The old world and the new world in one place A small town of southern France during WWII, a place in Old Havana and a mexican fiesta, all recreated on the streets of Colonia, Uruguay. Yellow New York Cabs running on Fitfh Avenue, on downtown Buenos Aires. A german gas station on a highway or an italian town recreated near Montevideo. A beer party shot on a beautiful palm beach in Venezuela. A colombian coffee plantation shoot in Costa Rica. You think you see a Chiquita cargo truck unloading at the Port of Marseille, but its the Port of Montevideo. A couple of friends having their Nestle cereal with the Swiss Alps as a background, filmed in Bariloche, Argentina.

These are some examples of what you can accomplish throughout the year under the warm sun of the Metropolis Films Territory.

Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel is a monthly magazinestyle program aired by HBO exploring major issues and personalities in the world of sports. It has been honored with 20 Emmy Awards and the 2006 DuPont-Columbia University Award for broadcast journalism. On October 13, 1972, a chartered flight carrying a rugby team from Uruguay to Chile crashed in the Andes mountains, leaving the survivors trapped on an unreachable, snow-covered cliff. Stranded for 72 days, they endured freezing nights, a devastating avalanche and the threat of starvation by consuming the only food available to them: the flesh of dead teammates. Along with Gumbel and Producer Tim Walker of HBO, Metropolis Films organized and produced a series of interviews on location in Uruguay with several members of the team as they narrate their heroic, widely discussed story and talk about life since the tragedy.

puerto rico WHEN TO GO Puerto Rico’s pleasant tropical climate is virtually seasonless, (the average year-round temperature 28° C), though temperatures are slightly higher from June to September.

GETTING THERE San Juan’s International Airport is serviced by almost thirty US and international airlines. American Airlines center there all their operations for the Caribbean.

WHY SHOOT THERE

WHAT TO EAT & DRINK

Due to its condition of an associated state to the US, Puerto Rico combines all the magic of a Caribbean island with a highly advanced technical and logistical structure.

Puerto Rico has commanded a growing reputation as the culinary hot spot of the Caribbean. Worldrenowned chefs at vanguard restaurants prepare dynamic Nuevo Latino cuisine – a twist on traditional criollo cooking, with an emphasis

on fish, fruits, tubers and dark rum sauces or marinades with tropical ingredients. Run (ron) is the national drink, as Puerto Rico is the world’s largest producer of this sugarcanebased liquor. You can even visit the Bacardi distillery plant.

PREFERED LOCATIONS TO SHOOT BY INTERNATIONAL DIRECTORS Many US series were shot in Old San Juan. Steven Spielberg used its beaches and seas to shoot the movie Amistad. Classic Spanish and Colonial architecture were preferred locations for the film Havana Nights.
