What should the building of the Museum of Art, Architecture and Design be like? It should be a message building. building as the tool and the program. It becomes an exhibit and a global community of artists, architects and designers. Several architects, industrial and graphic designers develop architecture of the building, each of them resposible for a separate level. These levels comprise the building of the museum – the World Culture Mill in Oslo. be r n a s k on i
FairytaLe The old legend and the arms of Oslo become a basis for a new symbol. The millstone becomes a sign and also a fundamental scheme of the museum organization.
simple and straight! The building in the form of a cylinder made of several disks is laconic and simple. A circle layout arranges circular horizontal movement at each level; a square is a functional core of vertical communications.
global communication Instead of one star Oslo receives at least several. Five millstones – five architects, plus invited industrial and graphic designers for designing furniture, accessories and navigation.
design program The museum building is designed as an exhibition tool; each surface works. The facades rising above the city become information artwork – space for the art-projects.
be r n a s k on i
360 in The cylindrical form allows arranging movement along a circle, each time bringing a visitor back to escalators, lifts and stairs. Thus the visitor’s movement direction can be either programmed or free.
work in! To work in the National Museum of Oslo is not only honorable, but also pleasant. The two-level zone of administration is designed as a tool for work, communication and rest; at the same time the space itself looks as an exhibit – it is possible to have guided tours here.

Our team approach to the project comprises of building a dialogue with the place, minimizing the level of interventions to the existing landscape and creating several points of attraction within the site. Our initial instrument for the rapid urbanization was the use of the sea containers as means of transportation for creative ideas, the second instrument is the communicative design and architecture which mark the territory as something new and fresh. be r n a s k on i

Villa mirror mongayt
How to build an energy-efficient designer villa for $ 800 for sq m? «Mirror Mongayt» villa solves this problem. The front south facade is designed for a specific period of time as an art installation in a form of a temporary structure. Every eight years the house clears the skin. Changing of the facade is a landmark event, a family tradition and a newsbreak. The first facade – mirror pixels reflecting the sky and the forest and dissolving the house in the environment. be r n a s k on i
1
Energy-efficient technologies The carrier system of a building: prefab wooden frame made of a simple board, quickly assembled right on the area. Universal screw-pile foundation allows to shorten the zero cycle and work without Geological Survey. Insulation is made of recycled ecowool.
No additional buildings House of 270 sq m living space is developed in two stages: first – the lower level area of 180 sq m, then the two top independent unit areas of 90 sq m. Phased development of the house allows to save money on the first stage and avoid building of additional constructions on the territory in the future.
PRINCIPLE OF MANOR Independent functional units are located in the line and combined into an enfilade of rooms: household area, public area, living area.

The GRAND CRU concept is the area of a vinehouse. The architecture of each new store meets each visitor with a specific spatial scenario. All stores are united by several elements: a specially designed system of racks, programmable white and red lighting and a method of using supplementary materials. A traditional set of standard materials is used in the shop: max for racks, plastics, stainless steel for binders and wood or stone depending on the scenario of each store.

Preobrazgensky masterplan Russia, Yaroslavl region, Nekrasovsky district, 2012
Preobrazgensky masterplan
The structure of the Preobrazgensky masterplan is based on the careful design considerations for the city block and the building unit, which it is formed by. The diverse environment is created by the varied typologies of the city blocks and the staggered nature of the streets making each crossing being different from another and discouraging high speed for the vehicles. The variety of public and green spaces such as city squares with retail, park and embankment, public gardens and green courtyards creates complex environment and provides opportunities for the different leisure and sports activities. The urban environment is reinforced by the retail frontage on the first floors of residential buildings.

The master plan concept of recreation center on the shore of the Azov Sea demonstrates a comprehensive approach to creating a unique place for a youth summer recreation. The main idea of a city with a clear outline allows to compactly arrange and organize functions and spaces, and, therefore, to simplify all types of communications. The symbolic and memorable form of a heart finds its continuation in the form of a logo and a distinctive mark for each of its residents.

The VolgaDacha house is located in a bucolic russian village on the upper reaches of Volga river. Seen from the windows is a 17-century orthodox church cathedral and glimpses of waterfront of Volga. A house has a living room and an open kitchen on the first floor and separated master bedroom and kid’s sleeping places on the loft. The bathroom has a glass door leading to the deck with an outdoor shower. A vast terrace made of siberian larch and surrounding the house can be used to relax with a good book or an IPad3G.
A floor to ceiling glass sliding doors are closed by wooden shutters when owners are not at the VolgaDacha. Due to good insulation the house can be kept warm by heated floors and a small wood stove in the winter. The concrete floors are keeping it cool during the hot summer months. be r n a s k on i

Arts and creative work are crucial in everyone’s life. To enhance benefits to the society governments invest into arts and culture. Russia is rich in artistic talents, but as compared to other Western countries, there is no world famous cultural center. That is why we suggest that Russian and Moscow administration should transform this territory into an International Cultural Center (ICC) integrating educational, entertainment and recreation activities, all in one.
The project aims at three purposes: 1.To preserve the present cultural area as one of the most valuable city assets; 2.To build up on its basis an International Cultural Center; and 3.To create an ecologically favorable and attractive arts and promenade zone in the city center. Therefore, considering Arts and Nature as top priorities of the area, we offer 300,000 m2 of buildings with cultural function surrounded by 140,000m2 of forest thus giving Muscovites an opportunity to enjoy arts and practice creative work in an ecological oasis located in the very hart of the inner city. The forest becomes a city object. be r n a s k on i

ARCHITECTURE AND CONSTRUCTION ARE BOTH PRIMAL CULTURAL PRACTICES. BUT WHAT QUALITIES DEFINE MODERN ARCHITECTURE? HOW IS IT DIFFERENT FROM CONSTRUCTION? THE SHAPE OF MODERN BUILDINGS IS OFTEN DETERMINED BY ITS FUNCTION, SUCH AS PROTECTION FROM ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS.
