every word is critical, is it critical for you to fully practice and prepare yourself to bring forth everything God has called you to bring forth in every worship service. Not one note is insignificant. Every note you play and every word you say in each and every service has the ability to set people free and change lives forever, through Christ Jesus! Worship is a powerful tool! Live a life of worship in everything you think, say and do! Always have His praise on your lips! “Worship the LORD your God, and His blessing will be on your food and water. I

Genice Fulton will take away sickness from among you, and none will miscarry barren in your land. I will give you a full life span. (Exodus 23:25) This is a powerful promise! Believe it and walk in it! Be a true worshiper worshiping Him in spirit and in truth! He is seeking you!

A Way of Life

All throughout the Bible, we see scriptures about praising and worshipping the Lord. Many Christians don’t have a daily, established prayer life, which should include praise and worship. When kids first learn how to brush their teeth, they don’t always feel like brushing them. They don’t really understand the benefits and how necessary it is. We may not always feel like praising and worshipping the Lord, especially during difficult times in our lives. We also may feel like we are too busy, like we have so many other things we need to, or could be doing. I remember from my experience around children that many of them would rather go play with their toys instead of taking the time needed to brush their teeth. We, as adults have many “toys” too. Our “toys” may be the

computer, television, sports, etc.

the books,

Just as we must make brushing our teeth a priority, we must make time with God a priority. Just as good oral health is evident, good spiritual health is evident too. When we abide in the Vine, Jesus we begin to experience who He is. Worship should not stop at what comes at out of our mouths, but should continue in the way we live our lives. 1 Peter 2:9 says, “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” Romans 12:1 says, “Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies

Kim Miller

Kim Miller a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.” How we live our lives is a form of worship. It is up to us to present our bodies in such a way that glorifies God. Throughout the years, I’ve known many who have said that they love the Lord, but their lives said something very different. We must not

only honor the Lord with our lips, saying that we love Him, we should also be honoring Him with our lives, proving that we love Him. Jesus said in John 14:15, “If you love me, keep my commands.” Salvation is a free gift of God that we receive by faith and cannot ever earn. It isn’t just saying a prayer and stopping there. When someone gets born again, they believe with their heart and confess with their mouth. Then, they become a new creation, as we see in 2 Corinthians 5:1. They love the Lord and truly desire to do the things that are pleasing in His sight. Verse 2 of Romans 12 says, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.”

We must renew our minds with God’s Word and decide that we are going to put off our way of thinking and living. Galatians 5:1617 says, “I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lust against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that you cannot do the things that you would.” Verse 25 says, “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” Matthew 5:13-16 says, “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no long good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled under food by men.”

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.” Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in Heaven.” We are to live our lives differently than the unbelievers’ lives their lives. This brings glory and honor to the Lord. Choose to be a vessel of honor, sanctified, and useful to the Master. Be a living sacrifice of worship to Him. The world is watching you. What will they see?

SPIRITUAL

WORSHIP

By: Leon Gosiewski If you were actually asked what worship means what would you say? It is often the case that worship and praise are so closely linked together that they mean the same thing but although they can link together they are meaningfully different. Sadly and detrimentally there is a lot of confusion and misunderstanding, not only about the true nature of worship but also what it really means for us in practice. These have of course always been significant issues but perhaps more so now because I truly believe we are living in a period of the last days where these confusions and misunderstandings must urgently be uncovered, revealed and importantly, acted upon. With this in mind let’s begin with these two key questions, what exactly is worship? And what does it mean to worship God? These are important questions because if we do not truly understand what worship is we may find difficulty expressing it correctly.

