THE GREAT ALASKAN RACE is based on the remarkable true story of Leonhard Seppala and sled dog Togo, whose heroism to save a village of sick and dying children in Nome Alaska in 1925 inspired the Iditarod Race. Leonard and Togo raced through blizzard conditions with a wind chill that dropped to -85 degrees to retrieve and deliver medicine to these children. THE GREAT ALASKAN RACE is the first film from P12 Films, a new production company that is taking a giving approach to filmmaking. Before they even begin production, they take a portion of their budget and donate it to non-profits. For this film, they have chosen to support Battle Dawgs, which helps veterans with PTSD, and Hope is Alive, a faith-based addiction recovery network.
THE GREAT ALASKAN RACE releases in theaters across the country on Friday, October 25th. If you attend an opening weekend screening, snap a selfie with the film’s poster, and share it with #GreatAlaskanGiveaway, you’ll automatically be entered to win a free trip to Alaska.
