FroM Your Pastor’s heart
The First Sunday in March was a great Sunday at First Baptist Church. What an awesome way to start off a month! The Power Team led us at the close of February with their feats of strength and decisions at the altar. Each night there were people saying yes to invitations for Christian commitment. This past weekend was also a special time as our students went to Camp Baldwin for DNOW. To see the rows of young people in church at the 11:00 service was a “wow” moment for me as pastor. My prayer is that they will continue to grow in the Lord and grow as a generation to be faithful to the church. Thank you Ryan and your workers for working so hard this past weekend. In the 8:30 service, we were blessed with the Alabama All-State Children’s Honor Choir. The 170-voice choir that included 13 of our own members, sang songs, quoted Scripture and gave us a Heaven on earth worship experience. Those were 4-6 graders from across the state, giving our church encouragement from a future generation. March 14 is the Walk for Life. It supports the Women’s Care Medical Center. Abortion is a sin problem that needs our encouragement to keep from happening. Every unborn is a person who is wanted and has a God-given purpose. Plan to walk with others or sponsor someone who is walking. FBC goal is to raise $7,500 for this worthy cause. My sermons in the coming weeks will focus on Jesus’ journey to the cross. He knew what awaited him in Jerusalem as He walked toward the crucifixion. This Sunday morning we look at the Transfiguration and next week at the Parable of the Pounds. Sunday night sermons will focus on Abraham and his journey of faith. Bring your Bible and let God speak to your heart. Many things are happening, but each event is designed for your personal walk with God. The questions from last week’s sermon is: “Who is Jesus to You?” I pray that you know Him as your Savior and spend some time with Him daily. May God bless each of you. Your Pastor, Jerry Matthew 16:24

MISSION: CUBES
Our very own missionaries, Ron & Jean Mitchell, are currently serving another 3 month tour in Brazil helping a local church to spread the good news of the Gospel. One of their primary means of doing this is using what is known as an EvangeCube. This tool has been ultra-successful in leading people to Christ in Brazil. Through some circumstances, a ministry in Brazil has 4,000 of these “CUBES” already in country that they are needing to sell. Normally with shipping costs and a 40% excise tax the “CUBES” would cost around $13 each. They are available for $6.70 through this ministry, so we are asking for everyone to donate at least one (1) for $7.00. We want to help Ron & Jean purchase as many of these “CUBES” as possible… all 4,000 is our goal. HOW CAN YOU HELP? You can donate the cost of one (1) or more of these “CUBES” by making out your check to First Baptist and simply writing CUBES on the bottom of your check. NOTE: You can go by the EvangeCube table in the Gathering Space beginning March 15 to see the “cubes” and may make a donation there or in the Church Office. Each “cube” is $7.00.

With: Dr. David Platt, author of the books, “Radical” and “Counter Culture”
The culture around us is constantly changing, and successive changes are often accompanied by significant challenges. So how does the call of Christ compel us to respond to challenges like the rapid rise of so-called same-sex marriage, the increasing acceptance of homosexuality, human trafficking and sex slavery, pornography and a world where babies are aborted and widows are abandoned? Secret Church will help us explore the biblical foundations for answers to these questions so we can better engage our culture with a firm grip on the Gospel and a passion for God’s glory in the world. SIGN UP & PAY ONLINE at www.fbcfairhope.org or with LaSha Powell in the Church Office 928-8685 or lpowell@fbcfairhope.org. COST: $10 until April 10 , $ 25 after April 10