To help us understand worship let’s first take a look at three example scriptures: 1) In Matthew 4: 10 we read these uncompromising words as Jesus confronts the devil’s attempts to lure Him to submit to his power, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve’. The first thing we learn here is that our worship can either be expressed toward

Leon Gosiewski

something or someone. In this example the devil was seeking worship from Jesus, but Jesus made it clear, there is only one person who we should worship and that is God. Worship of idols, people, animals, objects, possessions or the devil; however it is actually done is not acceptable to God. Our worship is specifically directed to God alone. 2) Again in Luke 2: 37 we read about the prophetess Anna who, ‘worshipped with fasting and prayer day and night’ as an outward and practical expression of her adoration toward God. Anna expressed her worship toward God by remaining in the temple and dedicating herself to fasting and praying. Here we see that Anna not only adored God but she expressed her adoration to such an extent that she gave herself to Him as an

act of worship. Our worship of God requires total dedication. 3) And in John 4:24, ‘God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth’. Here Jesus made the timely point that when we worship God today, we must do so clothed in the Holy Spirit and saturated in the word of God and Jesus. In fact, in the previous verse Jesus actually went a step further by saying, ‘the true worshippers will worship in spirit and truth’ (John 4: 23). Who are the true worshippers? Those who are full of the spirit and truth and worship in this context! It may of course not prove particularly comfortable to express and realize but clearly there are worshippers who are not true worshippers because they fail to worship in the context of spirit and truth. Our worship of God not only requires our dedication but it must also be a dedication clothed in the Holy Spirit and Word of God. In these three different situations and circumstances, worship has been generally expressed in diverse ways and so they give us a clue about what worship is and how we should worship. But

what does it factually mean for us to worship God? If we look at the original Hebrew and Greek words a richness and depth of understanding is clearly uncovered.

up’. Am I totally dedicated and submitted to God in every part of my life? You see worship is not about something we simply do occasionally or in certain situations and circumstances. It is a state of permanence. It is a permanent reverence, allegiance and honour because we willingly submit ourselves totally. Put another way, worshipping God is an attitude of mind and heart expressed 24/7. Paul, in his unique way summarized what I have said in these words:

The Hebrew word for worship most commonly used in scripture is shachah, which literally means to bow down or prostrate oneself. In this sense to worship means a total act of willing submission to God. The Greek word for worship is proskyneo, a term that again not only expresses the act of humbly prostrating ourselves before God but it also talks about doing so with profound reverence, respect, allegiance, honour and submission. What we have learned is that our worship of God is not simply about words, singing and feelings expressed at certain times in church services or as and when we feel urged but rather it is about reverence, and the conscious and deliberate act of permanent dedication through allegiance, honour and total submission of ourselves to God. We have to ask ourselves therefore, ‘how do I measure

‘I appeal to you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship’ (Romans 12: 1). The willing and conscious act of showing our dedication, allegiance and honour toward God requires our total submission as we offer our bodies as living sacrifices. Being a living sacrifice is not only acceptable to God, it is our act of holiness and the highest form of worship because it is spiritual worship. The word holy means to separate or to separate ourselves. It is for this reason that Paul goes on to say, ‘Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may prove what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect’ (Romans 12: 2).

In recent weeks and months God has impressed upon me the urgent need in these last days to not only act upon His word personally but also to reach as many as possible with the message to separate from the world and conformity to it. Walking in holiness comes when we stop conforming to the world and separate ourselves from it. It comes as we dedicate ourselves totally to God and prove our allegiance to Him in holy reverence. Nothing less is good enough. It literally is all or nothing. It requires our body,

soul and mind given to God as an act of spiritual worship.

the narrow gate to the Kingdom of Heaven.

For far too long the church has failed to teach the truth and expose people to the reality that Jesus said the way is hard and the door is narrow (Matthew 7: 14). The personal cost of following Jesus and worshipping God is high because our spiritual worship means giving every part of ourselves to Him. The reward is not just a total transformation of ourselves as we walk in the light of Jesus but entry through

Spiritual worship is not about where we worship God, it is about how we express our adoration to worship Him. It is not about what we do in a praise service, it is about who we are before God every moment of every day because God looks at the real intention of our heart not at what we do or say. Are you a true worshipper? If not, what are you going to do about it?

