Fundraising for Your Own Costs - Half-and-half fundraising: for you & for Afrinspire; This works for small events (e.g. I’ve done themed tea parties, murder mystery nights, and dinners) or sometimes sponsorship, from people you know - Part-time jobs e.g. babysitting, college bar - One-off jobs e.g. May balls, research studies - Summer jobs e.g. waitressing, sales assistant - This is the key example of where grants are great!

Getting the Media Involved? - Why? Profile-raising and can lead to extra donations. - What? A story. Quirky (e.g. fancy dress) . Personal touch. - When? WELL in advance! Can also submit retrospective! - How? Local press easiest. Check style and length. Include photo and quotes if possible.

Detailed Discussion - How do we choose methods of fundraising? Amount raised? Additional benefits? Time spent relative to amount raised? Repeatable? - Do any of these ideas grab you? Why? Consider whether they fit our SWOT analysis. What resources and time might you need for it? - How will we work as a team in this area? Uneven commitments? What about universitylevel grants e.g. those from the careers centre?
