December Holiday Check List

BY AMY BERGMAN Happy December! With Thanksgiving behind us, it’s time to focus on the December holidays. We are only a few weeks away and time will start going real fast with the kids starting Winter Break soon. So, I have put together an Amyzing checklist for you of what you still have time to do and what you can implement, ditch or revise right now.

• Gifts-if you haven’t gotten that perfect gift for a teacher, friend, letter carrier, hair stylist, etc., now is the time to grab just some gift cards. You can still make your gift stand out with one of these 10 Non-Boring Ways to

Give Gift Cards (www.Defeatingbusy.com/10non-boring-ways-to-give-gift-cards/). While you are there, get a few extra (particularly to somewhere YOU would like to shop in case it’s leftover) for when someone gives you a holiday gift unexpectedly and you want to reciprocate.

• Gift Intake List- Start a blank list somewhere (paper or on your phone) to record gifts as they come in, noting what they are, who they are from and which family member received it. This way, thank you notes post-holiday season are a little easier.

• Travel Plans- You most likely have booked your flights and hotel rooms but have you arranged any local transportation you will need to go to and from airports or train stations? FYI, Uber and Lyft will let you schedule rides BEFOREHAND.

• Holiday Cards-Where are the INCOMING cards going? Establish a display area or two

in your home, the last thing you need is more clutter around the house and holiday cards can add to your décor when displayed in a thoughtful manner. Here are 11 DIY Ways to Display Your Holiday Cards (www.sheknows. com/uncategorized/slideshow/3673/waysto-display-holiday-cards/10/). Don’t forget to KEEP the ENVELOPES from the cards you receive this year to record the return addresses and update your own address books and contact list.

• Menus and Grocery Lists- Make a list of dishes to make/bring, ordering from bakery or local restaurant, remember disposable containers you may need. Just in case here are 13 Holiday Meal Planning Tips:

• Meals and Baking-You may have your menus set, but how about creating a blank list to record dishes you made/baked this holiday season that were a BIG hit so you can remember for next year.

• Child Care/Pet Care- Solidify any playdates, babysitting and pet care you will need for the holidays. Don’t forget to make arrangements for you to have some “downtime” yourself so you can be your best self this month and enjoy the holidays as well.

I hope this checklist helps you to have a joyous, calm and organized holiday this month. I look forward to sharing even more Amyzing organizing tips and tricks next year so we can all be Clutter Free in 2023!

Happy Holidays!
