The first month of January 2015 is almost in the rear-view mirror. The new year seems to come in so quickly and then passes before we know it. “Like sands through the hourglass so are the days of our lives.”

What kind of things in your life have you thought about repairing? The saying that if we keep doing the same things we will keep getting the same results is so true. New Year’s resolutions about personal improvement are rarely kept. A deeper consideration could be: “What can I do to make my church a more gracious place?” God has given each Christian gifts that are not so much for personal improvement, but are more for the blessing of the church. A good resolution before the month ends is: “Lord, use me to make our church a more gracious place.” Our year end giving was a record giving. Thank you church for your generosity. Because of your generosity, the First Baptist budget was able to end the year of 2014 in the black! May God continue to bless our church through the contributions of our members. Family concerns continue to be a problem - not only in our world but also in our church. The D6 Family Conference addresses the family needs of our life. It is an event to not put in pencil on your agenda, but to write it in ink. Matters will be talked about that could help our homes become the places where stronger disciples are shaped. Sign up and attend. If could be a life changer not only for parents but also for grandparents. Prayer is such a vital ingredient in our church. It is not a substitute for activity but it is an activity for which there is no substitute. Prayer warriors impact the world and impact situations. So many may be in the center of God’s will and are encountering threatening circumstances. Maybe God chooses not to change their situation but give strength to endure. That prayer could make a powerful difference to a person in need. The ENCOUNTERING GOD Prayer Conference is coming to our church on Friday, February 6. What could happen at that conference could make us better at our prayer times. Plan to show up. It may be a life changer for you and for somebody you will be praying for. Have a good two weeks. May God bless us as we finish January and move into February. Stay strong in the faith. There is a schemer who tempts, but we have a God who is stronger - “greater is He who is in you than he that is in the world.” I JOHN 4:4 KJV Your Pastor, Jerry Hebrews 10:24-25

NOTE the times on the POWER TEAM event have been adjusted to: Wednesday - Saturday at 6:30 PM, Sunday at 5:00PM. (See page 5 for how to help)
