Programming the Perpetual Unknown IAAC Studio “Staging an electronic environment and a dynamic in which elements are set in motion in an automated performance, Programming the Perpetual Unknown is a game with open interpretations.
The movement is perpetual and the outcome is unknown, all governed by a protocol of actions in which the speed of revolution of a fan in a physical environment could be affected by the density of a built settlement drawn in a digital space.

Architectural Fiction
Fab Lab Parade 9th of Decembre
Group 4 Nicolas Saade Maria Fechner Tarek Elkassouf
Why don’t we celebrate garbage? Project description Fablab parade engages the local community to take part in the reusing process. Shredder machine, 3D printing machine, extrusion machine, injection machine, compression machine, laser cutters, milling machine, and others are placed on the moving platform. The parade is a “happening”, which makes the society more aware of the waste management issues and shows the possibility to create new objects from the old ones. People attracted by the parade can bring plastic, wood, metal and textile waste to the storage points and take part in the reusing procedure. The process involves creating different scale furniture and other public space elements with the fab lab machines. Some of them are used to reshape the public space and others can replace broken furniture for personal usage. The more the parade gets popular, the more the public takes over the private. It is an opportunity to learn, celebrate and have a positive contribution in the public space. Domain Scale: 150 m x 150 m Period: 16 hours Project variable Moving fablab platform 6m x 6 Parade participants/makers 200 People attracted by the parade x depends on the location of the parade Portable storage containers 5 Garbage containers x changes according to the time urban furniture x changes according to the stage of the parade cars x changes according to the location of the parade TV vans 3 Protocol 1. 14 Sky Park District
Sky Park District is an urban intervention in Mexico City. The project connects Secundo Piso to the new urban area. Designed green connections and public spaces are placed around, above and under intersections inspired by analyzing the geometry of Brasilia’s urban structure.
The high-speed public transportation loop is the district and pedestrian paths on the three levels allows citizens to enjoy the lively neighbourhood. Sky Park District creates mixed programs within the walkable distances. Ground park areas, green roofs, and sky paths increase the life quality in highly polluted Mexico City.

Digital fabricated brick
Digital fabricated brick The digital fabricated structural brick is an example of creating an object by using the structural skin as a mould. The form follows the stress lines, which shape geometry of the brick. Laser cutting gave the designers an opportunity to experiment with the folding techique. By using this method they developed the structural skin, which was a base for the mould. The casting process started from creating the negative, which became the reusable mould. The six bricks prototypes and the mould, which is ready fore reuse, are the final results of the digital fabrication experiment.

Vertical vineyard workshop
Vertical Vineyard Workshop Project of the Master in Advanced Architecture of IAAC developed in collaboration with the Architectural Association School of Architecture Through a collaborative project including both design and fabrication, a five meter tall structure was developed. It hosts grape vines and a closed loop hydroponic system, and consists of modular components that can be added to expand the vertical system. The site location of this project is the Valldaura Labs of the Institute of Advanced Architecture, Catalonia. The aspect of growing and harvesting grapes in the vertical as well as more urban con text, drove this project and inspires further development of the concept of an urban vineyard.

The circular shape is a symbol of equality and fairness. the students
It is used as a basis to create the school and adapt it to the needs of students
In order to achieve sustainability, all materials used in the building are sourced locally.

Find your connection
Find your connection Representing data by using Arduino and Processing to create a connection between the data input and output, producing a physical representation. In the times when people are constantly on the go, the connections between them are developing, changing, becoming more virtual. A crucial element in the the project is the connection between two people who are physically present in the room. The interaction with the installation produces the shortest path of light in three symbolic colours. Input: Pressure sensor as a switch Output: Light from Neopixels projected through acrylic The project is assembled by creating an LED Matrix with Neopixels stripes, eight stripes of eight LEDS, wired in a series. Acrylic columns are glued on top of each LED in the way the light is projected vertically along the z-axis. The paths of light are calculated so that they take the shortest route through the matrix. The 16 pressure sensors were made by using a piece of velostat and two strips of copper tape placed on either side of the velostat. Each pressure sensor represents one of the 16 personalities.

Two chairs
“Two Chairs” // “Dwa Krzesła” “Two chairs” was a public space art installation. Picked locations were the areas in the center of Poznań which could function as meeting places. In these points we placed recycled chairs, painted red. The instalation created local community spaces where the citizens can sit and talk. Red chairs point out how can we make small changes to improve the quality of local public space.
