In 1965, my mom, Katreen Korte, having worked a number of years for various brokers, decided to open her own company. She leased a small office at 712 W. Broad, where we still have our world headquarters today. At the time, C&P refused to send her the phone bill, since she was a woman. The bill was addressed to my dad, George Korte. Mom’s real estate business spanned everything from selling land and lots to selling and leasing commercial buildings and residential property. She worked until she was well into her 80s and made many good and lasting friends. She was active in the city of Falls Church, serving on the first Streetscape Committee, and she was active in the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors for many years. She was an active member of the Greater Falls Church Chamber and a faithful attendant of their annual Gala. Today, there are two of us in the office, Mostafa Shah, and Treena Rinaldi. We follow the same path as my mom, with the varied services that small independent firms provide. We have helped sellers and purchasers of homes all over our area, from Alexandria to Woodbridge to Lucketts. You will see our signs for lease and sale on commercial properties all over the city. We are still at 712 W. Broad, and feel so fortunate to be in such a great spot, right on Broad, and await with anticipation all the many new developments that are being planned in the City.