For our November Issue, we had originally announced that if you have someone you wanted to say “Thank You” to for serving in our military, we would be glad to add their picture, name, and branch. However, wisdom says because there have been threats against some of our Veterans, we are not going to put pictures or full names in the magazine. However, if you would like to send a “Thank You” message and just give a first name only, we will be glad to publish those. Thank you for understanding. We never want to be an instrument to bring harm to any of our soldiers, past or present.

PRAISE IN THE DARK By: Pastor Richard Hanshew As you read this article one thing I want you to do is think about some of the things you are going through. Now ask yourself, "In this dark period of my life, am I still praising God?" Most of the time for us the answer is no. You're not praising God. Most of the time your evaluating your situation, worrying about it, stressing or just in mourning. Let's look at one example in the bible of praise. Acts 16:25/26 25 But about midnight, as Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the [other] prisoners were listening to them, 26 suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the very foundations of the prison were shaken; and at once all the doors were opened and everyone’s shackles were unfastened. (Amplified) Here we find that Paul and Silas wrongfully accused and thrown into the inner most depths of the prison. But what we read is that they weren't grumbling and complaining but rather

praying and singing. Let's delve into this and find the valuable strength of Praise.  Many of us have gone or are going through a tough times.  Today we'll discover how to obtain our victory in the midst of the darkness. What were Paul and Silas doing? Were they doing anything wrong? They were serving and trusting in God! Many times it's just that simple. We don't even have to do anything wrong to find ourselves in dark times. Acts 16:16-18 16-18 One day, on our way to the place of prayer a slave girl ran into us. She was a psychic and, with her fortune telling, made a lot of money for the people who owned her. She started following Paul around, calling everyone’s attention to us by yelling out, “These men are working for the Most High God. They’re laying out the road of salvation for you!” She did this for a number of

days until Paul, finally fed up with her, turned and commanded the spirit that possessed her, “Out! In the name of Jesus Christ, get out of her!” And it was gone, just like that. (Message) Rather than praying and praising God we, not unlike Job, have these friends who think they are doing us a service. They tell us, "You don't deserve to be treated like that." or "You're too good for him/her." "They just don't see your potential." "It's not your fault, they should accept you for you." "Don't you ever change." But rather than having a conversation with the keeper of the stars we are captivated by our own situation and begin to focus on our

problem rather than God as our solution. Many of you today are living your lives just as they did. Serving and trusting in God. Going about our daily lives and at times even like Paul, getting fed up! The Devil doesn't like it when you tap in to your authority! When Paul exercised his authority as a servant of God things changed. But really, let's get into the discussion of "PRAISE". (Amplified) Unlike Paul and Silas at most times in our lives when we have troubles or struggles we're not Praising God for victory until we see it. We are a physical, soul and spiritual being. We get caught up in the physical

aspect of who we are though and start looking at things with our natural eyes rather that with the spiritual eyes. Here we find that Paul and Silas, rather that mourn their condition where CELEBRATING their position. They knew they were in jail and there was nothing they could do about it. They knew that they hadn't done anything wrong accept see a woman healed of her condition. Yet here there were imprisoned.

Many times no matter what our situation is whether it is no fault of our own or poor decisions we don't turn to God. We need to see the enormous value of praise. When we work contrary to what our physical man desires, mourning and begin to "PRAISE" God in spite of our condition doors will break open. Where there seemed to be no way of escape from the jail God shook the foundations through their praise and the

way was made clear. The purpose was twofold. God provided an escape for them and God showed himself to the jailer and provided Paul and Silas to lead him to salvation through Jesus. What have we learned through the Bible about praise?  David- sang praise of deliverance from his enemies 2 Samuel 22  Walls of Jericho came down Joshua 6 On and on there are examples of Praise unto God giving victory. I want to challenge you to praise. Next time you are starting to go through a rough patch, dark time or whatever has just gotten you down. Begin to PRAISE God in the midst of the darkness and see what He'll do. You're a child of God and the power of God lives in you. As you begin to pray and Praise God your way will be made, revealed, presented or made clear and you will see light in the midst of the darkness. ARE YOU IN NEED OF A VICTORY?? PRAISE GOD!!

