SHREDDING & RECYCLING IN FAYETTEVILLE Saturday’s shredding and recycling event in the Fayetteville City Hall parking lot was a big success, as many residents brought their documents to be shredded and their glass to be recycled. The event, which is organized by the City Clerk’s Office, was originally scheduled to take place as part of the annual Georgia Cities Week celebration, April 19-25. Projects: Handled calls regarding City services, COVID-19, and regulations for businesses opening back up; attended 4/21 Georgia Municipal Association teleconference with Georgia Emergency Management Agency Director Homer Bryson regarding businesses reopening; prepared for 4/27 called City Council meeting; participated in the 4/25 Shredding & Recycling Day at City Hall. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY KELVIN JOINER Work orders: 24 new, 36 closed. Projects: Continuing to work on a list of technology needs for the new City Hall building; installed camera over Building Department’s parking area; hardware update; phone system; work order system; re-imaged and updated several desktops. Meetings: job interviews; reopening City buildings briefing; hosted online meeting with the Fayetteville Downtown Development Authority.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BRIAN WISMER Economic Development: Attended additional webinars on loans and financial assistance available to small businesses during COVID-19; provided multiple local businesses with info regarding financial assistance and reopening criteria; began prep for recommended amendments to Alcohol Ordinance; attended Fayette Chamber of Commerce virtual board meeting 4/23; attended Fayette County Development Authority virtual board meeting 4/23. Main Street: Held virtual Main Street Tourism Association board meeting 4/21; attended virtual Georgia Main Street directors meeting 4/23; amended the Main Street Events Calendar. Downtown Development Authority: n/a.

COVID-19 COMMUNITY DISCOURSE Residents took to social media sharing their own opinions after Governor Brian Kemp issued another executive order, this one allowing more businesses to open if they abide by certain stringent health and safety requirements. While some residents expressed support for the Governor’s action, many expressed concerns about opening additional businesses at this time. POLICE DEPARTMENT SCOTT GRAY Coronavirus response: ¡ The Police Department continues to practice social distancing. Some of our employees are working from home. ¡ Services are still being provided for those seeking reports or any other official business with the Police Department through Internet communication. ¡ Please make sure you are throwing your used masks and gloves into trash receptacles and not on the ground. We continue seeing increased littering in the area. ¡ We are seeing a new increase in domestic violence incidents. Remember to walk away and let cooler heads prevail before discussing topics again.

FIRE DEPARTMENT ALAN JONES Events: The department received a donation of surgical masks, gloves, and FireAide personal fire extinguishers from the Ronnie Thames Foundation and FireAide. The department also received medical gowns from the Peachtree City Fire Department. We continue to place weekly orders for personal protective equipment with several private vendors, and the department recently received 20 N95 masks. The State of Georgia’s cache is currently at a critically low level, and they will only fill emergency requests at this time. The EMS inspection by the Georgia Department of Public Health will be May 7.

Projects: Deputy Chief Linda Black attended various COVID-19 webinars throughout the week with officials from the Georgia Department of Public Health. Chief Black and Captain Josh Collins continue to work with our medical director Dr. Chris Edens, Fayette County and the State with up-to-date COVID-19 information. Chief Black attended the Region IV EMS Council webinar; Chief Jones attended a Clearwater Company meeting; Chief Jones participated in the planning meeting regarding reopening City buildings; personnel are daily cleaning and sanitizing self-contained breathing apparatus masks and regulators; Chief Jeff Gable continually updates the COVID-19 Incident Action Plan; new high-band base station radios have been installed in the three stations; personal protective vest delivered for employees; received a 55-gallon drum of disinfecting cleaning solutions for the Aeroclave machine..

PUBLIC SERVICES CHRIS HINDMAN Public Works: Cleaned City Hall and Police Department; cut and maintained Highway 314 medians, North Jeff Davis medians, Highway 85 North medians, the Highways 85 and 314 intersection, the fountain area on Meeting Place Drive, the sidewalk on East Lanier Avenue from Jeff Davis Drive to Church Street, Hood Avenue roundabout, East Lanier Avenue from Jeff Davis Drive to Knight Way, Kathi Avenue roundabout, Stonewall Avenue from Tiger Trail to Bennett Street, and the Lane Brown Gazebo area; cut up tree in the lot behind Office Depot; cleaned the Public Works shop area; performed maintenance on lawn mowers; repaired potholes at the intersection of Highway 85 North and Don Easterbrook Way. Stormwater: Repaired stormwater erosion at 169 Hunters Lane. Sewer: Average daily flow treated was 2.362 million gallons per day; performed weekly maintenance at 26 lift station sites; maintained wastewater plant and remained in compliance of our permit requirements. Water: Average daily flow of 1.481 million gallons of system demand; repaired five water leaks; performed maintenance on 19 water meters; maintained water plant and remained in compliance of our permit requirements. Utility Locates: 89

HUMAN RESOURCES NELLA COOPER

Personnel: Continuing with the implementation of the Performance Management and Performance Appraisals platform on ClearCompany; reviewed property and casualty renewal quotes; the main focus has been on COVID-19 and Federal and State requirements as it relates to City employees; continuing to participate in various COVID-19 webcasts in order to remain in compliance; maintaining spreadsheet to track potential City employee pandemic cases; requesting proper leave forms from personnel out of work due to COVID-19.
