Srondol Local Market has a modular building concept, makes the building cost more efficient and sustainable. Though using a modular concept, each building has its own unique shape to characterized the tenant category such as f&b, book store, fashion, handycraft, etc. The combination of classic materials such as concrete and glass for the retail building, combined with natural material such as wood, stone and green element for landscape area, will give a modern contemporary impression on side of nature.

The Madukuro marketplace is located in Semarang, Central Java . The Madukuro is a community marketplace with modular units design to create an elegant, food and culture place, providing a unique experience for visitors and local residents. This brings together the economic, ecological, cultural, and social aspects of sustainability together. Hopefully, by providing the setting for a continuous interaction of people through trade and social events, The Madukuro can contribute to the future economical, social, environmental and cultural sustainable development of the area. The architectural concept is developed through the use of environmentally friendly green facade which planned for self gardening, represents an opportunity for the inhabitants to produce fresh food independently. The second skin of facade was designed as a combination of vertical aluminum louvers. The facade is a bespoke hanging garden formed from container with hollow structure, attached to the steel profile structure. Covered with this unique ‘vertical’ garden, The Madukuro provides a prototype for brownfield development that offers dense, adaptable, urban living. Black color dominates the façade, while the part uses mostly monochrome colors to enhance the different colors and textures of the plant.

The clients then aims to have a indekost and airbnb room along with mid courtyard for the occupants and commercial facilty. The program of the project is distributed in 3 building, each with 4-stories; and one basement for parking area. This project has 162 rooms, consist of 3 types of rooms. The first type of room is supposed to be an airbnb room, while the others two are supposedly rented for students indekost. The security and safety are first concerned for the occupants. At the access ground floor of the front building, it contains retail area, such as cafe, laundryshop and barbershop. Then at its first floor, it contains a co-working space and airbnb rooms. The airbnb rooms is also available on its second and third floor. The others two building is located at the backside of the site, making it more privacy for the occupants as it is function as a living space. Regular boarding room with two types of room is located in these two building. Another idea from the client is placing an intimate mid courtyard between these two building. This mid courtyard is supposedly only accesible for the occupants of airbnb & boarding house, but also visible for cafe guest to leisurely enjoy the views. This site, located faces west, is becoming the main aspect of the project as a design strategies as it is needed to control the amount of sunlight that is admitted into a building. West facade is oriented diagonally to obstruct views from the street while permitting air and indirect sunlight to enter the building. Plants spill from the porous facade, emphasizing the exposed concrete and brick material. The front facade at the ground floor is built with a glass, giving it a maximize transparency for its commercial function. While the facade for the others two building, is simply composed of a vertical brick wall that is applied on a glass and concrete wall to giving it an accent. Moreover, the interior of this building use wood and concrete material.

One Batam Mall consists of 5 floors of a building and 3 basement floors, built on an area of 4.5 hectares. One Batam Mall will be completed with other commercial facilities, hotels, offices and apartments for future construction. With the concepts of lifestyle, urban and family, This project includes an old building re-design and a new construction building. One Batam Mall has a choice of recreational shopping activities and local creative works of art display. Creative arts and local activities are focused on old building that is redesigned, while shopping and other various entertainment activities are focused on new costructed buildings. One Batam Mall prioritizes the concept of the “three in one” space program, which is shopping mall, alfresco, marketplace. Facade One Batam Mall on the side of Jl. Raja H. Fisabilillah has a modern style by combining aluminum composite panel, glass and led screen materials. Glass material is used on the corners of buildings to give the impression of openness. Signboards from the storefront are placed on the glass area, added with the lighting. Aluminum composite panel with a combination of two colors which is dark and light grey, are arranged vertically. The combination of aluminum composite panel and glass facade is arranged into several fragments. Some of these fragments are installed back and forth horizontally, to give the effect of ‘depthness’ on the side of the face. Led screen with a large size is placed in the middle of the entrance area. Lighting on the led screen can emphasize the entrance area of the building to visitors.

Located in Singkawang, West Kalimantan, Pasar Turi & Beringin is a traditional markets that sell various groceries such us vegetables, fruit, poultry, meat, fish and also clothing. Until these days, Pasar Turi & Beringin is visited by the locals and people outside Singkawang. The large numbers of sellers, both legal and illegal markets dominate the streetscape and are vital to the local economy. The downside of this density of commercial street business creates the dirty, unhygienic environment and the decay of the public space. The design will have to serve as an example on how to improve the practical aspects of the market but leaving the existing social economic structures intact, while integrating the market with tourism programs in the city of Singkawang. The design combine indigenous techniques for shelter and sun shading the accountability of its residence and innovative low-maintenance materials. In this way, we create an efficient and pragmatic icon for the next generation market which serves as a catalyst for improvement. The shape of the canopy refers to nature, providing shade and shelter for sellers and buyers. The design focused on material used for the roof canopy, which uses red bricks and rusty iron; emphasizing locally produced materials (red brick of Singkawang). Singkawang local bricks contain iron oxide, giving different rust tones in red-orange-orange-red; and kaolinite, giving it a soft, furry white tone with a hard texture. This kaolin substance causes its unique, strong, and unique characteristics, compared to other bricks in Indonesia.

Arengka Marketplace is a mixed-used low rise building project. The program of the building is distributed in 3 levels and one semi-basement. At the access ground floor and first floor, it contains F&B, retail and midplaza. Semi-basement is made up for parking area, while the top floor, it contains of 3-stars hotel. The proposed material used in this building is red bricks and steel. To further express the mechanical beauty, a couple row of pitched roof with the steel structure is exposed on the exterior. The material is also focused on the used of red bricks; emphasizing locally produced materials in West Kalimantan. The main concept of this building is focused on mid plaza as the focal point and main attraction of the building. The mid plaza is made then as an alfresco. Alfresco is designed as an outdoor hangout place for fun as well as a meeting point. The alfresco is filled by food stalls that provide a variety of culinary and coffee shop. Some of the retail in the ground floor is made connected to the alfresco area. Alfresco area is covered by folded roof, providing sun shade and rain protection. The folded roof reveals the main structure as possible as it can, so people are still able to read the structural logic and mechanical beauty of the architecture.

Singkawang Masjid Agung is one of the oldest mosques in the Province of West Kalimantan, Indonesia, precisely in the city of Singkawang and becoming the pride of the Muslim community in Singkawang. These are several other buildings in Masjid Agung complex area that function as schools, multi-purpose buildings, etc. In 2017, Masjid Agung landscape re-design is one of the proposed programs by Singkawang Elected Mayor, Tjhai Chui Mie. The mosque’s landscape redesign is then expected to support activities within the mosque complex, especially in religious events, since Islam is the majority religion in Indonesia. Singkawang Masjid Agung is located in the hook, make it is accessible from the corner for the pedestrian path. This entrance is directly connected to the landscaped outdoor area. The landscaped outdoor area can house a large number of people and also offers a haven of tranquillity. The concept of this outdoor area is the combination of stamp concrete material and the element of water and vegetation. Stamp concrete is combined with slope in the form of wedges filled with soil and deep enough to contain vegetation and tree. The patterns of stamp concrete follows the direction of qibla. Furthermore, pond with the fountains, functions as an water feature, foster the overall sense of calm and concentration. Palm tree right round the pond provide ample shade. The pond and water fountain is visible from the vehicle lane, as it is laid beside the car lane. The paved area and pond are divided by hallway that is directly connected to the pedestrian path, make it also easily accessible for the prayers. This hallway is leading to the main entrance of the mosque.
