FIRE DEPARTMENT ALAN JONES Events - Units attended the ribbon cutting event for the new City Hall & City Centre Park. Units provided EMS standby and FSE for the City Center Park grand opening. Incidents - On July 15 at approximately 10:15 a.m., units responded to a report of a fire in a commercial building (1831 North Highway 85) ,and upon arrival units found a dump truck had crashed through the front of the building and was resting 20 feet inside the building. No fire occurred, but major structural damage was present, and Clayton County Fire Department was called to assist units with shoring of the building so the removal of the dump truck could occur. The driver of the dump truck was transported to a nearby hospital. Projects - EMS First Responder License has been completed and renewed with the Georgia Department of Public Health. The bay door at Station 92 is out of service with a broken spring; a new one is on order. Daily cleaning and sanitizing of the self-contained breathing apparatus mask and regulators continues. Receiving quotes to clean the HVAC system and vents.
POLICE DEPARTMENT SCOTT GRAY ▶ Monday, July 12 - Chief Scott Gray attended the weekly staff meeting at City Hall. ▶ Tuesday, July 13 - Sergeant David Darnell attended instructional training, “Train the Trainer,” in Peachtree City. This program is designed to help our police officers deal with the stresses of our profession. ▶ Wednesday, July 14 - Officers participated in the new City Hall & City Center Park ribbon cutting ceremony. ▶ Thursday, July 15 - Lieutenant Jeff Towler attended TASER Instructor recertification. ▶ Friday, July 16 - The divisions’ weekly reports were reviewed. ▶ Saturday, July 17 - Departmental employees worked the grand opening of City Center Park. The Office of Professional Standards participated with a display for the general public.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BRIAN WISMER Economic Development: Met with the owner of a bottle shop business about prospects for opening a city location next year. Discussed a Meridian on the Square developer about alternate financing options. Downtown Development Authority/Main Street: Continued marketing and scheduling efforts for 2021 concerts; completed rescheduling and public notification of the Loverboy concert to October 16. Met with Bear/Fox staff regarding additional amphitheater show. Met with Danny England regarding architectural enhancement of the alleyway project. Completed the flag pole repair at the amphitheater.
PUBLIC SERVICES DEPT. CHRIS HINDMAN Public Works: Cleaned City Hall and Police Department; cut and maintained the City Cemetery, Stonewall Avenue from Tiger Trail to Bennett Street, West Lanier Avenue from Bennett Street to Tiger Trail, East Lanier Avenue from Jeff Davis Drive to Church Street, Lester Road, Grady Avenue, Bradford Square, fountain area, around the amphitheater, lot on Stonewall Avenue, Patriot Park, North Jeff Davis Drive, North Highway 85 between Georgia Avenue and Don Easterbrook Way, Ramah Road, South Glynn Street from Fisher Avenue to Bradley Drive, Lee Street, Commerce Drive, White Road, Church Street Park, Stonewall Avenue from Melissa Segars Way to Jeff Davis Drive, water tower, West Lanier Avenue from Grady Avenue to Tiger Trail, front of the old city hall, and the Kathi Avenue roundabout. Completed the trash run on Highway 85 North, repaired a pothole on Gwinnett Street, transported a stage to the new City Center Park, and cleaned the shop building. Sewer: Average daily flow treated was 2.14 million gallons per day; performed weekly maintenance at 26 lift station sites; maintained wastewater plant and remained in compliance of our permit requirements. Water: Average daily flow of 1.75 million gallons of system demand per day; repaired three water leaks; and maintained water plant and remained in compliance of our permit requirements.
