Portfolio Selected Projects 2016-2020
Felicitas Van Thienen
about Coming from a multicultural background, I’ve always believed in holistic ways of designing. Design and architecture have been my passion from a very young age. Throughout the years I’ve become an enthusiastic and proactive person. I strongly believe that in every situation, there is a opportunity to grasp. Design is a view of life, it is aesthetic and functional. We have the power of creating ways of living. With a strong sense of compromise in every project I’ve participated, I believe that my contribution for design is always bringing new ideas to the table, to think out of the box and constantly look forwards for new challenges. By collaborating in diverse teams throughout the last few years, I’ve been able to embrace on many theoretical and practical projects. These gave me the opportunity to enhance my leadership skills by always trying to motivate my colleagues to work as a team exchanging ideas.

Multicultural Building FADU - UBA
Project: Mixed use type
Studio: RED,Fadu/UBA
Location: Av. Mayo
Year: Aug - Dec 2018
Size: 120,000 sqft
Buenos Aires, Argentina
Thesis Final Project Final project was an opportunity to express my concerns about the approach towards design, architecture and urbanism. In the context of a city as Buenos Aires, I decided to design a project where there could be more than one main activity. The main concept origin from the rigorous study of the future of urbanism and societies. The concern about this was, who’s responsability to design, the city towards the building or the buildgin towards the city? Therfore we are commited to think about the challenges of socities in term of developing a building in a city, and the future of the cities depend on our buildings.

Palermo Tower FADU-UBA
Project: high rise residential tower
Studio: Grinberg,Fadu/UBA
Location: Palermo,
Year: Aug-Dec 2017
Type: 260,000 sqft
Buenos Aires, Argentina
Team Members: Matías Costa Cordova Starting with an extense research of urban planification at Buenos Aires, Palermo tower was an opportunity to rethink the future of an abandoned part of the city. Taking in advantage the surroundings, the high residential tower offered four different apartment types that responded to different views of the city. Depending on the height, the tower slighlty moves to a different side to look for. Therefore this exercise commited us to do an intense structural study to be able to design through it the main concept of this high rise residential tower. Concept development, model fabrication.

A very special location was selected to create and develop the opportunity of this residential house. Thinking about a single family living gives multiple opportunies. Combining materials such as concrete and brick was the opportunity to think about sustainability and respond to the intention of opening that this project has in its volume.
