Delmar Boulevard is one of the ten most popular streets in America and is famous for its retail, restaurant and civic life. The site for this housing project, bounded by three busy streets, is convenient in public transportation with Delmar Loop as a major metro station. Four bus lines (2, 16, 91, 97) pass this site. Circulation is key to this project.

My idea is wrapping living. I try to wrap the whole project with a ramp system which creates places for people to circulate, relax and communicate. People’s movement and communication is what gives housing dynamics.

Airport is the first entrance to a new city. It should be a window to show the city. The airport can be a channel to connect the suburban green landscape and the urban culture. So I blend art and green inside my airport.

Culture Lens Theater Degree Project Professor: Ben Fehrmann Spring 2013 St. Louis What does the site in downtown St. Louis mean to the project? Is the theater only for the interior show? Could the theater become a lens to see the city?
The Lens Theater is not only a venue to see the opera; it is a place to view St. Louis. As you walk towards the auditorium, you pass through a series of lenses. Each lens is focused on a landmark of St. Louis; the Stadium, MacArthur Bridge and the Arch. Once inside the auditorium your view is directed through the stage towards the Mississippi River. 19

The shape of the kindergarten is derived from the paper-windmill, which makes children happy. I oriented the classrooms on south and east side to get the most sunshine hours. The northwestern part is for service and equipments. The paths of different people are separated according to the layout of the plan.

Evolution The life of architecture is longer than the period of planning. These buildings witness several evolutions and even revolutions of a city. They act as old photos and playback growth of a city. As a reminder of history, they should be protected. With regard to some buildings of bad quality, we can learn from the reconstruction of Xintiandi in Shanghai -- flexible renovation of interior function. Ziyuan Road, connecting architecture of different ages will become the historical development axis of Hongqi District in the future.
