WEEKLY REPORT AUGUST 16-22, 2021

The Police Department was presented with a re-accreditation award from the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police (GACP) during the August 18 City Council meeting. GACP State Certification Coordinator Chuck Groover presented the award along with Peachtree City Police Chief Janet Moon, who is also the recently-elected GACP President. Fayetteville Police Chief Scott Gray was recently elected to serve as the GACP Fourth Vice President. PIO Ann Marie Burdett was recognized for her role as Accreditation Manager for the 2021 re-accreditation process. Burdett has since been promoted within the City of Fayetteville to the role of Director of Communications and Public Information. Police Officer David Cagle transitioned into the accreditation manager role during the final weeks of the 2021 reaccreditation process.
The City Manager was out of the office for the week. Terry Windley (pictured holding the plate) was congratulated for recently earning his Level 3 Code Enforcement Certification from the State of Georgia.
CITY CLERK’S OFFICE ANNE BARKSDALE
Meetings: Attended the Fayetteville/Indianola LeaderGov cohort monthly meeting. Attended the regularly-scheduled City Council meeting. Projects: Completed qualifying packets for the upcoming municipal elections. Began preparations for Georgia Cities Week in October. Scheduled the next Shred-It Day for October 9, 9 a.m. to noon. Completed the GovDeals online auction, which runs through September 2. Reported qualified candidates to the Georgia Campaign Finance Commission and to the Fayette County Elections Supervisor. Completed and sent ballot referendum for package sales of distilled spirits to the Fayette County Elections Supervisor.. Open Records Requests: 9

FIRE DEPARTMENT ALAN JONES Events - Conducted a Station 91 tour and Fire Safety Education for Arete Enrichment Home School group. Projects - Fire Chief Alan Jones attended the monthly LeaderGov cohort. Captain Woodworth attended a Colonial Pipeline web meeting along with Fayette County Department of Fire & Emergency Services. Shifts completed hazardous materials training and a walk-through at the water treatment plant. Deputy Chief Linda Black attended an informational meeting with Fayette County Department of Fire & Emergency Services Assistant Chief Folden and Peachtree City Fire Department Assistant Chief Baggett. Captain Collins continues working on a quote for AEDs for City Hall and City Center Park. Awaiting a date from the Purchasing Department for water stations to be installed at fire stations 92 and 93. Daily cleaning and sanitizing of the self-contained breathing apparatus mask and regulators continues.
POLICE DEPARTMENT SCOTT GRAY
▶ Monday, August 16 - Cadet Maitland and Cadet Williams started the Fulton County Police Academy. Interviews were held for the TFO position for the DEA. Detective George Boggs was selected for the unit. ▶ Tuesday, August 17 - Chief Scott Gray attended the swearing-in of Judge Rhonda Kreuziger for Superior Court Judge for the Griffin Judicial Circuit at the State Capitol. ▶ Wednesday, August 18 - All current RADAR/speed detection devices have been re-certified. The Office of Professional Standards completed three background checks for potential new candidates. ▶ Thursday, August 19 - Conditional offers were made to Ebony Brown and Bradford Young, employment pending fulfilling other requirements. The Chief and departmental employees attended the City Council meeting and received the State Accreditation Certificate.

HUMAN RESOURCES DEPT. NELLA COOPER Personnel: Continue to update ClearCompany with Appraisals metrics. Maintaining a case spreadsheet of potential pandemic cases involving City employees. Continuing to review and update various administrative policies for accuracy. Reviewing and updating proposed changes to the Personnel Manual. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BRIAN WISMER Economic Development: Presented resolution for package sales referendum at City Council meeting. Downtown Development Authority/Main Street: Continued marketing and logistics efforts for 2021 concerts. Coordinated last-minute rescheduling effort for Don Felder concert, now on September 24. Site visit with Office of Design architects to review the downtown alleyway proposal. Review of amphitheater design drawings and site visit to assess green room proposal. PUBLIC SERVICES DEPT. CHRIS HINDMAN Public Works: Cut and maintained Lanier Avenue West between Grady Avenue and Tiger Trail, Stonewall Avenue from Bennett Street to Tiger Trail, Courthouse Square area, Lane Brown Gazebo area, Holliday-Dorsey-Fife House, front of Old City Hall, Churchill Drive, Jimmie Mayfield Boulevard, Hood Avenue roundabout and sidewalks, Forrest Avenue, Church Street Park, Highway 85 North, Highway 314 medians, and North Jeff Davis Drive medians; completed the trash run in the parks and on the Courthouse Square, Highway 85 North, Beauregard Boulevard, and White Road; cut up fallen tree in Church Street Park and at the intersection of Helen Sams Parkway and South Jeff Davis Drive; cut down kudzu vine on Lauren Street; removed dead deer on Highway 314. Stormwater: Poured concrete for sidewalk on McIntosh Place Drive; repaired erosion and sealed pipe at 180 Stratford Way. Sewer: Average daily flow treated was 2.43 million gallons per day; performed weekly maintenance at 26 lift station sites; maintained wastewater plant and remained in compliance of our permit requirements. Water: Average daily flow of 1.46 million gallons of system demand per day; repaired three water leaks; and maintained water plant and remained in compliance of our permit requirements.
