FEDERAL-MOGUL MOTORPARTS PRESENT AT EQUIP AUTO 2015 Federal-Mogul Motorparts is attending this year’s edition of the Equip Auto fair to highlight the company’s exciting service, product and commercial news. The show, which takes place between the 13th and 17th of October in Paris, is one of the key dates in the aftermarket calendar.

The company’s stand, located in the Hall 5 stand 80, will be split up into different sections; • BRAKING • ENGINE AND SEALING • GARAGE CORNER A garage corner is set up to present FederalMogul’s new ‘F-M for Me’ programme. In the dedicated ‘Garage corner’, customers will be able to find out the benefits of that programme. They can meet the specialised team who will help them to manage their stock, analyse their business and offer technical

support in order to grow their turnover. Also in that garage corner will be a ‘brake pad change’ competition where installers will have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills against the clock. The scores will be recorded and at the end of the fair, the winner will win a Sony flat screen TV. On the engine and sealing island the company will introduce a new gasket technology: Payen CORIUSEAL™ and CORIUSIM™. On the service island visitors will see the impressive ignition technology from BERU® and Champion®.

With the acquisition of Honeywell Friction in 2014, Federal-Mogul Motorparts enhances its comprehensive braking offering by integrating the OE brand JURID® into its portfolio. This year JURID is celebrating its 100th anniversary and a series of promotional activities are organised throughout EMEA to celebrate this premium braking brand. FERODO BRAND EXPANDS ITS PRODUCT RANGE IN THE AFTERMARKET ®

2015 will be remembered as another milestone in the history of Ferodo®, with two significant projects carried out during the year, adding new dimensions to the famous Federal-Mogul Motorparts braking brand.

Throughout 2015 Ferodo has been adding new product lines to an already comprehensive portfolio, increasing its capacity to not only cover friction parts but all braking requirements. By the end of the year, the number of Ferodo products available will ensure the brand is a true ‘one-stop-shop’ for aftermarket customers, with a full range of original equipment, quality brake replacement products available from one single, trusted supplier.

The expansion began with the addition in March of more than 500 new hydraulic products, including brake and clutch master cylinders, clutch slave cylinders, brake hoses, wheel cylinders and pressure valve regulators. In May, handbrake and clutch cables were added to the portfolio and in July a complete range of Ferodo brake calipers was introduced. By November 2015, a comprehensive range of brake drums will be available, completing a programme that sees a total of more than 2,600 new part numbers added to the product range.

Research carried out by US authorities has highlighted that copper deposits coming from traditional brake pads are suspected of impacting oxygen levels in fresh water. Copper currently comprises around 20% of the friction material in brake pads, US legislation dictates and nearly all of the European vehicle manufacturers do require that this figure must be reduced to less than 5% by 2021 and to just 0.5% by 2025. ECO-FRICTION is Ferodo’s solution to the issues arising from the use of copper, offering pioneering, ecological brake pads with no compromise on performance or safety.

IN ADDITION TO THE INTRODUCTION OF A WIDE RANGE OF NEW PRODUCT LINES, FERODO IS BRINGING ITS LATEST INNOVATIVE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT TECHNOLOGY INTO THE AFTERMARKET WITH THE LAUNCH OF THE ECO-FRICTION® RANGE OF LOW OR ZERO COPPER BRAKE PADS.

A number of vehicle manufacturers are introducing low or zero-copper brake pads ahead of the future legislation changes and the ECO-FRICTION range has allowed Ferodo to take advantage of this opportunity. ECO-FRICTION brake pads have been fitted as OE on Mercedez-Benz C-Class cars since 2014 and will also feature on the Audi A4 application which is launched in September 2015. September 2015 is also the timing for the release of ECO-FRICTION brake pads into the aftermarket. The rolling introduction will see the initial launch cover 90% of the Ferodo brake pad range. Further to this, 95% range coverage is expected by the beginning of 2016.

ECO-FRICTION® brake pads have been OE fitment on Mercedez-Benz C-Class cars since 2014 and will also feature on the Audi applications, which is launched in September 2015.

Following the outstanding success of its 2014 winter promotional campaign, ‘Enter the Legend’, Federal-Mogul Motorparts ignition brand, BERU, is excited to launch its new seasonal sales initiative for winter 2015: ‘Live the Legend’, which includes once again the chance to attend the prestigious Mille Miglia classic car rally as BERU’s VIP guests. New test centre in Belgium

In quarter two, Federal-Mogul Motorparts celebrated the opening of its new test centre for sealing, engine, filters and chassis components in Kontich, Belgium. This new facility is the latest investment by the Aftermarket supplier and demonstrates its dedication to providing high-quality products to its customers. The laboratory supports the company’s global test facilities, undertaking engineering, product validation, quality control and competitive benchmarking. This will provide more than 5,000 additional test hours per annum, enabling its sealing, engine, filters and chassis component designs to be tested to the highest standards.

Validation trials make sure that new products meet Federal-Mogul’s high-quality standards while the laboratory’s test equipment enables the warranty team to analyse parts in the field. Competitive testing assures that Federal-Mogul Motorparts continues to develop market leading products.

Can you describe how your Classic Park Company was founded? Sander van Dijke: Classic cars is a family passion Even as a child I went to classic car shows and events with my father and brother, and I was always impressed by the mechanics and the old models on show. We were so passionate about them that, in 2009, we decided to start a new adventure and realise our dream. Classic Park was born in 2010 and we now have 14 employees working full time in our new location in Boxtel, the Netherlands. Each year, we continue to grow and we organise regular events for customers who come from all over Europe.

How do you find classic cars? Sander van Dijke: There are two main ways of collecting classic cars. Car lovers like to rebuild

classic cars as a hobby. Once they’ve completed a project, they sell their car. So we can benefit from good quality cars, but of course we also double check each car’s condition before we sell it. We also take part in a lot of classic car shows and events, and we find really good classic cars to buy here too.

What are your selection criteria? Sander van Dijke: When we buy a classic car, we look at different aspects, such as the condition of the bodywork, the engine, the seats, how rare the car is, etc. Two craftsmen work full time for us just to repair and improve the quality of these cars. Quality and passion are our company’s key values.

Do you work with Champion or Ferodo products? Sander van Dijke: Champion and Ferodo products have long been part of the automotive market and, historically, were fitted to classic cars. We continue to fit Champion because it offers innovative and high quality spark plugs that optimize vehicle performance and moreover, Champion is good value for money.
