Get connected with your city The City of Fayetteville, Georgia is a great place to call home, and residents who participate and stay informed will enjoy living here even more. We invite you to visit our new website, where you will find expanded access to news, events and other important features. You can even pay bills online. If you haven’t done so already, please sign up for city e-mail notifications, and you’ll be among the first to know when monthly newsletters and these Bi-Weekly Reports are available for viewing. More than 1,400 of you are already signed up, and when we sent out the March newsletter, more than 700 opened the e-mail. That’s better than twice the average for similar government e-mails. Our first Bi-Weekly Report Thanks for opening our first-ever City Manager’s Bi-Weekly Report! The aim of this report is to give City of Fayetteville elected officials, employees and especially our citizens up-to-date information on what’s happening here at City Hall and citywide through our different departments. You may have noticed we are also now publishing our City Newsletter on a monthly basis. The Newsletters and the Bi-Weekly Reports can be found on the City Manager’s page of our website at fayetteville-ga.gov. From the homepage, you may also type “newsletter” or “bi-weekly” into the Search box. Be sure to sign up for City e-mail notifications by clicking the link on the bottom of the homepage, and you will

be notified when Bi-Weekly Reports, Newsletters and other important information is available. As you read through this Bi-Weekly Report, please note that these are the latest figures and statistics available at the time of publication. Due to varying reporting requirements, some numbers are not available as quickly after a reporting period ends. For example, monthly building permit numbers from our Community Development Department are available weekly, but certain monthly crime stats and emergency call data are not available for about two weeks or so after the end of a month. So in this edition, you will find January crime and emergency call information, but we plan to have the February numbers published in the March 19 Bi-Weekly Report.

Fayetteville shall be a city of innovation and opportunity that fosters a vibrant and welcoming community for all.

Downtown Development Fayetteville’s Downtown Redevelopment Plan, which was unveiled in January, continues to generate excitement amongst residents who have said for years they want to see a more vibrant, pedestrian-friendly downtown area. The City expects to close in early April on a nearly 10-acre tract of land, currently serving as the Fayette County Board of Education headquarters, that will serve as the location of a new Fayetteville City Hall, other offices and plenty of green space and recreational enhancements. To see the full plan, search for “downtown redevelopment” on fayetteville-ga.gov. CLICK IMAGE TO LEARN MORE The Fayetteville Downtown Redevelopment Plan map

When Fayette County voters approved the 2017 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, $8 million was purposed for upgrading the City of Fayetteville Wastewater Treatment Plant. We are now in the design phase of the engineering process with consultant Goodwyn Mills Cawood, Page 3

looking at more efficient and effective treatment options that will not only upgrade the plant but will also allow the city to better maintain the current five million gallons-a-day capacity. Construction is due to be completed by the end of 2019.

Community Development Several large residential construction projects continue to unfold in the City of Fayetteville, including the Pinewood Forest mixed-use community on the west side, the Heartis Senior Living facility along the Hwy. 54 West corridor, and Hearthside Living, another senior citizen community being built closer to the Historic Downtown District next to Hampton Inn. Six new building permits were issued in Pinewood Forest in February, and its new “Village Square” Preliminary Plat (shown at right) was approved unanimously during the Feb. 27 Fayetteville Planning & Zoning Commission meeting. Heartis Senior Living construction continues, and the faclity is expected to open this
