Janu Janu is a story about a boy who want to bring his family back after it mysteriously disappeared during the attack of his tribe. I’m a big fun of Fumito Ueda works, I love the Studio Ghibli-like style of his videogames and the phylosophy behind his production. Inspired by that I’m creating a concept for a story based on the ancient history of my land, the Sardinia island, mixed with folklore and local myths.

Style exploration On the left a Fumito Ueda’s like portrait of Janu, on the right another one with aTequilaWorks RiME like design.

Janu outfit design Outfit exploration, based on a nuragic bronze statue of a tribe chief.

Magic bell Design exploration for the special object of Janu. The hilt is inspired by a nuragic bronze sword.

Mamottu Mispronunciation of Mamuthones, a mask of Sardinian Carnival from Mamoiada, Nuoro.

Makeddo A mix between the Musca Machedda, a sardian myth about a nightmarish devourer fly that can wipe out whole villages and the four-eyed nuragic god warrior. That's the main threat for Janu.

Mazzoudu
