DESIGN CONCEPT: FA M I LY
Aside from his blood-related family, Justin believes that his restaurant team is also his family, second family. He enjoys guiding and teaching them and loves to share heart-to heart thoughts about their culinary passion. As a family is closely associated with warmth and love , this space aims to provide that particular ambience in the working space. To support this concept, the style chosen is Scandinavian Style.
Wood gives a sense of warmth and thus, different kinds and textures are harmonized into the space in order to achieve this. Being a family also means being transparent to each other. That is why, partitions are made of glass and an open-concept is applied into the space. Lounge areas and meeting rooms are also designed to spark collaboration and communication anywhere in the office.

OVERVIEW
As Covid-19 has forced children all around the world to adapt to sudden changes in their life for a prolonged period of time, their mental health might be affected negatively. This exhibition aims to contribute in supporting child’s mental health as they go back to school during these uncertain times. Adapted from L. Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, children can travel their way through the yellow brick road to reach their final destination, the Emerald City. Along the journey, children would be engaged in activities that would help them to express their feelings, train their mind to focus on positive thoughts, practice their empathy and also assist them in reconnecting with the outside world while balancing physical and online activities at the same time. All these zone activities would hopefully aid them to return to school safely.

ZONE 1: FOREST
Children will meet Cowardly Lion in this zone. The lion is a coward and he is afraid to express his feelings. The children are encouraged to express their feelings to the lion so that the lion would be willing to share his feelings and open up to the children. In this zone, the children can express their feelings that day by making an expression face with the leaves, twigs and acorns provided in the tree stump. They can paste the leaves and twigs on a paper at the round pedestals surrounding the tree stump.
INTRODUCTION: FLIPPED HOUSE Dorothy came out of her house and was surprised to know that she is transported to the Magical Land of Oz after a storm. She then embarked on a journey along the Land of Oz. Dorothy invites the children to join her on the journey together.
Z O N E 3 : S T E A M P U N K FA C T O RY
Children will meet Tinman in this zone. Tinman cannot move his body because his body parts are rusty. Children would have to complete the gear puzzle on the screen so that the piping would work and oil can come out of the pipe. The oil would then allow Tinman to be able to move again. From this activity, children are encouraged to practice their empathy by putting themselves on Tinman’s position.
ZONE 2: RICE FIELD Children will meet Scarecrow in this zone. Scarecrow has no brain and so, the children would have to write a positive message for Scarecrow so he would not feel down. Children can take the colored papers hung on the wall and write down positive messages for both Scarecrow and themselves. After that, they can put the paper with the positive thoughts inside the clear pumpkins. Children can go up the stairs and take a photo with the pumpkin tree and also look out to the windmill’s balcony.
ZONE 4: EMERALD CITY
Finally, children would be transported from the to Emerald City through the hot air balloon transition area. In the last zone, they would have the chance to reconnect with the outside world. The smaller TV stations are touch screens and they can input their name, photo and also write on what they did and how they are doing during the pandemic. Their responses would then be recorded and shared on the larger screen.

S TA R RY NIGHT Moodboard
Starry Night
29
This mood board is meant for a home bathroom with the theme “Starry Night”. The client is a man in his late 20s who works as a wildlife photographer and filmmaker. He is an adventurous person by nature and in his leisure time, he likes to hike and stargaze whenever possible. He feels that stargazing helps to soothe his soul and de-stress from both his work and personal problems. It gives him room for self-introspection and in the aftermath, it has allowed him to appreciate the things happening around him even more. The idea of this bathroom is to bring the particular mood to the client’s very own home. Providing a serene solitude space where he can absorb himself in his musings after a long day of work is the main aim of the design. A big soak bathtub is placed inside the bathroom so that the client can lay back and get into a comfortable and relaxed state. The room is purposely dim-lit with warm yellowish lighting to resemble the stars in the night sky and aromatic candles stimulates tranquility. Dark tiles and stone were purposely chosen for the flooring and countertop in order to enhance the overall mood of the story. Walls are colored in navy blue to symbolize the night sky. To break the color scheme, gold fixtures and white accessories are put to complement the space.

DESIGN STYLE: CHINOISERIE The design style chosen is “Modern Chinoiserie” style. Chinoiserie is the European interpretation of East Asian culture and decorative arts. Chinoiserie comes from a Frenchword ‘chinois’ which means Chinese. As Justin is a soul who has always been fascinated by both cultures, implementing this style to his bachelor pad would allow him to remember his intrigue to this fusion style and it would also also act as a constant reminder about his roots as Chinese chef who loves Western cuisine, especially French cuisine.

The chosen color red is inspired from the five footways in shophouses which often use red terracota tiles as the flooring. Green is inspired from the chinese glazed porcelain tile which is also a decorative element in the shophouse. Cream, grey and white color aims to complement the pop of colors existing in the shophouse.
