CASA RASSAT IN AOSTA AOSTA - ITALY
Genre | Master degree thesis Year| 2016 Topic | Restauration and reuse Mode| Individual
Casa Rassat is an abandoned and degraded building located in the north eastern sector of the city of Aosta and it faces the archaeological site of the Roman Theatre. It is an interesting witness of an intricate urban fabric which has been demolished from the twenties of the twentieth century to rid the Roman monument, according to the fascist propaganda. These works have generated an urban void, and today the area of the Roman Theatre is a confined place and looks unattractive. The choice to design a hostel for young people aims to patch up the dialogue between the urban fabric and the archaeological area, attracting a large target of population and becoming a new meeting point within the city. As a matter of fact, the project is characterized by a dynamic and permeable ground floor opened to both clients and external users and the building hosts services and functions such as an area dedicated to exhibitions and a cafĂŠteria which also support the visit to the Roman Theatre area.

PALAZZO DEL LAVORO TURIN - ITALY
Genre | Restoration and renovation Year| 2015- 2016 Topic | Urban regeneration and
reuse of abandoned building. Shopping Mall project. Mode| Teamwork The work has been characterized by the restauration and the exploitation of the 20th century architecture whose protection often introduces critical issues despite its great historical and architectural value. In particular, along the Po river in Turin there are a lot of these historical buildings which are extremely important from an architectural and cultural point of view. They are placed between the park and the river and they are really close to the city centre: that is the reason why they also define the axis as fa as beauty, pleasure and relax are concerned. Therefore, this area represents an urban complex project that aims at connecting the important museums and cultural institutions placed in the landscape with the urban system, by creating a single territorial identity. The reuse project for Palazzo del Lavoro embodies the last part of an urban and didactic story along the axis and, in spite of its commercial function, it keeps a cultural character that is different from the shopping centres nearby.

Genre | Restoration and renovation Year| 2015 Topic | urban regeneration and
refunctionalization abandoned building Mode| teamwork For the social and tourist enhancement of the town of Sant’Abrogio, it has been decided to develop a multifunctional centre in the former Maglificio Bosio factory. The new centre of attraction includes: a nursery school, a gym, a spa, some temporary residences, a Bed&Breakfast, a little museum of “La Sacra di San Michele”, a shop and a restaurant related to San Michele brewery which has been moved in the adjacent block. Everything is rationally divided by three courtyards which are organized with green spaces and pedestrian paths. They also include an open-air cinema, a car park and outdoor bar that make the area more usable, always respecting the historical building. The building is part of an urban-scale project that wants to connect the city and the abbey by reorganizing and enhancing the paths in the town centre, with a particular focus on the public meeting areas.

PARCO MICHELOTTI TURIN - ITALY
Genre | Restoration and renovation Year| 2014-2015 Topic | urban regeneration Mode| teamwork The design of the masterplan focuses on three main levels of action: permeability, services and organization of the green areas. First of all, the aim of the project is to create some new connection axes between Parco Michelotti and the street behind it, Corso Casale, taking advantage of the already existing entraces on the ground floors of the buildings, which are considered in order to increase the permeability and the attractiveness of the park. Secondly, taking as reference the Hackesche Markt district in Berlin, the design extends the concept of permeability in a horizontal direction to connect the adjacent courtyards with each other. From this point of view, the aim to reopen the premises on the ground floors and to insert new compatible uses acquires greater value. Finally, according to the user needs, it was decided to reorganize the park as far as paths are concerned, dividing the bike path from the pedestrian one, and improving the services through the design of the abandoned spaces.

CASTELLO DI RIVARA
RIVARA CANAVESE (TO) ITALY Genre | Restoration Year| 2014-2015 Topic | project for a cultural exhibition centre
Mode| teamwork The Castello di Rivara, in his intriguing cultural complexity, has been a fertile field of study, where the possibility of applying a methodology of investigation and design to a real case has been enriched by many vocations and latent signs that this place holds. After the historical research, the architectural surveys and the mapping of materials and degradation for an assigned portion of the building, the goal was to develop an integrated project on the site of the castle, the park and their context in order to increase the cultural value.

AREA EX-AVIO (LINGOTTO DISTRICT) TURIN - ITALY Genre | New building Year| 2013 Topic | socialhousing project Mode| teamwork The goal is to realize a social housing building in the Lingotto district of Turin, in the area next to the new Region Piemonte skyscraper designed by Fuksas. The aim is to search for an answer to social and economic conditions through a project that can fit into the existing system of relations and which is able to reprocess and reinterpret it according to the needs of both users and city, by placing itself in urban areas in response to the relationship between function and context. The request is to design a building whose primary functional purpose is the residence addressed to a plurality of users who can be small families, foreign workers, couples, singles. Moreover, it considers very important the integrated presence of other service common areas, related to the houses but belonging to both the building and the city. It is from these considerations that the project has developed, pursuing a difficult balance between the search for a specific identity and the awareness of being part of a larger reality. Therefore, the project does not limit itself to achieve the given program, but it intends to develop the ability of the intervention to articulate the urban space which is of benefit to the city.