MAINTAINING OUR

FREEDOM TO WORSHIP By: Dan Corse “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” – “FIRST AMENDMENT” OF THE US Constitution. The authors of the US Constitution were wellacquainted with religious practices found in Europe. There citizens were often required to support Christian denominations or groups of which they were not a part and/or did not desire to be a part and experienced limitations to varying degrees related to the exercise of religion. Thus, the authors of the Constitution sought to alleviate those practices. They did so by penning the First Amendment of the Constitution, which denied the federal government the right to establish a state or government run church (insured by what is known as the Establishment Clause); they did so by providing the citizens of the US freedom in the exercise of religion (made certain by the Free Exercise Clause). Continuing our focus on the First Amendment, we see that the word “religion” is used, not the word “denomination,” which today is used to describe any number of Christian sects, not other religions. Thus, the choice of the word “religion” has led many of us to assume the word choice was meant to refer to any number of religions (i.e. Islam, Buddhism, Judaism, of which Christianity would be but one). That assumption, however, is not one that is supported by available historical data from the time of the penning of the First Amendment, though it fits well with our current use of the word “religion” and with the pluralistic view often found in modern society. As is often the case, interpreting history in light of current views and the usages of words, not data available from the time of the history being considered, does not equate to accurate or scholarly history. To further accentuate the fact that interpreting history sans available data or while ignoring that data does not make for accurate or scholarly history, let’s now consider the historical record related to the authorship of the First Amendment. David Barton, in Separation of

Church and State: What the Founders Meant, reminds us: The Congressional Record (required by the Constitution in Art. 1, Sec 5, par.3) contains all the official words and acts that occur in congressional chambers. Those records therefore include the discussion of the Ninety Founders of the first federal congress who, from June 8 to September 25, 1789, framed the First Amendment. In those lengthy discussions that spanned months, the Founders repeatedly explained that they were seeking to prevent what they had experienced under Great Britain: the legal establishment by the national government of a single religious denomination in exclusion to all others (whether Catholic, Anglican, or any other). Very simply, their oftrepeated intent was that Congress could not officially establish any one denomination in America; or, in the wording proposed by James Madison, ‘nor shall any national religion be established.’ (Significantly, the word ‘religion’ in the Founders’ First Amendment discussions was often used interchangeably with the word ‘denomination.’ For example, the original version of the First Amendment introduced in the Senate on September 3, 1789 stated, “Congress shall not make any law establishing any religious denomination” The second version stated, “Congress shall make nno law establishing any particular denomination.” The third version was very similar, declaring “Congress shall make no law establishing any particular denomination in preference to

another” The final version passed on that day declared, “Congress shall make no law establishing religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.” Clearly, the word ‘religion’ had been used interchangeably with ‘denomination’ throughout their discussions, and that is why the First Amendment prohibited the national government from establishing any single ‘religion,’ or denomination. )” At this point, those of us who find ourselves conformed to the view that the word “religion” is used to refer to any number of religions (i.e. Islam, Buddhism, etc.), buoyed by any number of historical discussions we have participated in during our educational experience, may cry, related to the afore stated initially produces in us, negative and/or often emotional reactions when presented with the actual or factual history. Interchangeability of the words “religion” and “denomination” as used in forming the First Amendment, “Foul, such is be the case!” We may even be tempted to view those who would say such a thing as suspect related to their intellectual ability or prowess. Such reactions are common when we encounter history that is based on facts that run counter to what we have been taught. Yet, the question at this point should not be answered by what we have been told to think, but what are the pertinent facts, not opinions, available related to the discussion at hand? In the case of this discussion we have the facts as recorded in the Congressional Record. Ultimately, we have a choice of continuing to believe opinions contrary to the facts or to study the facts, basing our views on those facts. Why is it that sometimes we are presented history that is based not on the facts, but on something other than the facts? Sometimes it is that the person presenting the history is only repeating what he/she has been told, what he/she has been told based on perhaps what used to be considered the facts or due to the facts being inaccessible at the time. Others have ulterior motives or agendas, their primary goal not to present history based on factual information, though the one presenting such information may actually believe he/she is presenting factual information. Ulterior agendas can often be found among those who embrace revisionist history, revisionist historians replacing the factual history with history not based fully or sometimes even partially on the facts. Why would revisionist historians do that? They often do it in order to gain our support for the agendas they embrace, to further those agendas. For example, some find the Christian or Biblical perspective that salvation is only via Christ (supported by John 10:9; John 14:6; Acts 4:12; and 1 John 5:1112) arrogant and haughty, often desiring that we embrace a pluralistic approach to our nation’s spiritual history, the idea that all religious paths (i.e. Christianity,

