Honduras wins AFECAVOL UͲ21 Bronze SAN SALVADOR, September 3, 2015.Ͳ Honduras prevailed over Belize 3Ͳ0 (25Ͳ21, 28Ͳ26, 25Ͳ20) and with this result they won the bronze medal of the Men’s UͲ21 XVI Central American Championship. Honduras finishes the event with 4Ͳ2 winͲloss record and 18 points, for third place. Belize leaves winͲless 0Ͳ6 and 2 points. Honduras and Belize started set one with the same rhythm, keeping the scores close; errors and points went back and forth until Honduras held a three point advantage 16Ͳ13 and went on winning the set 25Ͳ21. Belize held advantage at the beginning of set two 10Ͳ8 scoring thru blocking and defense errors from Honduras. The set had the same level, none was dominant but Belize managed to score more with strong spikes tying on several occasions, with longer rallies; Honduras won the set 28Ͳ26. Honduras had more errors and Honduras prevailed 25Ͳ20. Honduras was more effective in spikes (39Ͳ27), blocks (5Ͳ1) and aces (2Ͳ1). Honduras had more errors than Belize (38Ͳ32). Costa Rica leaves with 5Ͳ1 winͲloss record and 23 points; Nicaragua with 2Ͳ4 record and 13 points. The first set was even; Nicaragua lost focus in receiving and blocking, allowing Costa Rica to have advantage 15Ͳ10. From there on Costa Rica played more effectively in serves and at the net to close with comfortable advantage 25Ͳ17. In the second set, Costa Rica continued with strength, with a huge advantage 15Ͳ5. Set two went to Costa Rica 25Ͳ14. Nicaragua had more energy in the third set, keeping the score close 10Ͳ10, they were up at the second technical timeͲout 16Ͳ14. Nicaragua was persistent and Costa Rica tied up to 20Ͳ20. The closing was intense, the score extended to 29Ͳ 27 for Costa Rica. Costa Rica’s blocking (12Ͳ3) was crucial for their win; they also held advantage in kills (34Ͳ32) and aces (4Ͳ1). Costa Rica scored on 29 errors from Nicaragua and committed 22. Costa Rica’s offensive over the net was led by Walter Serrano with 13 points, Joaquin Arguedas and Kevin Hidalgo with 11 points apiece. El primer set fue un duelo parejo en su inicio; Nicaragua se descontroló en su recepción y bloqueo, permitiendo que Costa Rica lo superara 15Ͳ10. Guatemala won the gold medal undefeated, with 6Ͳ0 record and 28 points. El Salvador finished with 1Ͳ5 record and 9 points. Guatemala started off with good tactics while El Salvador, despite their efforts to receive and defend, was lacked organization. In the first set, Guatemala reached both technical timeͲouts on top 8Ͳ3 and 16Ͳ9. Guatemala’s blocking didn’t allow that El Salvador’s to score and they won 25Ͳ 12. El Salvador had more opportunities to evade Guatemala’s blocking and kept the score up to the half of set two. Guatemala never seized in their kills and held great advantage with El Salvador’s errors in defense and spikes; Guatemala won 25Ͳ14. The tactical, organized and strong performance continues in the last set and won 25Ͳ13. Guatemala held advantage in every category, spikes 45Ͳ24, blocks 9Ͳ5 and aces 5Ͳ1. In erros, Guatemala had 9 and El Salvador had 16. Outside Hitter Wagner Chacon of Guatemala led all scorers with 20 points, 15 in attacks and 5 in blocking.
