Fayetteville’s Church Street Park’s new playground reopened recently with a lot of brand-new equipment that will be enjoyed by kids and grown-ups alike. (Notice the new benches.) New picnic tables have also been installed in the picnic pavilion. These are big improvements, but there’s more to come. If you wonder what happened to the playground equipment that was removed, plans are being made to reuse it elsewhere in the city. Thanks to our Public Works Department for their hard work to make Church Street Park another great family destination!

New scissors debut at J. R. Crickets ribbon cutting Ribbon cutting ceremonies for decades in the City of Fayetteville have featured the giant oak scissors found in countless photographs and videos. That pair has officially been retired as a historical artifact. Starting with the late-August ribbon cutting ceremony at J. R. Crickets, the City is now using a golden pair of scissors contributed by City Councilman Rich Hoffman. Hoffman is also the volunteer repairman, who graciously repaired the oak scissors on occasion to keep them in continued service until now. We look forward to putting the J. R. Crickets, now under new ownership and management, celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony on August 26.