Islam, Hinduism, etc.) lead to God. Thus, a pluralistic view of our nation’s spiritual history is preferred over the actual one when it comes to the penning of the First Amendment, where the words “religion” and “denomination,” were used interchangeably, that being so providing support for the fact that the founding of our nation was largely based on a Christian heritage. Those supporting a pluralistic view prefer that we erroneously believe that Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, etc. all played a significant role in the founding of this nation, sometimes enhancing that view by saying the word “religion” used in the First Amendment referred to those religions, not considering the fact that the word was used interchangeably with denominations, denominations being used of Christian sects alone, not other religions. Some would even go so far as to suggest that those of all those religions played an integral role in the creation of our founding documents (i.e. the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, etc.). However, the actual history, the factual history, does not support such views. Clearly, the fact that our historical indoctrinations have been so often based on something less than the facts, and, furthermore, often have been subject to disingenuous agendas, our negative and/or often emotional reactions when presented with the actual or factual history are understandable. We are often reacting as those who indoctrinated us taught us or want us to. Recognizing that we have been presented less than accurate historical data, our responsibility as Christians, as those who embrace truth, not error, is not to engage in some sort of misguided tirade against those who taught us faulty information, whether done innocently or maliciously, but to first correct our knowledge base when truth is presented, and then, when possible and appropriate, to help others correct theirs. As for those who presented us false information maliciously, additional actions are sometimes appropriate. As we can see, both innocent and malicious behaviors are responsible for an ongoing and often successful agenda to erode our religious rights as granted by the First Amendment, giving the government rights related to religion the authors of the Constitution never intended for it to have. Advocates for this eroding of our religious rights often tout the “Separation of Church and State” clause, one not found in the Constitution, but used by Thomas Jefferson when writing to the Danbury (Connecticut) Baptists in 1802 to insure them that a wall of separation prevented the federal government from hindering the religious freedom of said Baptists. Sadly, those seeking to trample upon our religious liberties misuse (aided by court decisions related to the First Amendment beginning in 1947 which have eroded our religious liberties) the very clause Jefferson used with the Danbury Baptists to assure them that their religious

rights would not be trampled upon, impeded or curtailed. Continuing still our discussion of the eroding of religious liberties, let us consider a case in point as detailed by a recent American Family Association “Action Alert:”

“What happens when you cross ignorance of law, bad legal advice and a college president without a backbone? At Arkansas State University, you get an unconstitutional violation of religious rights. According to Todd Starnes at Fox News, the ASU football team was told to remove a memorial decal from their helmets after Jonesboro attorney Louis Nisenbaum complained because part of the memorial included a cross. The cross decal was meant to memorialize former player Markel Owens and former equipment manager Barry Weyer, said athletic director Terry Mohajir. Weyer was killed in a June car crash. Owens was gunned down in Tennessee in January. “It is my opinion that the crosses must be removed from the helmets,” university counsel Lucinda McDaniel wrote to Mohajir. ‘While we could argue that the cross with the initials of the fallen student and trainer merely memorialize their passing, the symbol we have authorized to convey that message is a Christian cross.’ But according to Article 6(d)(1) of the official rulebook of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), ‘Persons or events may be memorialized by an insignia not greater than 1-1/2 inches in diameter on the uniform or helmet.’ This clearly indicates the school is practicing unconstitutional viewpoint discrimination against the football players. Help set the record straight… TAKE ACTION!”

