AVM PAVILION
2015 the AVM pavilion seeks to establish a space in which students on campus can occupy and experience. the unit itself was inspired by vegetal formations, and the geometry from the arabesque patterns and muqarnas in islamic architecture. the pavilion’s design is aesthetically and practically classified through 3 factors: 1. ANIMAL - deals with the creation of the massing and how the overall form is relative to the site. 2. VEGETABLE - relates to the floral inspirations which were abstracted and aggregated. 3. MINERAL - the materials; stainless steel + powder coat paint + stickers + concrete slab. and how it was fabricated and materialized. the prefabricated units and construction systems enabled a modular and straight forward installation. a unique system that has a striking presence, whilst simultaneously creating natural ventilation and opportunities for unique lighting schemes.

SARGASSUM CITY
2014 the world has been rendered uninhabitable due to the increase in atmospheric toxicity levels, forcing the leftover population to move underground. the post-apocalyptic city has been desgined to utilize photobioreactor technology in which light energy is used to promote biological growth. the tensile structure is able to host a variety of vegetation to sustain the energy and food demand of the population. it is sensitive to the physiological state the city is in and is able to extrapolate in infinite numbers when needed. Sargassum is composed of three interdependent systems: the primary infrastructural grid (represented in acrylic), the secondary and tertiary acrylic components and finally the tensile structures. our primary intention was to effectively employ the materials chosen to produce a striking, but functional gestural landscape that would break today’s concept of a normative city.

CULINARY SCHOOL
2013 a proposal for a culinary institute in the city of sharjah, this project aims to create a community setting that nurtures the growth of a new culture within the UAE that is food oriented. the building varies in terms of the degree of transparency, the program mirroring it’s design. the ingredients are mostly grown on campus that are located within each buffer zone between the buildings. the buildings are constructed using concrete, with thick cantilevering concrete slabs. the design aims to draw in the community from the city and the sharjah corniche.

2012 a furniture designer’s workshop and gallery that was mainly a design exploration of form and structure. it was a test of the material’s quality, flexibity and efficiency: stainless steel proved to create an interesting enclosure that could easily be modulated, and aggregated.

2011 a residential project that was designed to be placed within an existing heritage site - known as Bastakiya. the aim was to produce a modern addition to the existing conditions/context, in a complimentary way, while maintaining the use of the brick module and integrating a courtyard.
