Site Plan

Targeting issues of gentrification and the sprawling suburban home in the studio entitled: “The Grand Domestic Revolution, efforts were made to create a new mixed-use housing typology. Shift+ focuses on the production of food with flexible live-work units capable of transforming from a private kitchen to a food vendor. In conjunction with a cooking school, Shift+ aspires to feed the Cambridge community both culturally and economically. The deviating stacked floor plates of the building yields natural light which reaches areas of recreation and greenery, encouraging residents to garden and congregate.

Site Plan

A library is the core of a neighbourhood, a place for leisure, work, and learning. In vibrant urban areas inhabited by a range of age and ethnic groups, the features of a library must satisfy the diverse needs of the community. Libraries also need to be adaptable as we shift towards technology in society.

The concept of the Modular Library explores flexibility in both the social and logistical factors in building a library. Suitable for challenging sites in dense urban areas, this design incorporates precast concrete structures that are shipped to the construction site. The final assembly occurs on-site with bolted connections.

Toronto Transit System Map 2020+

Transit infrastructure is expected to experience a significant revitalization and expansion in the City of Toronto. At the core of the initiative, are a suite of light rail transit (LRT) projects, the Line 7 Finch West LRT will begin construction in 2017 while the Line 6 Sheppard East LRT will begin construction within the next decade. The Metrofit Light Rail Transit Station embraces the simultaneity of a fleet renewal within the TTC subway system and the construction of new light rail lines. As the new trains replace the older fleet, segments of decommissioned trains can be recycled to create sheltered seating, integrated within a canopy structure at a street level LRT stop.

Site Plan

Located in Downtown Cambridge, the Water St. Apartments is a project that explores living in an urban context, with ambitions of revitalizing neglected areas of the city. Through a juxtaposition of century-old homes and a modern multi-storey housing complex, the Water St. Apartments sets the tone for diversifed future redevelopment in the area. Seeking more sustainable urbanization; a shift towards denser, community focused housing has become a priority for new residential development. A community parkette will be at the core of the project, encouraging residents to spend time outdoors. Over time, the parkette will become an oasis as the surrounding area urbanizes. << Walnut Ln.