If the aforementioned case was unique it may not present a great cause for concern. However, such is not the case. It is but one of many such cases that have occurred and are occurring in our nation, proving that when it comes to religious liberties there is at work in the United States an anti-Christian agenda. The goal of that agenda is to further erode our freedom of worship as Christians, a freedom some of us have long taken for granted. If such is the case, we can no longer afford that luxury. Nor can we afford the luxury of complacency or any other state of being that allows such an agenda to continue unchecked. If we have not already, it is time for us to educate ourselves as to the characteristics of the agenda, throwing it off as well by gaining an accurate knowledge of the blinding aspects of revisionist history that have compelled us to believe the lie rather than the truth when it comes to our nation’s spiritual history. Clearly, it is time to “TAKE ACTION,” not in some ungodly manner, but in a manner marked by faith-energized prayer, displaying the fruit of self-control and godly wisdom, as part of a viable and ongoing effort, and with perseverance

Welcome to

“THE REFUGE” A Place of Safety By: Jonas Sikes

The Refuge

– A place where

we will meet once a month to gather strength, joy and encouragement as we continue to fight the good fight with courage; and, as we continue to love Jesus with all of our heart, mind, soul and strength. I really want you to know how important it is for you to understand that we are indeed in this together. We are family through the blood of Jesus, through the Resurrection of Jesus and, I love you very much! The Refuge is a place where we will always focus on the love, the unconditional love that Jesus has for each and every one of us. If we are going to grow spiritually and mature in Christ, we must come to the understanding that the grace that Jesus gave us is 100% sufficient. We hear about Grace and Mercy and how Jesus willingly died on the cross for our sins. We talk about Love and forgiveness and how Jesus loved us so much that He not only took our rightful spot on the cross, but He also forgives us of our sins. We hear about Prosperity and Favor from the Lord. May I suggest that we focus on the blessings from the Lord regarding Salvation and eternal life? We all need encouragement from time to time and we all need accountability as well. We must understand that with Jesus all things are possible. We must come to realize that Jesus is the reason why we are able to take a breath. Speaking of being able, JESUS IS ABLE! Amen? Jesus is able to do anything and I believe Him when He tells us that “we have not” because we have not asked and whatever

we ask in His name, if we have faith, He will answer. Here is where wisdom comes in. We must pray for HIS WILL to be done and have a willing heart to not only obey the Lord, but to give HIM the praises in every circumstance. So, if you are caught in a storm right now, allow me the honor and privilege to encourage you to stay strong in the Lord, to wait on the Lord, to be in constant prayer with the Lord, and to understand God can be in control if you will just allow Him to be, then you can be assured that everything will work for the good to those who Love Jesus! God does have a plan for you. There will be haters around every corner. There will be a time when people will attack you verbally and quite possibly physically. They will tell lies and call you names. Jesus tells us that we are to thank Him and to praise Him because not only were there others before us that experienced the same treatment, but Jesus Himself suffered much as well. So for now, stand up tall for Jesus. Smile in the midst of your storm because Jesus has promised us that He will never leave us nor forsake us. Psalms 23 starts out like this, “The Lord is my Sheppard I shall not want.” If we go down to verse 4 it says this, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil:” This is the encouragement we need to be seeking as it comes from the Word of God because with God by our side, we truthfully and totally have nothing to worry about or fear!! God Bless you and much Love! Next month we will talk about Perseverance!

GOD SO LOVES HIS CREATED WORKMANSHIP By: Rev. Wayne Johnson

What I am about to say, I pray will help someone because this is And, as a about the Love of God. minister of God’s Word, It started out as a small I knew that problem, so I thought. Jesus was First, let me say this. I had and still is an accident at my place of the healer. employment in 2009. I (1 Peter injured my back, and had 2:24). So, I some nerve damage. The decided doctors informed me that I against the had a 50% chance of operation. recovery, if I had surgery. Now at this time, I had I believed and Rev. been a born-again had faith that Christian, minister, and God was healing me gospel singer for about 25 according to His Word. years. I had teachings of Well, the pain worsened, Kenneth Copeland, Charles and at times became Capps, Jerry Savelle, and unbearable. I thought well, went through three years of I will get some medicine Rhema Bible courses with until my healing came to certificates from Kenneth full manifestation, so the Hagin, Sr. I was also doctors prescribed mentored by my good medications for me. I friend and brother, Dr. Bill thought it would not be Hanshew. I had been Dr. harmful, but as time went Bill’s Associate Pastor for on, the pain got worse. I years, and had also was taking such prescribed pastored some churches medicines as Oxycotin, during this span of 25 Oxycodine, three types of years. muscle relaxers, and two kinds of nerve medicines. I Ok, now back to my story. had got to the point that I I discussed with the doctors lived on the medication. my options and decided 50% was not acceptable.

Wayne Johnson At this point in my life, I couldn’t remember from one day to the next. My life was in a turmoil. In two years, I went from a successful pastor, teacher, and gospel singer, which I loved doing, a loving husband who loved his wife (Teresa) more than anything, except God, a dad that loved his children and a person that family, brothers sisters, and loved ones could come to when they needed someone. Honestly, I had hit rock bottom! I had become a person that didn’t care. I deserted everyone who loved me; my wife, my family, my friends, the

church, and most of all God. I blamed everyone but myself. Of course I always thought the next day would be better, but it just got worse. I would lay in bed at night, quote scriptures, and believed that if I died that night, I would not see my loved ones in Heaven. I would ask God to help me, but nothing seemed to happen. I knew I had friends praying for me. My wife would never give up hope. She told me later that she had said to God, “God, this is my husband and the devil cannot have him! He has work to do for You God. You chose him, ordained him with Your Annointing, and I am standing strong and steadfast on Your Word that Wayne is coming back!” All of this time was around two years or a little more. Then one day I was with my sister (Peggy). She had some tests at the hospital and I was waiting for her in the waiting room. I picked up a magazine and underneath the magazine was a Bible. It is so amazing how God

works! So, I put the magazine down and picked up the Bible. When I opened it, John 3:16 was right there. I had read that verse and even preached on that verse numerous times! But this time was different. God just spoke like He was sitting right next to me. He said, “I Love You, even though you don’t love yourself.” Then He said, “Go and do what I have called you to do; my gifts and callings are without repentance.” At that moment, I knew what had to be done. And at that point I didn’t care what people thought. I WAS COMING BACK TO GOD!! It was as though everything would be just fine.

Well, the next day, I knew what I had to do. And here is where the Miracle of God happened! In this situation, I called the doctor and set the next available appointment. I told the doctor that I was coming off my medications. Of course, that was unheard of and the doctor said there could be risks…extreme risks in coming off these medicines all at once. But I told the doctor about my experience with God, and this is the way it had to be. The doctor insisted that he could wing me off of the medication. But I had to obey God, and it had to be this way. So that day was it. The prescribed drugs, Oxycotin, Oxycodine three kinds of muscle relaxers, and two kinds of nerve medicines were disposed of. The real reason I know this was a miracle was because the doctors said it would be impossible. Mark 10:27 says, “All things are possible with God.”

Wayne & Teresa Johnson

Now, I have my wife back; we are happy and so much in

love. My family and friends are back in my life. I am back in the ministry preaching and teaching God’s Word, along with singing again. ALL BECAUSE OF GOD’S GRACE. I guess my point about all this whole story is that it

could happen to anyone. None of us are above God, and we can’t do it alone. It has to be with God. I thought I had it all, and really, I did! But I took my eyes, my focus, my heart, and mind off God and turned it elsewhere. We can’t do anything without God. We might “think” we do sometimes, but it is still God. God is still God the Creator of Heaven and Earth, the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and end.

to convey that God loves each and every one of us. He is waiting with outstretched arms. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore being a new creature in Christ Jesus, all things are passed away, and all things become new.” 1. New way of thinking 2. New talking and actions. Don’t let the devil or people talk you out of anything. Finally, Mark 10:27 says, “With men it is impossible. But not with God, for with God ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!” Your past, God forgives and forgets!

As I close this testimony, I just want

Wayne sang the National Anthem at a local rodeo this year! We are so Happy what God has done in his life! Someone once said, “Never stop believing in HOPE because MIRACLES happen every day! Praise God! Dr. Bill & Faye Rev. Wayne Johnson

Hey kiddos!! How are you? I'm doing great! Music. One of my favorite things!! You have many different genres in the music category!! One of my personal favorites is Christian music!! But within that genre, you have smaller genres like pop, rock, and many more! But you also have songs! A couple of my favorite songs are 'We Are Running' by Hillsong, and, my personal favorite, 'This I believe' also by

Hillsong!! The words also matter though... Anna Martin

Music isn't about how much you like the beat or how catchy it is, it's about what the words are saying and whether or not you agree with them... In 'This I Believe', it says "I believe in God our father. I believe in Christ the son. I believe in the Holy Spirit. Our God is three in one!" It says much more, but that's not the point. It is a beautiful song and it has a great message.. I challenge you all to listen to it! Listen to the words for the first verse and the chorus, then sing along whenever you feel like it! Christian songs, specifically, give great messages! Look up Christian songs and sing with them and have a moment with God! I'll talk with you next month!

Anna

BUTTERSCOTCH PIE If you don't know how to make, or have never made: If you don’t cook the filling long enough, the filling will run when Angel McNabb the pie is sliced. Butterscotch pie is simply a Brown Sugar & Butter pudding made with egg yolks. The pie gets its butterscotch flavor from replacing granulated sugar with brown sugar. Cream pie fillings have to be stirred constantly (we used a wire whisk) or they'll scorch. When stirring, be sure to reach into the corners of the saucepan because the pudding tends to cook quicker in those hard-to-reach areas. The filling for each recipe takes about 10 minutes or longer to thicken. 2 C. Scalded Milk 1 Stick of Butter 1 ½ C. Light Brown Sugar (2 lb Bag=5 cups) 2 HEAPING Tbs. Flour 2 Egg Yolks 1 teaspoon Vanilla 1 Pinch Salt

Step 1: Begin by Heating Milk on Med. Heat. Keep It heating on back Burner while you start Step 2.. Beat Egg Step 2: Put Butter in Large Heavy Bottom Sauce Pan and Melt. Add Brown Sugar. Bring to a Boil on Med. High Heat, Stirring Constantly, with a wire Wisk for approximately 4-6 min. You will smell when it starts to Caramelize. It will start to smell stronger, and turn a dark Carmel Color. (My best Pie's have been when I’ve cooked it for as long as I can and bring it to right before it burns). Remove from heat, and add flour, stirring constantly, a little at a time. Quickly take ½ Cup of the Scalded Milk, and add it slowly, stirring constantly, to the Egg yolks, so they won’t cook. Step 3: Put Butterscotch Mixture back on the Med. High Burner, and slowly add the scalded Milk, (this will sizzle so you have to keep stirring constantly and quickly, or the mixture will harden.) Once Milk is added, Mixture should still be bubbling. Step 4: Add egg mixture, Vanilla, and Salt, and cook for about 5-10 min. till it thickens. Pour into baked Pie Shells. ENJOY!!!!!!!!! NOTE: When I make them my family FIGHTS over them. I have to make 6-8 at one time and I have to have someone help me when I make them. They are not a beginner’s recipe!
